Chapter 53: Chapter 53: A Sister?
Yu carried two massive birdcages, both created using elemental energy. One held Alice, the other Rhinedottir—two adorable girls confined in cages by a man. Normally, this would scream "pervert," but to the Akademiya students, it was business as usual. Without a detention island available during their field trip, the Headmaster had resorted to this unique form of punishment.
These two girls were a constant headache for Yu. Their grades were excellent, but their troublemaking was ceaseless. No major disasters (like world-ending catastrophes), but minor problems cropped up daily. Yu often felt like he was on the verge of a heart attack.
As Yu walked, he pondered. Now that he had a rare chance to act as a king, should he build some grand spectacle? After all, with sandworms around, it was better to make use of them before they went extinct. Perhaps once he tricked Xiaochen into returning, he could build… a giant wall around Sumeru? No, too expensive. How about the world's tallest tower? Also no, the climate here was too damp—high structures would decay too quickly. What about the world's largest mausoleum? That could work. If his mother ever faced some unexpected accident, she could rest there. If the Scarlet King met his end, he could be interred there too. Even renowned scholars could be buried there upon death. And if space ran out, they could just expand. Not a bad idea.
He set the birdcages down and continued brainstorming ways to trick "Princess" into coming back. After much thought, he still couldn't come up with a good plan. Clearly, he wasn't scheming enough. He'd heard she'd been beaten recently—should he check on her? No, he still had these students to deal with. If anything happened to them, how would he explain it to their parents? Best to send them back first.
"Alright, pack it up! Stop studying that thing… If you really want it, take it home."
"Long live the Headmaster!"
"What a bunch of idle troublemakers," Yu muttered.
At Xuanwu Gate
"I'm back!" Yu called as he arrived home. His first task: check the Akademiya's misconduct reports. He had to stay on top of these things; his subordinates were just too many and too troublesome. Some of the previous reports read like this:
1. Alice (Female):
Violation: Playing with explosives during class.
Penalty: Three days in detention, plus a 2,000-word reflection.
2. Rhinedottir (Female):
Violation: Attempting a crossbreeding experiment between a human and a horse (emergency intervention required).
Penalty: Apologize to both the human and the horse, three days in detention, plus a 5,000-word reflection.
3. Afu (Male):
Violation: Keeping a crocodile as a pet and bringing it to class, scaring the teacher into wetting themselves.
Penalty: Apologize to the teacher, plus a 3,000-word reflection.
4. Zeldan (Male):
Violation: Selling female undergarments in the Akademiya, causing a public scandal.
Penalty: Reprimand (resistance led to a cane spanking from the Headmaster), followed by three days in detention.
5. Verina (Female):
Violation: Publicly undressing in class, causing male students and the teacher to suffer severe nosebleeds, staining the classroom red.
Penalty: Clean the classroom and serve three days in detention.
6. Alice (Female):
Violation: Blowing up the detention room.
Penalty: Personally handled by the Headmaster.
7. Afu (Male):
Violation: Breeding crocodiles in the dormitory.
Penalty: Remove the crocodiles, apologize to roommates, and write a 7,000-word reflection.
8. Nickson (Male):
Violation: Simultaneously dating seven female classmates.
Penalty: Pending his discharge from the infirmary.

Every ridiculous rule in the Akademiya's growing code of conduct stemmed from an even more absurd real-life incident.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of gold and amber, Yu reflected on the day. Another one gone. Maybe he should visit Ei tonight? Or perhaps take a few days and travel to Inazuma under the pretense of studying its unique minerals? Then again, should he spend the evening watching girls dance at the Grand Bazaar? Strangely, sneaking a glance now seemed far more exciting than when they used to line up before him unbidden.
Midnight at the Grand Bazaar
Returning home under the cover of darkness, Yu extinguished all the lights and collapsed into bed, savoring the tranquility of the night. But just as he began to drift off, he felt something soft pressing against him—a small foot, delicate and childlike.
"You're finally back!" A voice tinged with annoyance called out.
Recognizing the voice, Yu sat up. "Mom? What are you doing here? And in my bed?"
"Stop wasting time. Do you know how long I've waited? Wandering around at night instead of coming home—what were you up to?"
"Just give me some energy already. I've shrunk into a child because of you!" Turning on the lights, Yu saw a tiny girl with long white hair and pointed ears, her petite form starkly at odds with the mature voice emanating from her lips.
Energy transfer wasn't a problem; after all, he and the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata shared the same source. But how had she depleted so much energy?
As Yu transferred his stored energy into her, Rukkhadevata's body visibly expanded, returning to her original form. She relished the feeling, murmuring for him to continue.
Though feeling unusually drained, Yu complied with his mother's request. By the time the process was complete, he felt like he'd just spent a week on the battlefield.
"Mom, what on Teyvat did you do to use up so much energy?"
Rukkhadevata smiled mischievously. "I didn't want to spoil the surprise, but here."
She reached into the bed and, to Yu's astonishment, pulled out a tiny girl with white hair and long ears. Smaller than Rukkhadevata had been, the child curled up in her sleep, her little ears twitching adorably.
"I made you a sister. Isn't she cute?" Rukkhadevata beamed, her rosy lips and maternal warmth at odds with her usual dignified aura.
Yu lay there, utterly spent but intrigued. He stared at the girl who bore such a striking resemblance to Rukkhadevata.
"What's her name?" he asked.
"Nahida," she replied, smiling.
