Chapter 740 - 740: 739, have you taken a fancy to someone?
Chapter 740: 739, have you taken a fancy to someone?
Wen Jin’s lips curled into a mild smile as he said, “She left in a car. But, I don’t remember the plate number.”
He seemed to anticipate what Gu Kai was about to ask and stopped him before he could utter a word.
Gu Kai frowned, “Which direction did she go?”
“That way.”
Wen Jin pointed to the left.
Seeing this, Gu Kai stopped asking. His gaze scanning the area, the anger on his body subsided and his voice stabilized, “Let’s go, I have surgery this morning.”
“Who is that woman? She seems to be quite attractive. You aren’t interested in her, are you? And she doesn’t like you?”
Wen Jin casually asked after the car resumed its journey.
Gu Kai, lost in his thoughts, heard him and rebuked, “Curiosity killed the cat, focus on driving.”
At these words, Wen Jin was immediately displeased, “Don’t treat me like your chauffeur.”
His eyes twinkled, and a mysterious smile crept on his lips, “Even if you don’t tell me, it’s okay. I’ll just call Ranran later. She’s always been interested in your wedding. If she knows that you’re interested in a girl and are so persistent, she’ll sure be curious.”
“Ah Jin, are you courting death?”
Gu Kai’s eyes narrowed suddenly, a sharp look shooting straight at Wen Jin.
Unfazed, Wen Jin chuckled, “I’m not tired of life. I served as your chauffeur for the day. If you don’t compensate me, I’ll be a bit unsatisfied.”
After saying this, the smile on his face intensified.
He didn’t believe that Gu Kai would remain silent. His behavior earlier piqued his curiosity.
Seeing Gu Kai glaring at him, he feigned surprise, “Ah, I just remembered, the plate number of that woman’s car was…”
“What was it?”
Gu Kai really felt like punching Wen Jin.
Knowing that he was intentionally suspenseful, he took a deep breath and asked coldly, “Do you really know?”
“Of course.”
Wen Jin nodded, wearing an expression of honesty.
“So, should I call Ranran to tell her, then you could ask her, or you could have someone check the mall’s surveillance, and they might find the plate number.”
Wen Jin could read Gu Kai’s thoughts, causing Gu Kai’s handsome face to darken, “That woman has wronged me in the past. Last time, she tricked me. This time in the mall, she yelled that I harassed her. Now, can you finally reveal it?”
“Haha!”
The response was Wen Jin’s hearty laugh.
Gu Kai kept taking deep breaths, telling himself, let him laugh.
He remembered that there would be a time when Wen Jin would fall into his hands. That time, he would see how Wen Jin laughs it off.
Wen Jin didn’t care about what Gu Kai was thinking.
After finishing his laugh, he said something that made Gu Kai want to kill him, “Ah Kai, actually, I didn’t look closely. You didn’t tell me beforehand that you went into the mall to look for a woman. I thought you were really going shopping. With so many people coming out constantly, how could I possibly focus on one woman?”
Through gritted teeth, Gu Kai replied, “Fine, I’m taking note of this.”
Upon hearing his words, Wen Jin felt a chill. But it didn’t matter, he had had his laugh. If he wanted to hold a grudge, let him hold it.

City C
The person who came to pick them up was An Lin, whom Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen had met once when they went for a walk.
Her long, sexy figure was encased in a business suit. Her every move revealed a strong, commanding presence.
She was waiting outside the security check early this morning. Seeing them come out, her gaze first swept over Qin Mu who was walking behind Wen Ran.
Then she turned to Wen Ran, greeting her with a warm hug and a smile.
“Ranran, welcome to join us.”
Although they had only met once before, An Lin didn’t address her as Miss Wen.
Instead, she called her Ranran directly, which was very friendly and significantly narrowed the gap between them.
An Lin was older than Wen Ran, so logically, Wen Ran should call her ‘sister,’ just like she addresses Shen Yuting.
But before Wen Ran could say anything, An Lin interrupted her, “Ranran, everyone calls me An Lin. You can call me An Lin too. Don’t consider me older and address me as something outdated.”
Wen Ran was momentarily taken aback, then laughed, “Alright, then I’ll call you An Lin like Qin Mu does.”
Happy with Wen Ran’s response, An Lin smiled satisfactorily. Only then did she turn to look at Qin Mu who was standing beside her.
catching his gaze on Wen Ran, she changed the topic in a concerned manner, “Ah Mu, how are you feeling now? Can you go to work?”
Qin Mu’s lips curved slightly as he calmly replied, “I’m fine now, I can work.”
“Two days ago, I was on call with Auntie. She mentioned that you look much better in G City than you did in A City. Initially, I didn’t quite believe her, but now I do.”
While saying this, she shot an unintentional glance at Wen Ran.
Qin Mu’s smile remained unchanged, his eyes slightly closing.
The business vehicle stopped at the company entrance, Luo Haofeng emerged from it.
Leading them into the company and alighting from the elevator, An Lin enthusiastically said, “Ranran, let me show you around to get familiar with the environment.”
“Okay.”
Wen Ran agreed with a smile and walked along with her.
Qin Mu’s gaze followed them until they disappeared from sight, then he turned to Luo Haofeng, “Let’s go, we’ll go to your office.”
As soon as they entered the office, Qin Mu asked, “What’s going on between you and Bai Xiaoxiao?”
Luo Haofeng’s face slightly changed as he sat down on the sofa before he reluctantly replied, “My mom threatened to kill herself if I don’t break up with Xiaoxiao, but I couldn’t bring myself to say it.”
Qin Mu frowned, no wonder Luo Haofeng didn’t seem as cheerful as usual.
He seemed to have an air of decline about him. When they went to the amusement park yesterday, Bai Xiaoxiao also appeared listless.
When he brought up Ah Feng, Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression seemed off.
“How did this happen, didn’t your parents approve of her when you took Bai Xiaoxiao home? Weren’t they satisfied with her?”
Qin Mu asked in confusion, Luo Haofeng’s mother was rather peculiar.
Strictly speaking, she was rather strict, and carried an air of arrogance typical of those from affluent families.
From a young age, she was queen-like, and all the girlfriends she introduced to Luo Haofeng were socialites of their equal status.
But Bai Xiaoxiao was also a good fit, wasn’t she?
Luo Haofeng looked a bit uncomfortable, his tightly pressed lips turning cold and hard.
He hesitated before finally speaking, his voice somewhat stiff, “My parents, and Xiaoxiao’s mother, knew each other a long time ago. If I had known this would happen, I wouldn’t have taken Xiaoxiao home that day. When my mom saw Xiaoxiao, her surprised expression made me feel uneasy.”
Qin Mu didn’t speak, but with a furrowed brow, he quietly looked at Luo Haofeng.
“She mocked and scoffed at Xiaoxiao. Xiaoxiao kept bearing it all. That night when I sent her back to the hotel, I wanted to explain to her, but my mom called and told me to come back immediately.”
He didn’t want to go back, but Bai Xiaoxiao wasn’t stupid. If someone didn’t like her, she would know it.
The deadly call came as soon as they reached the hotel. Naturally, she didn’t want to hear his explanation.
