Genshin Impact : The Divine Gunsliger of Teyvat

Chapter 5: Chapter 005: One Shot, One Hilichurl

**

As the group of four made their way toward Mondstadt, their conversation meandered through various topics. Eventually, the discussion turned to the purpose of their journey, and Paimon, ever the chatterbox, revealed that Lumine was searching for her lost brother.

"Oh, so you're looking for family... How about this? Once I finish my current mission, I can help you put up some missing person posters," Amber offered enthusiastically, her voice brimming with warmth.

Paimon, ever curious, tilted her head and asked, "Speaking of which, what exactly is your mission, Amber?"

"Well, it's nothing too serious. Just clearing out some Hilichurls," Amber replied casually, her tone light. Since it wasn't a classified task, she saw no harm in sharing the details.

"Hilichurls?" Both Shao Yun and Lumine echoed in unison, their curiosity piqued.

"Yep, Hilichurls. They're these pesky little monsters. Not exactly a major threat, but they can cause trouble for the townsfolk," Amber explained, her voice taking on a more serious tone. "Lately, for some reason, they've been getting closer to the city. My mission is to clear out their camps."

She sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly under the weight of the task.

"Do you need any help?" Paimon chimed in, her voice cheerful. "Lumine and Shao Yun are pretty strong! They might be able to lend a hand."

Shao Yun couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at Paimon's eagerness to volunteer them for extra work. But then again, he was curious about his own strength now that he had the power of Pyro infusion. Surely, his abilities had improved, right?

"Yeah, we can help. It'll save you some time running back and forth," Lumine agreed, nodding in support of Paimon's suggestion.

"Are you sure? I don't want to trouble you..." Amber hesitated, feeling a bit guilty about asking travelers to handle what was essentially her responsibility.

"Don't worry about it. It's no trouble at all," Shao Yun reassured her, his tone casual. After all, a little combat practice wouldn't hurt.

Seeing that Amber was still on the fence, Shao Yun added, "Think about it. If you overwork yourself and end up in danger, what then?"

"That's... a fair point," Amber conceded, her resolve wavering.

"But I can't just let you do all the work for free," she muttered, her brow furrowing as she pondered the situation. Suddenly, her eyes lit up with an idea. "How about this? Once we clear out the Hilichurl camp, I'll give you all a little something as a token of my thanks."

"Yay! Paimon loves gifts!" Paimon exclaimed, her tiny hands clapping together in excitement.

And so, it was settled.

The group followed Amber to the Hilichurl camp. As they approached the target area, Amber signaled for everyone to crouch and move slowly. Peering over a bush, they spotted a lone Hilichurl patrolling the camp.

Just as Amber was about to make her move, Shao Yun stopped her.

"Let me handle this."

"Huh? Are you sure?" Amber asked, her concern evident.

In response, Shao Yun revealed the Vision at his waist. "I just got this. I want to see what it can do."

"Alright, but don't push yourself. If things get too dangerous, fall back. Lumine and I will be right behind you," Amber cautioned.

"Relax. I could take them on with my bare hands," Shao Yun said confidently, clenching his fist.

Amber's lips twitched at his words, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks as she recalled the time she had accidentally collided with him. "Yeah, I guess you could..."

Without further ado, Shao Yun stepped out into the open and called out to the patrolling Hilichurl, drawing its attention. The creature let out a guttural cry and charged at him, its fists raised.

Seeing the Hilichurl—no taller than his thigh—barreling toward him, Shao Yun didn't waste any time. He didn't even bother activating his Vision. Instead, he drew the single-action revolver from his holster and fired.

A burst of red light emanated from his Vision as a Pyro-infused bullet shot out of the barrel, striking the Hilichurl square in the chest. The creature disintegrated into ash, its essence returning to the ley lines.

"Not bad," Shao Yun thought to himself. "Feels like a high-explosive round, but maybe even stronger."

After all, in the games he'd played, few characters could one-shot an enemy with a single elemental attack without relying on reactions like Vaporize or Melt.

With the patrolling Hilichurl dealt with, Shao Yun strode into the camp as if he owned the place. Inside, he found a handful of ordinary Hilichurls—some sitting around a campfire, others wandering aimlessly, and one perched on a watchtower, armed with a bow.

"Typical beginner-level mobs," Shao Yun mused. "Nothing fancy here."

The Hilichurl on the watchtower spotted him first and let out a shrill cry, alerting the others. The camp erupted into chaos as the creatures scrambled to defend their territory.

Shao Yun didn't waste any time. He took out the archer Hilichurl with a single shot, then strode to the entrance of the camp. Gripping his revolver with both hands, he activated his Vision.

The world around him seemed to slow down as the ticking of a clock echoed in his ears. To him, the Hilichurls appeared frozen in place. He fired rapidly, his movements a blur.

To Amber, Lumine, and Paimon, it looked as though Shao Yun hadn't moved at all. The only evidence of his actions was the sound of gunfire and the Hilichurls collapsing into ash.

In mere seconds, the camp was cleared.

"Piece of cake," Shao Yun muttered, twirling his revolver before holstering it. He turned to the trio, who were staring at him in stunned silence.

"All done," he said casually.

Amber blinked, her mouth slightly agape. "That... that was incredible! You took them all out in just a few seconds!"

Her initial worry had completely vanished, replaced by admiration. Shao Yun's skills far exceeded her expectations. His speed and precision were beyond anything she had seen before.

Lumine and Paimon exchanged glances, unsure of what to say. Finally, Paimon broke the silence with a rather awkward question.

"Uh... you didn't get hurt, did you?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Shao Yun chuckled, raising a hand to his mouth and clearing his throat. "Well, now that the camp's cleared, shouldn't we...?" He glanced at Amber, raising an eyebrow to prompt her.

"Ah, right! Let's head back to Mondstadt. Not just because of the dragon, but also because I promised to treat you all to a meal!" Amber said, her usual cheerfulness returning as she brushed off the earlier awkwardness.

As they left the Hilichurl camp behind and approached the stone bridge leading to Mondstadt, Shao Yun couldn't help but marvel at the sight of Cider Lake. He had seen moats before, but a "moat lake" was something new.

Walking across the bridge, he reminisced about his early days as a newbie player. Back then, he had tried to swim across the lake instead of using the bridge—a decision that had ended predictably poorly.

As the group stepped onto the central island of the lake, the towering walls of Mondstadt came into view. The city's grand gates were adorned with the banners of the Knights of Favonius, and the stone emblem of the Lion of the South hung proudly above the entrance. Knights stood guard on either side, their presence a reassuring sight.

Shao Yun felt a sudden urge to capture the moment. He pulled out a small notebook and began sketching, though he had no real talent for drawing. Still, he figured that since he had been transported to this world, it wasn't entirely impossible that he had gained some artistic ability.

Amber watched him quietly, not minding the delay. After all, the gates of Mondstadt weren't exactly a secret, and many artists came to the city to capture its beauty.

When Shao Yun finally finished his sketch and looked up, he noticed the trio waiting patiently. "Sorry for holding you up," he said, scratching his cheek sheepishly.

"No worries," Amber replied with a wave of her hand. She straightened up, her voice brimming with pride as she addressed the group.

"Now, allow me to formally introduce you..."

"To the city of wind and dandelions, the city of freedom—"

"Travelers under the protection of the Knights of Favonius, welcome to Mondstadt!"
