"NO! NO, NO, NO, YOU FOOL! HOW COULD YOU! THIS WAS YOUR PLAN, YOUR ENTIRE PURPOSE! THIS—THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED, THE TRUE YOU, AND NOW? NOW YOU'VE RUINED IT ALL! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU'VE DESTROYED EVERYTHING, DO YOU UNDERSTAND? YOU KILLED YOURSELF, YOU ARROGANT, INSATIABLE BASTARD!" Darkness bellowed, his voice trembling with fury, no longer hiding behind his twisted grin. It was gone, that cruel smile. Instead, a burning rage filled the void of his being. His eyes—those endless, cold eyes—burned with a fierce recognition of failure. Raiden had escaped the very thing Darkness had designed to trap him in.
He had failed.
"I had it all... all of it," Darkness seethed, his voice low but venomous. "I crafted it perfectly, a boy—broken, hopeless, empty—someone who had nothing left, a soul ripe for despair. I gave him everything: the world, a dream. Then I tore it away. I thought for sure... in that brokenness, he'd bend to me. I'd control him, use him as a vessel. I'd be reborn through him, and all of existence would kneel to me. But now? Now... WHY HAS THIS ALL GONE WRONG?"
Aiden's soul simply stood there, and with it came a laugh. A low, mocking chuckle that grew into full-blown hysteria, filling the void around them. "HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAH!" His laughter echoed like thunder in the emptiness.
"YOU DAMN MONSTER! YOU STILL DON'T GET IT, DO YOU? WE'RE BOTH DEAD! THIS—THIS IS THE END! ALL THE YEARS—HUNDREDS, NO, THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF PLANNING, BUILDING, STRATEGIZING... AND YOU JUST STRIPPED IT ALL AWAY! A HUMAN?! A HUMAN?! DAMN YOU LIGHT!" Darkness' voice cracked. For the first time, a trace of weakness seeped through, a chink in the armor of an entity that had known nothing but dominance.
Aiden, still in the afterlife, continued to laugh, but this time, his eyes were filled with something else—something darker, yet strangely liberated. "It's almost poetic, isn't it? That you, the so-called 'ultimate villain,' the one who claimed to be above all, just couldn't stand that a human—a creature so insignificant—ruined your entire plan. All this time, it was just about jealousy, wasn't it? You, a petty little... child who couldn't handle the fact that your brother did it first."
Darkness flinched, seething with anger, his form shaking. "YOU DARE CALL ME PETTY?! YOU KNOW NOTHING! I AM THE SOURCE OF CREATION! THE VOID ITSELF!" His voice was rising, but inside, something cracked. "I thought it all... I thought of everything first. Creation, the first spark of life—my idea! Not his, mine! And what happens? He did it first, pushed me aside. I couldn't even have the satisfaction of owning it, of becoming it. And now... He wins again. Doesn't he?"
He paused, his face twisted in agonized defeat. Darkness had nothing left, nothing to fight for now. No more plans, no more schemes. The weight of his own frustration crashed down on him. He closed his eyes for a moment, lost in thought, consumed by his failures. The silence was deafening.
Then, Raiden's voice pierced the stillness, his laughter never ceasing. "Hahaha... really, though, it's amazing! You—you were the big bad. The ultimate villain, and what are you now? A jealous little child, throwing a tantrum because your brother did something you couldn't. All these plans, all this destruction—just so you could steal a creation that wasn't yours. This is the grand evil you've become? Pathetic... But hey, I guess it's all just petty fights in the end, isn't it? Life, the universe—it's all petty little squabbles, isn't it?"
"HOW DARE YOU! YOU—YOU THINK THIS IS PETTY?!" Darkness shrieked, a deep, guttural growl in his voice. His anger, his frustration, it all exploded in that moment.
Raiden only smiled, that same smug grin, and shook his head. "Oh, but it is. Instead of creating something of your own, something that stands above—you chose to fight it, to oppose his creation. Why? Because you couldn't stomach the idea of someone else doing it first. You're just a petty little... bitch. That's all this is."
Darkness recoiled, his fists trembling, before he was interrupted by something else—something pure, something far beyond him.
From the darkness, there emerged a presence—radiant, ethereal, with a beauty that transcended all. She stood before them, the light itself emanating from her in waves, her very being burning brighter than the stars. A divine force—Gaia, the essence of purity, of creation itself.
"Gaia..." Raiden muttered, his voice soft
"HAHAHAHAHAHA" Gaia's laughter rang out, light and melodic, though there was something bitter in it. She looked at both Raiden and Darkness, her eyes glimmering with an unspoken knowing. "Oh, Raiden," she chuckled softly, "calling Darkness a petty... little... Ahem... bitch. That's so you, my hero. So very you."
Darkness seethed with fury, his voice rising in rage. "What do you want, you pathetic slave of light?! Here to gloat as well?!" His voice was a raw snarl.
Gaia's gaze softened as she turned to face Raiden, ignoring Darkness's outburst entirely. "No... Actually, I came here for you, my son."
Raiden's shoulders sagged, his eyes shadowed with regret. He couldn't meet her gaze. "For me?" His voice was low, tinged with guilt. The truth hung heavy in the air. Killing himself had never been part of the plan, but it had been the only way to save everyone.
"Yes, for you," Gaia said, her voice warm and motherly, like the embrace of a long-lost home. "May I call you my son? I wish to be your mother, Raiden."
Raiden's heart clenched, and for a moment, his lips parted in a quiet, shaky laugh. "Of course you can... But what difference does it make now, huh? I'm dying anyway, so..." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, trying to force the tension from his body.
Gaia's smile deepened, though there was sadness in her eyes. "Die? Oh, Raiden, you misunderstand." Her hands glowed with ethereal light, and before him, his soul materialized in its raw form, split and fragile. "You are not dying, son. You are becoming Ea. The Sword of Rupture. The sword that represents the separation of heaven and earth, the embodiment of creation itself. What you've done is not death—it is a rebirth. You are recreating the world, yourself, piece by piece."
Gaia extended her hand, and Raiden's soul manifested in front of him. It was a fragile, fractured thing, slowly repairing itself with each pulse of light as it pushed back the darkness that had once claimed it.
Raiden's voice faltered as he watched the sight before him, still trying to understand. "But Mother... the soul, it's—"
Darkness's cruel laugh rang through the room, his voice thick with malice. "HA! HAHAHAHA! It's fading to death, you damn Light Slave! Don't you see? You're a planet soul, aren't you? Darkness has seeped through him, deep into his soul. If it's cut, he dies. You think I would let you save him? I may have lost, but at least this little shit dies here! It's over for him!"
Raiden, his mind racing, struggled to come to grips with the gravity of the situation. But Gaia remained calm, her voice unwavering.
"You are correct, Lord Darkness," Gaia said, her words slow but firm. "Raiden will die if his soul is cut... but..." Her eyes flickered with a secretive gleam. "What if it's replaced by something else? A soul so potent, so powerful, that it can replenish his, that it can make him survive?"
Darkness, realizing what Gaia was suggesting, roared in outrage. "And where, pray tell, will you find that soul, bitch? You'd have to kill a damn pla..... You crazy fucking Light bitch! DON'T YOU DARE DO THIS! THIS BOY IS MINE! HE'S MY RIGHTFUL HEIR, AND I WON! I CLAIMED HIS SOUL! HE DIES! NOW!"
Raiden's heart pounded in his chest as he realized what Gaia was about to do. He rushed forward, his voice a desperate plea. "No, Mother!"
Gaia's gaze softened, but her resolve only grew stronger. "Why not, Raiden? Am I not your mother? I brought you here. And you've already fulfilled your purpose. You've become all that you needed to be. You are my son. I will not let my own son die. I won't!"
Her voice trembled with emotion, and tears welled in her eyes, but her tone remained firm. "This game, as you say, Raiden, is a petty battle between two brothers. A childish fight that has cost millions of planet souls, trillions of sentient lives. And I WILL NOT let you die for it. Not my son. Not today. From now on, Raiden Kagawa, you will be reincarnated as the Soul of Earth. King Raiden Kagawa, Son of Gaia."
Raiden's mind raced, his body trembling. "But what about you, Mother? What will happen to you?"
Gaia's expression softened, her voice filled with bittersweet wisdom. "Me? I've lived long enough, Raiden. It's you who will carry the future now. You can be whatever you want. It's over. My mission for you... is fulfilled."
Raiden's heart ached as he reached for her. "No, you should have a chance to live, to experience life for yourself... You've given everything for Earth."
Gaia nodded slowly, a faint, knowing smile gracing her lips. "And I will, Raiden. Through you, my son. Through you, I will know life again."
Raiden's eyes filled with tears as the realization struck him. This would be the last time he would see her. "I should have done better, Mother. I—"
Gaia interrupted him, her voice firm but filled with nothing but love. "Never say that, my son. You've done more than enough. You're a hero, Raiden. You are my chosen one, my successor. You've proven that. The fact that you're here, right now, is more than enough. You've already done more than enough."
As her words echoed in his heart, Raiden's soul began to shine, and Gaia's form melted into a radiant ball of light, merging with him. Her light, her warmth, her essence, all of it intertwined with his soul, purging the last remnants of darkness. The King was Reincarnated.
