Genshin Impact: I, Heavenly Principle, Will Make Teyvat Supreme

Chapter 72: Absolving the Original Sin of the Fontainians and the Authority of the Seven Ancient Dragons

The voice, neither imposing nor frightening, and even somewhat gentle, nearly caused Furina to tumble from her chair in shock. Seeing Noah seated on the sofa with a playful gaze, she immediately shrank her neck and timidly muttered, "L-Lord Heavenly Principle..."

Oh no, he heard me. What do I do?

Will Lord Heavenly Principle punish me?

As the thought crossed her mind, she quickly got off the chair, assuming the posture of a student caught making a mistake in class. With both hands on her knees, she nervously smiled, a drop of cold sweat forming on her forehead.

Focalors also panicked momentarily before sitting upright in an orderly fashion, her gaze fixed on Noah, who casually sipped her cup of coffee after appearing on the sofa. "Lord Heavenly Principle."

Neuvillette, on the other hand, remained calm. While his expression carried a hint of nervousness, it was far more composed compared to Furina and Focalors.

"Lord Heavenly Principle, Fontaine has successfully completed your plan. From our perspective, we cannot discern any flaws in its execution. Please review it yourself."

Furina and Focalors' hearts pounded nervously, dreading even the faintest hint of disapproval from Noah.

Noah waved his hand dismissively. "If your work had been unsatisfactory, I wouldn't be here. Instead, I would have summoned you to the Celestia for a reprimand."

Furina and Focalors immediately let out a sigh of relief, as if a mountain had been lifted off their shoulders. Neuvillette, too, felt reassured. After all, he could sense the significant changes in the world as the Hydro Dragon Sovereign, though he lacked the authority to discern if any lingering issues persisted.

Noah clapped his hands, smiling as he looked at Focalors, Furina, and Neuvillette.

"I am a leader who clearly rewards and punishes. Since you have successfully completed the task, naturally, rewards are in order."

"However, the existence of Fontaine itself is built on original sin. I trust you are aware of what this sin entails."

Initially overjoyed at the mention of rewards, Focalors and Furina were now struck dumb by the latter part of the statement.

Recovering from her shock, Focalors lowered her head in trepidation and respectfully said, "Yes, I understand. Fontainians are not complete humans but were created by the first Hydro Archon, Egeria, who defied the authority of the Heavenly Principle by using Primordial Sea to mold Oceanids into living beings."

"Even I intended to shatter my divine seat, returning a fragment of the Hydro Elemental Authority to Neuvillette, to exercise the ancient Dragon Sovereign's power of creating life and thus transform the Fontainians into true humans."

Noah's golden eyes fixed on the nervous Focalors. "While I am not Phanes, and your transgression was not against me, original sin is still original sin."

"However, the Fontainians made undeniable contributions during this mission. As such, let their merits offset their sins. I shall bear this original sin, and as a reward for Fontaine, the Fontainians shall become true humans, as you wished."

Focalors and Furina felt as though a heavy burden had been lifted, basking in newfound clarity and warmth. Regaining their composure, they quickly expressed their gratitude. "Thank you, Lord Heavenly Principle, for your mercy."

Noah took another sip of coffee. "This is what the Fontainians deserve. Going forward, Focalors, Furina, you both must continue to work diligently."

Focalors immediately pledged, "Yes, Lord Heavenly Principle. I shall dedicate myself fully to the prosperity of Teyvat, sparing no effort until my final breath."

Furina: "Me too."

After speaking, Focalors and Furina exchanged a glance, each sensing the other's happiness.

Focalors sighed with emotion. Lord Noah was truly remarkable—clear in his rewards and punishments, fair in distinguishing right from wrong, and exceptionally kind to the Seven Archons.

Having such a Heavenly Principle was a true blessing.

When Phanes was the Heavenly Principle, the former Hydro Archon Egeria spent her days constantly worried and uneasy, never having a moment of peace.

Silently, Focalors vowed to dedicate herself entirely to serving this incredible Lord Heavenly Principle.

Moreover, during the world's annexation, Lord Heavenly Principle had shared the water rule and the rule of justice from the annexed world with her. Now, she had become even stronger, fully comparable to the first generation of the Seven Archons.

Although, of course, the first-generation Archons must have grown stronger by now.

Noah pushed the empty coffee cup toward Furina.

"Refill it."

Furina nodded vigorously, like a pecking chick. "Right away." She quickly grabbed the cup and scurried off to make more coffee.

Noah turned to Neuvillette.

"And you, Neuvillette? What reward do you want?"

Neuvillette answered without hesitation.

"Although I have no particular desires or wishes, if I must say what I want, it would be the authority of the ancient dragons."

Noah propped his face on his hand, smiling.

"I figured that's what you'd ask for. Granted."

Now that the entirety of Teyvat was his domain, the authority of the ancient dragons was a minor matter.

Raising his hand, Focalors' body began to emit a water-blue glow.

Focalors looked at her hands and could feel a fragment of the Hydro Elemental Authority within her divine seat being separated.

Her strength did not diminish—90% of her power stemmed from her Archon's nature. The divine seat's contribution to her overall strength was not significant. For Archons, the divine seat was more a symbol of status.

However, for demigods, the divine seat was the foundation of their very existence.

Currently, the greatest role of the Seven Archons' divine seats was to suppress the half of the Hydro Elemental Authority that Phanes had plundered from the first-generation Seven Dragon Sovereigns.

The reason for suppressing the Dragon Sovereigns' authority lay in the fact that the complete authority of the seven ancient dragons would interfere with Phanes' Light Realm system.

It was akin to vying for the world's control.

For Teyvat, the Light Realm system was akin to a "group administrator," while the authority of the seven ancient dragons acted as "sub-administrators."

And since the admins and the group owner were adversaries, Phanes naturally suppressed them.

Now, however, all of Teyvat's authority lay in the hands of Noah as the new Heavenly Principle. The ancient dragons' authority no longer held sway over the world.

As a reward, granting it could motivate Neuvillette to work even harder.

A small orb of light, the Hydro Elemental Authority, appeared before Neuvillette.

The moment it materialized, the skies above Fontaine darkened with thick clouds, and a fine drizzle began to fall.

Fontaine's citizens hurried to find shelter from the rain, grumbling about the inaccuracy of the scientists' weather forecasts.

Neuvillette quickly reached out. As a second-generation Dragon Sovereign, he had been born incomplete. Now, with what he was missing presented before him, even though his rational mind did not particularly crave the complete authority of the ancient dragons, his body acted beyond his control.

The Hydro Elemental Authority merged into Neuvillette's body. The subtle pressure that emanated from him grew purer, finally becoming ancient.

The authority of the ancient dragons… was complete at last.

While Neuvillette was immersed in his transformation, the virtual shadow of the Primordial Law Ring appeared behind Noah.

In a slow, deliberate tone, Noah spoke.

"I, Heavenly Principle, absolve the original sin of the Fontainians, forgive the transgressions of the former Hydro Archon Egeria, and grant the Fontainians the right to become true humans."

The primordial power descended on all Fontainians the moment Noah spoke.

Without any sound or visible change, the Fontainians transformed—from incomplete human forms to complete humans, finally becoming fully realized beings.

Of course, those Fontainians who had committed unforgivable crimes were not granted this privilege.

All of this happened silently and imperceptibly, beyond even the awareness of the gods.

"Ah, why is it raining? Are those scientists studying the weather reliable at all?"

"Yeah, they better not be using our tax money for some state-sponsored barbecue."

"Quick, let's find shelter before this light rain turns into a downpour."

As the phenomena triggered by Neuvillette's restored authority unfolded, the people of Fontaine hurried to the nearest shelters.

In the light drizzle, a young woman with long, golden, curly hair under a black top hat extended her hand, letting raindrops fall into her palm. She raised her head to the sky and said, "Even though I'm getting wet, why do I feel so happy?"

An elderly gentleman in a tailored suit quickly opened an umbrella for her.

"Young Miss, what are you doing? You'll catch a cold."

"My father was falsely accused on a day like this…"

As Navia reminisced somberly, members of the Maison Gardiennage blocked her path.

"Miss Navia, the case involving your father, Mr. Callas, and the shooting incident from years ago has been reopened. Certain suspicious points in the case are being re-examined."

"Here are the documents detailing those discrepancies. You have three days to conduct your own investigation and gather evidence. Please report to the Maison Ordalie after three days for the trial."

Navia, though confused about the sudden development, eagerly accepted the documents upon hearing about her father. She immediately began reading through them.

"The case of the missing young women! The hidden underwater site! Sinthe, Vacher, Uncle Marcel?"

Navia quickly closed the documents and turned to her butler and attendants.

"Melus, Silver, hurry! Start investigating these discrepancies immediately! My father's death is indeed connected to the case of the missing girls! And I'm sure the perpetrator is Marcel!"

"What?! Alright, I'll make arrangements right away. I promise we'll uncover the truth and clear the master's name."

Navia, her attendants, and her butler hurriedly set to work.

Although she couldn't fathom why the Maison Gardiennage had handed her these documents instead of investigating themselves, she wouldn't waste any chance to vindicate her father.

...

Three days later.

At the Opera Epiclese, the Maison Ordalie summoned Navia and Marcel.

The courtroom was packed to the brim with Fontainians, eager to watch this dramatic retrial. The people of Fontaine, ever the connoisseurs of spectacle, would not miss such an event.

Seated in the prime viewing spot, legs crossed and watching the proceedings with keen interest, was none other than Noah himself.

He had an unshakable feeling that letting these criminals of Fontaine live would be an affront. And making the Heavenly Principle uncomfortable? That simply wouldn't do.

The trial began with sharp debates, each argument countering the next. As tensions mounted to the peak of the proceedings, the case took an unexpected turn—from being about a shooting to becoming a case of the missing young women. The courtroom erupted in shock.

Piece by piece, Navia presented evidence against Marcel, each revelation hammering away at his defenses until he was overwhelmed.

In the end, unable to refute the charges, Marcel broke down in a fit of rage, screaming incoherently, "I'm not even from Fontaine! Why should you have the right to judge me? Have any of you experienced my suffering? This is all your fault!"

As the outburst devolved into chaos, Neuvillette, presiding over the trial under the guidance of the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale, pronounced the death sentence.

The courtroom was thrown into utter shock.

"Death penalty? While I agree this scum deserves it, isn't the maximum supposed to be life imprisonment?"

"Yeah, how could the Oratrice hand down such a verdict?"

"In the past five hundred years, I've never heard of a case ending in the death penalty!"

"What?! The death penalty?!" Marcel's eyes widened in shock. He had acted so recklessly precisely because Fontaine had no death penalty. If his plan succeeded, his beloved would return to him. Even if he failed, he thought he'd spend the rest of his life in Meropide.

"Silence—"

At that moment, Furina stood from her seat, her body emitting a soft blue glow. She appeared to ascend an invisible staircase in midair.

The divine pressure she radiated immediately silenced the restless audience.

Though the citizens of Fontaine usually regarded their god as approachable, akin to a beloved celebrity, they never forgot her divine nature, which demanded reverence. Especially now, after Furina had recently demonstrated her awe-inspiring power that shook the entire world.

"Today, I will reveal the whole truth," Furina declared, spreading her arms in her usual theatrical manner. "The people of Fontaine now have the right to know."

She then proceeded to explain the origin of the Fontainians, their original sin, and the history behind their existence.

"However," Furina continued, "the original sin of the Fontainians has been forgiven by Celestia. Thanks to my tireless efforts, Celestia has permitted the Fontainians to become true humans."

Her tone shifted sharply as she added, "But those who, despite being forgiven, carry additional sins will not receive Celestia's grace. Their compounded guilt will lead to their dissolution in water."

The previously silent audience erupted into a cacophony of voices.

"So that's how it is! This is amazing news!"

"Right? I can't believe we weren't truly human before!"

"Thank you, Lady Furina! You've done so much for us behind the scenes!"

"Forgive me for my arrogance, Lady Furina. I thought your celebrity antics meant you weren't taking your duties seriously. Please forgive me!"

"Sinners aren't fully human anyway? Serves them right—that's divine punishment!"

"Could this be about that day? When Lady Furina spoke of judging all sins in the world?"

"Ohhh, so that's what it was about! Lady Furina is truly incredible!"

The audience began attributing the divine phenomenon of the opened World Gate to Furina's efforts to make Fontainians whole.

Seeing the commotion grow, Neuvillette noticed Furina's expression—anxious to regain control of the situation. He struck his staff against the ground. "Order!"

The audience fell silent once more.

Furina resumed, her voice firm: "The death penalty exists to ensure justice is upheld. It serves as a grave deterrent for those who would destabilize society or harm innocent lives. Only the severest punishment can make people realize the seriousness of their crimes."

"From this day forward, Fontaine's laws will include the death penalty. I hope no one will ever face this ultimate punishment."

The audience nodded in agreement, their respect for Furina soaring. She had saved them, granting them true humanity, and they were ready to support her unconditionally.

"We support Lady Furina!"

"That's right! The death penalty is justified. Monsters like him deserve nothing less!"

"Absolutely. Lady Furina, the God of Justice, knows what's right!"

Marcel's pig-like screams echoed through the hall as the Enforcers dragged him out to carry out the sentence.

After the trial concluded, topics such as the case of the missing girls, the origin of the primordial sea, true humanity, and the death penalty dominated the headlines in Fontaine. These discussions buzzed in every corner of the city.

While the audience dispersed, Neuvillette, Furina, and Noah remained in the Opera Epiclese.

"What a splendid performance. Truly entertaining," Noah said, rising from the front-row seat while clapping his hands.

Neuvillette inclined his head slightly. "As long as it pleased you."

Furina, on the other hand, cautiously said, "Lord Heavenly Principle, cases like this are quite rare in Fontaine."

She worried he might deem Fontaine overrun with criminals, leading to further scrutiny.

Noah flicked Furina's forehead, cutting off her spiraling thoughts. "The show's over. Now it's time to fish out that little troublemaker who dared drink from the primordial sea and turn them into soup."
