Chapter 230: Fleet 223 sets sail

On the day the Sacred Falcon and Richelieu were about to embark on their long voyage, there was no lively send-off ceremony at the Ruyi City Spaceport. The entire operation was kept low-key, and even through the public channels, the Star Alliance's Public Relations and News Department did not release any information about the Chancellor taking the Sacred Falcon on a long voyage. Xiang Fei's brows were furrowed as he watched Bai Zhongqi board the warship, surrounded by a swarm of guards. His emotions were extremely complex.

"So, you don't wish to see our Chancellor leaving the Star Alliance at this time?" Doctor Ye Qing asked beside him.

Xiang Fei nodded and said, "I still haven't understood the logic of the people of Iridium Star, why they can so calmly, even supportively, watch their Chancellor embark on such an uncertain mission."

Ye Qing said, "Maybe they believe that a mission with the Chancellor's participation will have some significant metaphysical enhancement."

Xiang Fei looked at Ye Qing with an expression of absurdity, "I can't believe my ears, these words are actually coming from the mouth of a doctor of astrophysics."

Ye Qing said, "Just because we don't understand something, does it cease to be science? In any case, I don't understand the Iridium Star Chancellor's set of eternal life or reincarnation to other universes, let alone what the so-called Supreme Command really means."

Xiang Fei didn't want to discuss these things with Ye Qing and said, "Do you know why the Star Alliance will never announce that the Iridium Star Chancellor is taking the Alliance's most powerful warship away for strategic reconnaissance? Because it looks too bad. Most people won't think that our Chancellor is prepared to risk his own life to collect important military intelligence for the Alliance, but instead they will feel like he's taking the opportunity to flee."

Ye Qing said, "I'm afraid you are one of those who thinks this way."

"I actually don't want to think that way, but sometimes I can't help it," Xiang Fei lamented pessimistically.

Ye Qing said, "Let's let the results speak for themselves then. However, I hope he is indeed conducting strategic reconnaissance and not fleeing, because in the former case, I'll probably survive, but in the latter, I expect I would become food for the Teizene people."

Bai Zhongqi, who had already boarded the Sacred Falcon, was now sitting in the captain's chair on the bridge. This used to be Xu Lanzhou's throne, and for this mission, Xu Lanzhou was not participating. Bai Zhongqi would serve as the acting captain of the Sacred Falcon.

Interestingly, while the Richelieu was overstaffed with personnel, the crew on the Sacred Falcon was far from sufficient. Most of the original crew of the Sacred Falcon were now in the Star Alliance, participating in the training of new Universe Army soldiers and conducting joint training on the Bojiang battleship at set intervals to maintain their combat readiness.

The current crew of the Sacred Falcon, apart from Bai Zhongqi and Han Jiaxue, consisted of bionic humans. And even then, their number was not large. The warship's AI, Zero, already had capabilities far surpassing that of an average Grade A artificial intelligence and could fully control the warship. Bai Zhongqi, present on the ship and endowed with the Supreme Command, could actually control the warship even better than a crew, in a manner similar to playing a video game.

"Sacred Falcon, execute the anchoring sequence."

"Sacred Falcon, anchor up."

"Anchors lifted, Sacred Falcon has entered slow propulsion mode, departing from Ruyi City Spaceport."

"Navigation system normal, communication system normal, detection system normal, weapon system normal."

"Sacred Falcon has reached the safe position to break away from Ruyi City's orbit."

"Commence fleet formation, Sacred Falcon and Richelieu are joining R285 reconnaissance exploration fleet."

Bai Zhongqi was not new to operating warships; he had previously tried commanding them through Supreme Command. There wasn't much difference from his gameplay, as most of the programs and features were automated. Still, reports kept popping up to inform Bai of the detailed situation of the warship's voyage.

Zero stood to the side of Captain Bai Zhongqi's chair and said to him, "Your Majesty, the fleet has entered the designated area to commence warp speed flight. Shall we start the warp engines and open the warp bubble to guide the warship into it?"

Bai nodded, his demeanor composed, but he still looked back. In that moment, his entire sensor array and the full virtual reality display in the bridge became transparent, making it seem as if he and Zero were suspended in space.

The azure planet lay behind them; Ruyi City was now positioned bottom-rear due to its orbital motion.

The Iridium Star Chancellor wasn't really as calm as he appeared. He had indeed left the Solar System before and reached other planetary systems, but now he considered the Danlu Interstellar Cloud the true home of the Star Alliance. The voyage he was about to embark on would span thousands of light-years to a completely unknown star region.

However, given the high speed of the Sacred Falcon, even over 1000 light-years away, it wouldn't take nearly as long as it took the Teizenese, who spent more than a year to reach such a distance. For the Sacred Falcon, now entering second-stage warp speed, it would take less than twenty days to cross over a thousand light-years.

The other escort ship, the Richelieu, was now effectively hitching a ride. Even though the Richelieu couldn't enter second-stage warp speed on its own, by entering the warp bubble created by the Sacred Falcon, it could join the Sacred Falcon in its ultra-high-speed travel at second-stage warp speed.

The Earthling crew aboard the Richelieu were particularly excited and anxious. The previous operation had already given Chi Jia and the others a taste of warp speed flying. However, that was with the Richelieu's own warp engine propulsion; now, it was a second-stage warp speed flight powered by the Sacred Falcon, heading to a distant and unknown star region thousands of light-years away, which was even more thrilling.

"The real trouble is, we have no idea where we'll end up when this warp speed flight ends," Huang Quan said, his expression far from relaxed.

"The only Galaxy star region coordinates we know of beyond the Danlu Interstellar Cloud are those of the Teizene civilization's Box Star Territory. Clearly, we can't just ram into the Box Star Territory with two warships; that would be no different from walking into a trap. So the actual coordinates we've chosen are about a few dozen light-years outside the Box Star Territory. Nobody knows what we will find there. After warp speed, we could appear on the doorstep of some powerful civilization and be considered illegal intruders, or we might unluckily emerge right in front of a Teizene fleet and be attacked. In short, there's a lot that could go wrong," he added.

Taschwe, however, dismissed this with a laugh, "Then let's wait and see which situation we encounter after 18 days. But until then, Raven, stop talking about such things. These 18 days will actually be like a nice vacation for us."
