Gangster Hybrid

Chapter 11: A Birthday Surprise

The old man's silence was a heavy blanket. Draven pushed the encounter with he's father to the back of his mind. He knows what happened. If he wanted me to know more, he would have told me. He Walk towards his bed, eager to lose himself in sleep.

The next day, as twilight painted the sky, Draven began the tedious process of preparing for his birthday party. These clothes are so uncomfortable, he grumbled inwardly, tugging at the constricting fabric. Why do I have to wear this? A knock on his door announced the arrival of a maid. "Young Master, the Mistress requests your presence at the party."

As he followed the maid the hallways, He thought I haven't even gotten there yet, and I'm already bored. They reached the grand hall, and Draven was momentarily taken aback. I didn't think there would be this many people.

The maid led him through the crowd of people they soon reached his mother. She she gleaned at him. "Draven, this is my younger brother, Isaac, your uncle."

Draven's gaze fell on a dark elf man with black hair who looked to be around twenty-five. Beside him stood a dark elf girl who appeared to be fifteen. Isaac smiled warmly. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Draven."

He looks twenty-five, Draven thought, but he's probably over a hundred. If he's Mom's younger brother and he's that old… how old is Mom? He quickly squashed the thought. Better not to ask.

"This is my daughter, and your cousin, Alex," Isaac continued.

Alex grinned. "Since I'm older, you'll be calling me Big Sis."

Draven's mind reeled. She looks fifteen, but she's probably over forty. A forty-year-old telling me to call her Big Sis… gives me the creeps. He forced a smile.

"Uncle," he said, turning to Isaac, "did you bring a gift for me? You didn't forget is my birthday, did you?"

Isaac chuckled. "Of course not." A small, black hole-like shadow space appeared beside him. He reached into the void and pulled out a box. The shadow vanished. "I heard you mainly use your fists, so I had these custom-made gloves created for you."

Draven opened the box. Inside were black gloves, but they looked enormous. "Aren't they a little… big?"

"Try them on," Isaac suggested.

Draven picked up the gloves and slipped them on. As he did, the gloves seemed to shrink and mold themselves perfectly to his hands. He flexed his fingers, surprised. "Thanks, Uncle. You're the best!" Isaac beamed with pride.

Draven moved closer to Alex. "Big Sis," he said, a playful glint in his eye, "did you bring a gift for me as well?"

Alex gave him a knowing smile. "Of course." She, too, conjured a small, black hole-like shadow space and extracted a black dagger. "This dagger is made of black iron. You might not use weapons often, but it's always good to have one." She said

Black iron, Draven thought. I read about it. It's one of the strongest metals in the world. Guess calling her Big Sis was worth it. "Big Sis, Alex, you're so nice!" he said, his voice dripping with mock sincerity.

Alex's smile widened. "Why don't we test it out? On A real fight "

Draven grinned, flexing his gloved hands. "Sure. I want to try out my new gloves, too."
