From Nine Rank Psychic to a Totem of a Small Tribe

Chapter 7: 7. Earth Wolf

With anticipation lighting up her face, Via looks toward the elder sitting cross-legged in front of the owl she had trapped. Inside a cage she created, the owl stands motionless, a red seal glowing faintly on its forehead.

After a few moments, the elder opens his eyes as the sun begins its descent, halfway hidden beneath the horizon.

Via notices this and asks, "How are you, Elder Jion?"

The elder replies, "I am well." With a swift motion, he breaks open the cage. The owl flutters free and, to everyone's amazement, perches on the elder's shoulder, promptly falling asleep.

Al, Ajis, and Via exchange astonished glances. Just moments ago, the owl had been desperately trying to escape the cage Via had constructed. Now, it seemed entirely at peace, as though the elder's presence had subdued it.

Eyes wide with excitement, Al exclaims, "Then, Elder, when will you advance to the Great Shaman realm?"

Ajis, grinning, gives Al a playful slap on the shoulder. "Elder Jion only just made the owl his familiar! And judging by the owl's strength, it hasn't even awakened its innate magical spell yet."

Al nods thoughtfully. "Then, Elder, can you ask the totem if it can create a method to help us break through to the Spirit Blood realm?"

Via, now gently stroking the sleeping owl, pricks up her ears to listen closely.

The elder shakes his head solemnly. "The totem has already given us a gift. How can we ask for more without offering something in return?"

Via puts her hands down with them and starts walking back toward the tribe, she speaks," Then elder can you tell when the owl will waken his magic power."

Elder glances at the owl, and through the familiar seal that connects both of them, he tries to feel the body of the owl but he is unable to discover when the owl will awaken its innate spell. So while shaking his head replies," I am unable to tell."

While making small conversations, they enter the tribe, and every tribe member's eye is on the beautiful owl with feathers of the night sky.

Then the tribe members all them dinner while they light a fire in front of the statue and then dance around the totem while singing the praise of the totem.

Elder Jion is last to leave the celebration and before he enters his house, he glances at the night sky for his familiar but finds nothing but he can sense it is still flying above their tribe.

He hears the cry of the owl from the sky, he sends a message through the familiar seal- Not to fly out of the valley.

He opens his home's door while thinking he does not want to lose the owl because if the owl dies, nothing will happen to him but his spirit will be damaged. He is already old and has a couple of decades to live.

He doesn't think he can capture another beast as his familiar after anything happens to the owl.

----

Gavin stops comprehending the inheritance of the body, he is occupied as he senses his new clone the huge wolf has to wake up, because of hunger. It has already healed more than half of its injury and the rest of the injury requires time and energy.

Which he cannot get by absorbing the spiritual energy but he has to eat. It had not yet advanced to a magic beast, it could not time absorb spiritual energy.

Wolf Gavin stands and tries to walk, but pain and weakness make it difficult. Realizing this, he knows he cannot hunt his prey through chasing. His body feels weaker, leaving him with only one viable option: his innate spell, recently awakened.

The wolf absorbs earth-attribute spiritual energy, so Gavin assumes that his innate spell must also align with the earth element.

His guess proves correct. As he focuses on his magic power, he feels the ability to manipulate the 'earth elemental' spiritual energy to it. In the sea of his consciousness, a rune spell takes form. When Gavin directs his thoughts toward the rune, he senses the surrounding earth elemental energy resonating with it.

At that moment, the name of the spell surfaces in his mind, alongside the identity of his species. Gavin is an Earth Dire Wolf, and the innate spell he has awakened is called Earth Element Control.

There is no large animal to hunt inside the valley and with the injuries, it is difficult to walk out of the valley, outside the valley are teaming with beasts and other tribes hunting. With his injuries going out of the valley is a dead sentence.

There is a way to heal his injuries, to advance and become a magic beast. To become a magic beast, he has to first master the innate spell and then open the magic space inside and form the magic core.

But the innate spell ' Earth Element' control made him confused about how to master it. Gavin knows he was lucky, a clone he got by luck has such a powerful innate spell but it also made it difficult to master.

The broadness of the spell made him confused about how to master the spell. As he is lost in thought thinking about how to master the spell.

After a few minutes of brainstorming an idea appeared in his mind. " The spell is called Earth Energy Control. But from his previous life, he knows every energy has a hierarchy."

The wolf who only awakens his innate spell corresponds to the initial and intermediate apprentice psychic in his previous life. The wolf so with his weak strength cannot control high-level earth energy.

So, to master the spell, he has to find high-level earth energy and evolve his earth element control toward the direction to control the high-level earth energy.

But, with his main body seal, the clone is injured, and the tribe that believes him is a small, weak tribe even without any late and peak apprentice strength so all this brings him to square one.

But he has an idea of how to master the spell without any 1st rank Earth energy. But before that, he has to eat, his stomach is crying in hunger. Gavin sends a message to the elder explaining- To bring half of the bear meat to the location of the west of the tribe.

He with his spiritual field knows the elder is asleep but he is their god. So, his needs are more important than the needs of any individual in the tribe.

Gavin watches the elder wake up with a jolt after receiving his message and without any question, he gets out of his house and knocks on the door of Al and Sorn as their home is near him.

And with them, the elder starts carrying the meat toward the place where his clone is lying on the ground. Their eyes widen when they spot the huge wolf but after receiving Gavin's message they put the meats in front of the wolf and without showing their backs to the wolf they walk away.

Gavin watches as the clone consumes the meat in 5 minutes. And after, the clone controls the 'earth elemental' energy around it to gather to form a huge stone.

His idea is to form a stone with the 'earth elemental' energy and to make the stone stronger than its current form. If the stone becomes stronger, the energy that forms the stone will also become stronger.

With his spiritual field, it is easier to make the stone stronger but his spiritual field cannot differentiate 'earth elemental' energy from spiritual energy. His true body is sealed, so with the spiritual field, he cannot observe 'blood energy'.

So, the clone has to make the stone stronger himself but he was in his previous life a nine-rank psychic. He did not follow the way of energy psychics but he knows energy psychics, and how they advance in their realm.

To become an energy psychic, in the apprentice realm, one has to merge with 0-rank energy and then advance the energy from 1-rank to 4-rank. 1-rank energy corresponds to the 1st to 3rd rank psychic and so on and on with the 4-rank energy corresponding to the immortal body realm.

Gavin was only a nine-rank psychic so, his knowledge stopped in how the six branches of psychics advanced to the immortal body realm.

The stone he formed with 'earth elemental' energy and ordinary stones around the valley, the elemental particles behind both the stones are the same. Both stones have one earth source particle with the other 'earth elemental' attached to the source.

Gavin first to make the stone stronger decided to add another earth source particle to the stone. So, he dispersed the stone he formed and tried to find how to form an earth source particle.

He knows that earth source particles are formed by the merging of multiple earth elements, but he does not yet understand how many elements are required or how to merge them. The particles behave like magnets, simultaneously repelling and attracting each other, making the process challenging.

Determined, the clone begins attempting to merge the earth element particles. However, with each particle added, the difficulty grows. The repelling forces between the particles intensify, making every subsequent merge more demanding. With full concentration and ignoring everything around him, Gavin painstakingly merges one particle at a time with the gathered cluster.

Then, suddenly, as the merging process continues, an unexpected attraction force is released from the cluster of merged particles. To Gavin's surprise, additional earth element particles begin merging with the cluster on their own. Within a minute, an earth source particle forms, with a single earth element particle orbiting it.

Astonished, Gavin broadens his perception, and where the earth attribute source particle had been, a small floating stone now stands, suspended in the air. He pulls his thoughts back, but the stone doesn't vanish; instead, it falls gently to the ground.

He notices something else—his control over 'Earth Element' energy has noticeably increased. A sense of satisfaction radiates from the rune spell in his sea of consciousness. A smile spreads across the clone's face, and in his spiritual vision, it looks unsettling.

The sight of a wolf smiling in the middle of a forest at night would be enough to frighten anyone. Yet, Gavin feels no fear—only excitement—as he has discovered a path to mastering the Earth Energy Control spell—two paths.

The first path is to strengthen the stone, transforming it into a first-rank material. The second path involves observing and creating other earth element materials. After some thought, he decides to follow the first path, as he is uncertain how many different types of earth element materials he would need to observe and create.

He knows if he can observe a 1st rank earth element material in its particle form and create it then the wolf will have no obstacle advancing to a magic beast realm and in a short amount of time, he breezes past this realm and advanced to the bronze magic beast realm.

1st rank materials in this world are called bronze-rank materials. Gavin plans to transform the stone into a stronger material, so he decides to create another earth element source and connect the two sources.

The repulsion force between the two sources is increased by 10 times compared to the repulsion between 'earth element' particles. After many, tries the two sources are unable to merge as it is difficult to make the two sources touch each other.

So Gavin merged the particles revolving around the two sources forming multiple small merge clusters between the two sources, which makes them connect.

When Gavin zooms out of his spiritual vision, he finds the stone he created the size doubles in a minute, and they merge another two sources with the existing two sources.

And then suddenly 'earth element' floods the clone's body, healing his injury in a minute, and the 'earth element' rushes into the sea of consciousness increasing the size of the sea of consciousness.

He feels a shackle being removed from his body and the body growing larger and stronger.

Gavin, sealed inside the statue, observes through his spiritual field as the aura of his clone increases along with the size of its body.

After the baptism of spiritual energy concludes, Gavin directs his magic energy to explore every part of his body. During this process, he discovers a faint door within himself. Using his magic energy, he crashes into the door, forcing it open. Beyond it lies a dark space, and just above this void, he senses the presence of his sea of consciousness.

Following the guidance of the wolf's inherited bloodline, he channels his magic energy to form a magic core. Once he feels his realm stabilize, he opens his eyes to find the clearing around him has shrunk. His clone's form, once a 10-foot-long, 60-inch-tall wolf, has grown to 12 feet in length and 75 inches in height. The dusty hue of its fur remains unchanged.

Now capable of leaving the valley for a hunt, Gavin decides he should also bring back a beast to the tribe in exchange for half the bear meat. However, before doing so, he concentrates on the earth elemental energy to form source particles.

Pushing himself, he doesn't stop at one or two but successfully creates ten source particles. He even combines them, though the material formed remains within the limits of 0-rank and does not advance to bronze rank.

In his normal vision, he has created a 5-square-foot dark stone. Reflecting on this, he recalls that clustering four source particles had allowed him to advance into a magic beast.

He had expected that clustering ten source particles might elevate him to a Bronze-rank magic beast, but this does not occur. Setting aside the thought, for now, Gavin begins running toward the mouth of the valley.

After a few minutes, he slows down as he reaches the narrow passage between the mountains. He is cautious because Gavin's real body remains sealed in the center of the valley inside the stone statue.

His spiritual field extends only around the valley, preventing him from sensing events outside. However, the clone can still transmit information—what it sees, smells, and hears—back to Gavin's main body.
