Genshin Impact : The Divine Gunsliger of Teyvat

Chapter 18: Chapter 018: The Gunslinger Outfit

After parting ways at the Statue of the Seven, the system updated with a new task.

[Current Task: Rest at Amber's house.]

According to Amber, her home is located in the residential area between the Favonius Cathedral and the Knights of Favonius headquarters. It's easy to spot—there's a faded drawing of Baron Bunny hanging on the door.

Following the system's guidance, Shao Yun navigated through the winding streets of the residential area and eventually stopped in front of a standard three-story Mondstadt house. The door had a slightly faded Baron Bunny drawing hanging on it, confirming that this was indeed Amber's home.

"Not bad," Shao Yun muttered to himself. "Living alone in such a big house? There's definitely enough space for three more people."

But now came the next problem: how to get inside.

It was still afternoon, the sun high in the sky, and Amber hadn't returned from work yet. Shao Yun stared at the door, an ordinary wooden one. He glanced down at his boots. Should he just kick it open?

He looked around at the bustling street and quickly dismissed the idea. If he got marked with some kind of "trespassing" or "disturbing the peace" debuff, he might end up locked in the Knights of Favonius headquarters. Besides, Amber had kindly invited them to stay at her place. It wouldn't be right to break her door right off the bat.

"Do I have any lock-picking tools?" Shao Yun wondered aloud as he rummaged through his backpack.

His gaze fell on a potted plant sitting by the door. It was a single, lonely pot placed on the right side of the door, completely asymmetrical. Curious, he lifted the pot and, sure enough, found a key underneath.

"Well, well, hiding the key under the flowerpot, huh?" Shao Yun chuckled, holding up the key. "If you're going to hide it, at least make it symmetrical. One pot just sitting there is way too obvious."

He unlocked the door, stepped inside, and carefully placed the key back under the pot.

Amber's home was warm and lively, much like the girl herself. Sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating every corner of the house and making the space feel bright and spacious. The furniture was simple and practical, with minimal decorations, yet it exuded a natural, cozy charm.

Shao Yun took a moment to look around the living room. On the wall above the fireplace hung several photos of Amber with the Knights of Favonius. He walked over and examined them. In every picture, Amber's smile was radiant, her energy practically leaping out of the frame.

But something caught his attention. There were no photos of Amber with Collei or Eula. Was it because the main story hadn't progressed far enough, or...?

(TL/N : No way. According my analysis collei and amber meet far before traveler wake up)

His eyes drifted to the staircase. He climbed up to the second floor and immediately noticed a door with a colorful Baron Bunny painting on it. That had to be Amber's room. Maybe the photos with her friends were kept there.

The system popped up with a notification:

[You can now change clothes in the wardrobe at your hideout. You can either use the system to automatically change outfits or do it manually.]

Finally! Shao Yun had been waiting for this. He was eager to change out of his current clothes, but he hesitated. Entering a girl's room without permission would be incredibly rude—not to mention it might make him look like a creep.

The second floor had three rooms, two of which were empty. Shao Yun picked one of the guest rooms and stepped inside. He approached the wardrobe and opened the system interface to start changing.

There were plenty of outfit options, but Shao Yun's eyes were drawn to the most classic one: the Gunslinger Outfit.

The outfit consisted of a brown trench coat, a blue inner shirt, black trousers, boots with spurs, and the pièce de résistance—the black gambler's hat. Shao Yun carefully took the outfit out and held it in his hands.

He ran his fingers over the fabric, feeling every inch of it. Unlike the tattered version he'd seen before, this one was brand new. Yet, he could still sense the power it carried.

Taking a deep breath, Shao Yun began to put on the outfit, each movement deliberate and careful, as if afraid of wrinkling or tearing the pristine fabric.

Once fully dressed, the Gunslinger Outfit accentuated Shao Yun's strong physique, making him look even more imposing. It was as if the outfit had been tailor-made for him.

Finally, he picked up the black gambler's hat, tied with a multicolored rope. This hat was the soul of the outfit. If circumstances allowed, Shao Yun would have lit three sticks of incense to express his excitement. But for now, he simply placed the hat on his head.

The moment the hat settled, the system displayed the outfit's effects:

[Gunslinger Outfit Effect: Reduces the consumption rate of three core stats by 10%. In combat, it instills psychological fear in enemies, lowering their attack power. The effect is more pronounced against stronger opponents.]

This effect was only slightly inferior to the Eastern Legend Outfit, making it the best outfit available at this stage.

[Current Task: Wait for nightfall.]

Since the task was to pass the time, Shao Yun decided that sleeping was the best option. He returned to the living room on the first floor, lay down on the sofa, and closed his eyes.

---

Night fell over Mondstadt, and the city grew even livelier than during the day. The sound of music and clinking glasses spilled out from the taverns, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Amber, exhausted after a long day of work, finally returned home. The house was dark, and since Shao Yun was asleep on the sofa, she assumed no one had arrived yet. She casually tossed her waist pouch onto the sofa, accidentally hitting Shao Yun and waking him up.

"Huh?" Shao Yun sat up, squinting in the dim light. He recognized Amber's distinctive bunny-eared headband and realized the homeowner had returned.

"Welcome back..." he said, yawning and rubbing his eyes.

Amber, already drained from the day, was startled by the voice. She stumbled and fell to the floor.

"Ah! A thief!"

Her scream jolted Shao Yun awake. Who would dare break into a Knight's home? He jumped off the sofa, drew his revolver, and scanned the room.

"Where's the thief? Show yourself, or I'll shoot!"

Amber, hearing the familiar voice, squinted at the man who had suddenly appeared. Realizing it was Shao Yun, she let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh, it's you, Shao Yun. You scared me! I thought a thief had broken in."

Shao Yun holstered his revolver and helped Amber to her feet.

"You scared me too," he said, scratching the back of his neck. "What thief would be dumb enough to break into a Knight's house?"

Amber smoothed out her disheveled hair and adjusted her headband.

"Better safe than sorry. A little vigilance never hurts."

She used her Vision to light the candles on the ceiling, illuminating the living room. As the light filled the room, she noticed Shao Yun's new outfit and couldn't help but compliment him.

"Shao Yun, that outfit looks great on you! And that hat—it really ties everything together. Very stylish."

"Thanks. It's the second most perfect outfit in my heart," Shao Yun said, proudly showing off the outfit as if it were a priceless treasure.

Just as the atmosphere was becoming comfortable, Amber suddenly realized something. "Wait, how did you get in?"

Shao Yun pointed to the flowerpot outside. "With the key you hid under the pot."

Amber followed his finger and saw the flowerpot. She was shocked that her backup key had been so easily discovered.

"How did you know I had a backup key? And how did you find it? My friend told me it was the perfect hiding spot—completely foolproof!"

Shao Yun blinked. Amber's friend? Was it Eula or Collei? Both seemed like the type to suggest such a flawed hiding spot.

Eula, being a descendant of the Lawrence Clan, lived in a large estate with plenty of plants. Hiding a key under one of many pots might work there, but Amber lived in a regular residential area with only one pot. Collei, on the other hand, had spent most of her life suffering from Eleazar and had little life experience. She might have suggested something as simple as hiding a key under a pot.

Instead of answering directly, Shao Yun ruffled Amber's hair and grinned. "Amber, you're too careless. What if an enemy found your key, hid in your house, and ambushed you? This hiding spot is way too common. Next time, try hiding it in a crack in the wall."

Amber pushed his hand away and stuck out her tongue. "Yeah, right. You probably searched for hours before finding it. Nyeh!"

She didn't press further and simply handed Shao Yun one of the spare keys.

The two sat on the sofa and chatted for a while, mostly about Amber's stories of Mondstadt's many quirks and adventures.

After some time, Amber noticed that Lumine and Paimon still hadn't returned. "Where are Lumine and Paimon?"

"I'm not sure. They went to investigate the Stormterror situation and told me to rest here. They said they'd meet us tonight."

Amber nodded. With Lumine's strength, capable of taking on a dragon, there was no need to worry about her safety.

"Alright, I'll go prepare rooms for you and Lumine," Amber said, standing up to head to the second floor.

Shao Yun wasn't about to let a sixteen-year-old girl do all the work while he lounged around. "Let me help you."

The rooms didn't need much cleaning—Amber kept her home spotless, even the guest rooms. They just needed to make the beds.

After finishing, Amber wiped her brow (even though there was no sweat) and held out her hand. Shao Yun high-fived her.

"Mission accomplished! Thanks for helping, Shao Yun."

"Don't mention it."

As they admired their handiwork, the system updated with the next task.

[Task Updated: Head to the Favonius Cathedral.]
