Chapter 50: A Game Getting Spicier
Whilst Freya was working out her plans to make money, In SWTOR something monumental had just occurred... Someone had unlocked something potent...
...
In the World Between Worlds stood a cat-girl wielding two bright blue lightsabers, currently turned off. She looked around curiously as geometric shapes and lines twirled, whirled and twisted throughout the space. These lines glowed beautifully gold-silver as if copying the distant starlight one may see from the surface of a planet. Between these designated pathways was the endlessness of space, lightly speckled with actual distant starlight as stars were snuffed and created spontaneously.
"I wonder what this place was used for..." Her delicate but seductive voice echoed in the infinite dimension, the words warbling as some lights began blinking.
She turned on her feet and watched the entire space vibrate as if something had disturbed a water's surface. This motion sustained itself until the very 'path' she was on flared in bright blue light, making a visible pathway now.
Following the continuously lighting path her eyes stopped a figure standing there. Dressed in black robes and grey armour this figure was currently having a lightsaber battle with a very old looking Jedi.
"You're the very example of arrogance, SITH!"
Sparks flashed from a parry as the said sith deflected it off to the side.
"There are two forms of arrogance, Jedi. One sourced from overconfidence and a lack of objectivity. The second come from a place of utter dominance and skill. Which one do you think I am?"
The Jedi sneered as his Mirialan features sped into a blur. With navy-blue eyes and ornate facial tattoos the blur of movement became almost artistic as blues mixed with onyx ink into a dizzying display of momentum and precision.
Unfortunately his increased speed meant little, the Sith deflecting or dodging the attacks all together. Ten strikes... Twenty strikes... Fifty... It became uncountable after a while. The sith was toying with the man.
"You knew which of the two I was, yet you still attacked. A brave idea." The sith squeezed his fist and lifted the Jedi from his feet, the Mirialan man holding his hands to his throat in desperation.
"It is, amusing really. You come here to stop me from controlling everything, and yet, you die before even understanding what this space is." Gasps and squeaks escaped the Jedi's throat as he slowly went apoplectic. His face turned purple as his heart slowly began failing with the lack of Oxygen inside his body.
"That will be your curse. To never have known what it is I have gained this day."
Watching on was horrible, but the cat-girl didn't want to get in the middle of someone who seemed much more powerful. The two figures however vanished in smoke soon, all that was left being a singular sith-styled mask. Lightly stepping over to it she hovered above and looked down at its details.
As soon as she got above the mask however, a red and black spirit flew out and grasped onto her face. Deep orange-yellow eyes peered into hers as memories slipped inside her skull, the very game itself allowing her to see the cinematic like memories. Another spirit fell from above, light blue and black, pulling apart the other and looking into her eyes now...
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...!"
...
Tony had been completing his quests on Dromund Kaas, clearing out rebels and discovering new factions within the Empire as a whole. Today however was different. This day, he had discovered a secret recording from a republic base that had been majorly invaded already.
It had spoken on an item called a Holocron... Something that was apparently filled with ancient knowledge. The record was filled with details about what they look like, but also with the dangers of chasing them down. Apparently they usually attracted either people, factions or wild life to defend themselves. Just this aspect was enough to draw Tony's interest, but the promise of information also? He was sold on chasing down these Holocrons.
Thus, he was travelling from one of the small cities in the boonies of Dromund Kaas to the Capital City, Kaas City. There, he was likely to get several of these Holocrons from the sounds of the Republic report. Some were located being near to the Jungle Expanse. The Malignant Bog was brought up also, a rather miserable location to go as it was no doubt a swamp area. Finally, in this area of the planet, there was one purportedly near or inside Lord Grathan's Estate.
Getting off his shuttle in Kaas City and walking out to the front gate of the city he was met by the officer on duty and asked his business. He used his master's name to get past and started walking through the completely pitch black jungle, the only thing lighting his way being his own lightsaber and the small luminous enhancements on his companion Khem Val.
*SNIFF* *SNIFF*
Speaking of his companion, well, he was currently eating the wildlife whenever he got the chance. Bones popping and muscle tearing in the background sometimes as the creature salivated its meal.
"Khem, buddy, could you please follow behind me properly...?"
"Khem Val hungry. Stop speak, or Khem Val eat you."
Tony sighed and turned back to the road, his lightsaber alight before him as the crunching of branches and other spooky noises cried out. Critters sprinted along the road sometimes only to jump up a tree and scatter into darkness... Other times larger beasts lazily strolled past in the jungle, baboon-adjacent creatures with glowing purple eyes.
The only solace for people afraid of the dark was the sporadic lighting sourced from ships passing overhead and the even rarer street light that had a single war droid patrolling around the spans of the lights.
But this journey was rather simple, ten minutes passing before they finally arrived at a nearby outpost... The Empire's presence rather thick here as monstrous creatures attempted to breach the shielded pathways established by the first sith to conquer this planet once again.
"Inquisitor! If I could please have a moment of your time?" A rather nerdy looking operative shouted out as several players turned to regard the NPC.
Speaking of the players, they were all different alien species and shades. As the first planet where the different classes could interact properly; except for certain circumstances, people were forming guilds and groups all over the place. Well, that was until they saw Tony and started to fangirl in front of him...
"T-that's a beta player...! Tony stark."
"Wait? What? He's a beta player?"
"Whoa, what is that thing next to him...!?"
"That's a companion, I got myself one from a mercenary station."
"Doesn't he look super power, why don't we invite him?"
Hundreds of voices pierced into the din as the NPC ran up to Tony, the nerdy looking gentleman adjusting his glasses as he ran. It was obvious he was nervous about all of attention he was getting from the players.
"Sir Inquisitor! I was wondering if you could please help me with something."
"What is it kid?"
He halted in his tracks and blinked a little, surprised that a Sith spoke to him without a threat.
"Um, um... Well, we need to clear out this Jungle Expanse for potential archaeological exploitation. You see, there is a bunch of buried Sith and Jedi from the past underneath the birthing grounds for the beasts..."
"I'm in kid. Give me all of your details on this area, including the activities of other teams and the goals of said incursions."
"AH! Right away sir. This way, please."
All of the players watched on in minor horror and also amazement as their conversations with NPCs were always difficult or hostile in a way. His interactions made them think that perhaps they were treating them too much like robots.
~Gates to the Jungle Expanse shall open within the hour, prepare for incursion.~
Many hearing this began to finish their purchases with nearby vendors and grouped up with their parties... All thoughts on the beta player was eradicated as the nervousness of facing powerful enemies soon came to all players present.
...
Alucard had made his unique lightsaber and was now sitting in a council member's chambers within Dromund Kaas, working for a Sith named Darth Zavakon. The old sith councillor was wishing to send him out to go clear some issues in the area known as 'The Dark Temple'.
"Pfft, I wonder when the old fat-ass is gonna send me on mission... It's like working for British Intelligence all over again..."
A doorway opened to reveal a rather rotund looking sith lord dressed in fine purple robes and heavily masked. Beside him was the woman who has been trying to constantly keep up with Alucard on his 'walks'... Vette. She was a Twi'lek woman with blue skin and a beauty that most species could appreciate. As usual though, Alucard could give zero cares for her presence, she wasn't half the woman his Draculina was.
"M-master! Please don't leave me behind anymore!" The sith lord next to her scoffed and began chuckling under his mask as Alucard simply stared at his 'companion'.
"Look, vale... I don't work well with others, unless its for sex. Okay?"
"M-my name it Vette..."
"Tsk, look, you can come along with me, but no hanky-panky, at this current moment your just my body shield."
She looked down at the ground in sadness but breathed in deeply and nodded.
"If it's a body bag your looking for, than there is none better than me!"
"Ha-haha- HAHAHAHA" He began laughing creepily as the elder sith simply watched on, his patience being much higher than other sith.
"I like you... Good! This'll be sum easy shit. So, Zabuda, or whatever you're called, got the job for me yet?"
"Ah, you finally pay attention to me... Yes I do. You're goal is to find the Holocron inside of an ancient Sith's tomb within the Dark Temple."
Alucard stood up and straightened out his outfit.
"Be cautious though, the sith present there have been infected by a certain powerful will that hates mostly all sith on this planet."
"Meh, it'd suck if it was easy..." He twirled his lightsaber in his hands and walked past Vette, ignoring the older Sith as a mission flashed onto his screen. "Come Vele, we'll go clear out this stupid temple... Ugh, reminds me of the Vatican... Oh that further reminds me, I wonder if the Pope received my pigeon again."
"It's VETTE!" She rushed after him as the elder Sith grinned under his mask, the light of his eyes flashing as he turned and closed the door to his office with the force.
