Chapter 6: The Special Gift [4]
The sun was rising and Abel still hadn't gotten any sleep. He kept having nightmares of the demon and decided to workout.
It was the only thing he could really do that took his mind off everything.
Abel felt the sunlight beam through his windows directly onto his eyes, causing him to cover them with his arm.
He stopped exercising and took a shower to get cleaned up from all the physical activity he's been doing.
He put on some clothes that he found in the room and took out his phone for gps.
Abel was planning on going out to eat for his first day, until he remembered he had no money.
In this world, money was everything for normal people like him. If you were a powerful figure, you can get nearly anything even without money.
Even though he needed money to eat at a nice place, there were places open for those without any money.
It's a place created by the government, which is actually a puppet controlled by the powerful individuals of this world.
But Abel couldn't care less about the lore of this world, he has given up on his mission and is now ready to live a life far beyond anything he would've lived back in Earth.
He went inside the tiny shack and sat down at one of the four seats just behind a small table that was across from the grill where the chef cooked.
The chef, a old man noticed Abel's arrival. He put down his knifes and spatula and grabbed a paper towel to clean his hands.
"I only serve burgers, but we do have plenty of beverages. What would you like to drink?"
"I'll have an orange juice."
(Orange juice or apple juice? What's better?)
The chef nodded and clicked a button on the table. The orange juice appeared out of think air.
"The burger will be ready in a few minutes."
Abel nodded and turnt around to enjoy the city view. He really wanted to drive one of those flying vehicles.
He can go take his drivers licenses as an excuse to drive one of them.
He really needed money, but the idea of working a normal job was draining. He wasn't sure how long he would have to live if he didn't change the story fast enough.
He looked at the ring on his finger. If he sold the spatial ring and armor, he would make a fortune.
He felt bad stealing from Kyle, but it wouldn't put any dent in his pockets. He gets these things for free since his father owns the biggest manufacturer company of hunter gears.
"Your burgers ready."
The chef put the plate infront of him and Abel began munching.
It wasn't breakfast, but it was food.
Five minutes later, Abel had finished both his burger and orange juice.
"Thank you, boss."
"No problem."
He got up to leave, but stopped because of a familiar face.
"How'd you know I was here?" Abel asked nervously.
"I followed you yesterday." Vince said casually as he sat down and placed an order.
Abel was slightly scared as to why Vince would follow him around the city. He knew he was a good guy, but this was still a weird thing to do.
Then he remembered Kyle's gear, "Here's the ring. I'll get the armor and give it back." Abel said taking off the ring.
"I couldn't care less about that. Kyle's dad a rich dude. Keep those stuff you need it more than him obviously." Vince said, looking around at the free to eat shack.
Vince tapped a seat gesturing for Abel to sit down. Abel hesitated at first but sat down.
"I'll be honest, I followed you because I was angry." Vince admitted.
"Huh?" Abel said. He was confused on why Vince was angry considering he rarely got angry.
"You have the ability to learn anything that takes normal people years, in just an hour. Then you saw a little demon and ran like a baby."
Abel stared at Vince, completely stunned. Who tries to comfort somebody this way.
"I know some people ain't built for this, but with your talent you were made for it. So stop being a bitch and get ready for another raid." Vince said seriously.
The chef and Abel stared at Vince in utter shock. Vince noticed their expressions and cleared his throat.
"I'm not good at these type of stuff. Understanding emotions and all that was never my strong suit." Vince said, staring at his burger with a sad expression.
"Uhm, it's alright bro. But I don't plan on going back." Abel said, hoping it would convince Vince to give up.
"Why did you want to raid?" Vince asked a sudden question that caught Abel off guard.
"Well, I'm not sure…" Abel said, hiding his true answer.
"Everyone raid for a reason. Some do it for family, others for themselves, and some even for insignificant reason like fun." Vince said staring Abel dead in the eye, "So why did you want to raid? Was it money? Family?"
Abel stayed silent for a moment, wondering how to answer.
"I'm dying." Abel said. It was a lie and a truth mixed.
Vince was taken aback. He was expecting money to be the answer. "How long do you have to live?" He asked.
"A few years at best." Abel replied. He wasn't sure of the time frame, but he assumed it would be a while considering his mission was to make a major change to the ending.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Vince said, "Why did you try and raid then? Did you want to try it before you died?" Vince asked.
Abel was once again put on the spot, his mind didn't work fast enough so he stayed silent pretending to gather courage.
"I heard a rumor that there was an elixir on one of the floors." Abel explained.
"I never heard of the rumor, but if it your only lead, then let me help you. I'll be your soldier until we find this elixir, but I also need your help." Vince spoke these words so seriously, rage on his expression.
The bloodlust he emitted was scaring both the chef and Abel shitless.
"I need your help to kill a demon far stronger and far scarier than the demon you fought. But you won't be alone, I'll train you to become a demon hunter so powerful that all demons will run from you in fear." Vince said, finally calming down after noticing his bloodlust.
Abel took a deep breath, "Why me though? I'm weak!" Abel asked.
"Are you that clueless? You're not weak, with your gift it would take you such a short time to become powerful enough to surpass me and everyone else in the group. I need that strength to get my revenge and I'll help you hone it to the absolute peak of its capabilities using my own gift."
"Your gift? What is it?"
