Gamer, fixing the fates of fictional characters

Chapter 37: Time passes by

When it was finally over, Kaitou didn't know if there was a time limit for the fights or if the created avatar was completely destroyed. Both outcomes were welcomed by him. Everything was better than being the punching bag for that damn Donkey Kong on steroids.

While grumbling over the whole thing, the system rang out in his mind.

[Host, most powers will be sealed inside those summoning spaces. Only techniques related to physical abilities, reflexes, and basic combat skills will function properly. Magic, chakra-based abilities, and other supernatural techniques will have limited or no effect.]

Kaitou's eye twitched. So that's why nothing worked.

He had gone into that fight expecting to use his techniques to compensate for the sheer strength difference. Instead, he had been forced to fight Rajang with nothing but raw skill and physical ability - something that, as he had learned the hard way, was nowhere near enough.

"So basically, I was thrown in there to get my ass handed to me like a complete idiot." He exhaled slowly, rubbing his face. Great.

Shaking off the lingering pain, he finally turned his attention to the sight before him.

Raiga and Fuyuki were still struggling against Hoopa, their desperate attacks phasing through empty air as the mischievous entity teleported just out of reach each time.

"Too slow, too slow!~" Hoopa teased, floating just out of their reach.

Fuyuki tried a feint, launching a clone in one direction while darting forward himself. Hoopa yawned before effortlessly flicking a ring in front of him - causing Fuyuki to fall through it and reappear several meters away, face-first in the dirt.

Raiga attempted to use his limited Kekkei Genkai to create a sudden shift in the ground, but Hoopa just poked the altered terrain and made it vanish.

Kaitou chuckled, a deep, hearty laugh escaping him. His ribs still ached from the beating, but the sight of his students suffering was almost therapeutic.

"Shared suffering is half the suffering," he muttered with a smirk.

Raiga, still trying to catch his breath, turned toward him with a glare. "Sensei! You're just going to sit there and laugh?!"

"Yes."

Raiga growled in frustration, but Fuyuki was too busy spitting out dirt to argue.

Kaitou stretched, feeling his sore muscles protest. At least now, he had some understanding of how these summoning battles worked. He wouldn't be making the same mistake again.

"Alright," he said, standing up. "Let's call it here. I've got work to do."

The two students groaned in exhaustion.

"We just spent an hour chasing a ghost," Raiga muttered.

"Not my problem," Kaitou said with a grin.

Next time, he'd be smarter.

Next time, he'd win.

Just like that, time went flying by once more.

Just like that, three years went by before the founding of the first major ninja village, Konohagakure.

Those years were not uneventful, especially for Kaitou.

With the experience he made that day, he began being more cautious with things given by the system. Not because he didn't trust the system, but because the things tended to be stronger than he expected them to be.

Nonetheless, he began gradually taming and registering many of the more common monsters, after receiving advice from the system. It seemed that, just like in the games, there was an option to switch to other kinds of weapons. When he realized this, Kaitou was pissed for a while before jumping right back in.

Through the use of these different kinds of weapons, and after acquiring multiple weapon mastery skills, they at one point fused and turned into the combined skill [Weapon Mastery].

In these fights, through the continued beatings Kaitou had received from the more special ones among the beasts, his Sage Body also developed crazily. While his Sage Body was at level 9, nearly maxed out when he first started brawling with the monsters, it soon reached max level and evolved.

At first, he just received the other half, which he had to train again. But because he had already trained one and had the perfect training for this, it soon also reached max level and fused with the other half, becoming the Complete and therefore [Perfect Sage Body].

Even then, it still continued to improve, and Kaitou also didn't think that this was the last form it would take.

The next thing he achieved was when he reached [Nature Transformation] Level 100. He began tinkering a bit with Kekkei Tōta again. This time successfully. It wasn't as extreme as with his Kekkei Genkai, which he created a ton of when he had some free time, but he still created a few of them. Even then, nothing came close to the potential of his Chaos Release.

Seeing the major progress in his [Nature Transformation], Kaitou was forced to train his [Shape Transformation]. For this he used the best available option, the Rasengan. It was the best choice, as without having to rely on someone else, the whole training method was already explained.

He was successful in recreating the steps one by one, and finally achieved the full Rasengan. From then on, he had to experiment on his own with what he had. Because he was now familiar with the Rasengan, he tried the experiments on it first.

Kaitou chose to try to bring it into different shapes, at the start not very successful, but there was one thing that helped him dramatically in the end. When he tried infusing different Chakra Natures into it, it began changing forms by itself, albeit only slightly.

He chose to adapt the form corresponding to the Chakra, and was able to create a few different forms, some of them were the known Rasen-Shuriken, then he created the Rasen-Bolt, and for the other three main elements, though they didn't have names for now.

His other Kekkei Genkai and special techniques also advanced rapidly. This could be attributed partly to his students, who, though much weaker than him, were still able to hold on for a bit when Kaitou focused on singular things. Besides them, the Tengu and monsters were also very helpful.

The Tengu taught him everything he asked for, and as it turned out, while they didn't have a sage mode they could teach him, they had something similar. This was a result of their Ki training. Through different applications of the Ki in his body, he was able to achieve different forms that were taught to him.

Those forms were the versions created by the Tengu over their long history. Individually, there were five distinct forms, each of them containing and enhancing one attribute. Kaitou managed to learn every one of them in the timeframe but was still unable to fuse them, how it was intended.

Besides training, the world around him was changing.

A year into his training, the scouts finally found the perfect location for the village. After all the leaders visited once and were satisfied, it became the chosen location.

Over the next year and a half, the village was created. It was made bigger than originally planned, with civilians in mind.

Kaitou was also very busy, as he had to monitor the seal engravings sometimes and was even personally responsible for engraving the seals into the Hokage building. His knowledge of sealing had advanced to the point where he was one of the top specialists in the field.

The village wasn't just a military stronghold but a home for shinobi and civilians alike. That was the core philosophy behind its creation.

As time went on, Kaitou found himself standing at the edge of the newly constructed village, watching as families began settling in.

He had come a long way since that day in his inner world, fighting his Zanpakutō spirits, learning their techniques, and forging himself into something stronger.

Now, it was just a few days before the official election of the First Hokage.
