"Ning Xi, don't be mad." Guo Heming immediately turned to Mrs. Chen for help, "Auntie, please say something for me."

Ye Yujun didn't ask Chen Ningxi to come back just to argue. "Ning Xi, since Guo is here, you two should clear things up face to face today. Solving the problem is what's important."

Chen Ningxi understood her meaning and calmed her emotions before sitting down on the sofa, with Guo Heming also sitting down opposite Chen Ningxi as the atmosphere eased.

Guo Heming looked serious. "Ning Xi, I hope you can give me another chance to speak what's in my heart."

Chen Ningxi was silent for a moment, "Is that necessary?"

Guo Heming rose slightly and half-knelt on one knee before her, pleading, "It is, as long as you're willing to listen, it is."

Chen Ningxi looked down with a cold expression, "I don't think it's necessary anymore. Moreover, your actions have already disturbed my family. I hope this is the last time. If you come again, my mom won't open the door for you, so you better watch yourself."

"Ning Xi, Ning Xi, a relationship involves two people; it can't just end because you say so."

Chen Ningxi retorted sharply, "If it's a matter of two people, when you slept with another woman behind my back, did you think of me?"

"I had too much to drink that day," Guo Heming hurriedly interrupted her, turning his head to Ye Yujun to explain, "Auntie, I had won a lawsuit that day, and the client insisted on showing their gratitude. I really drank too much, and so did the client, who was out of it. I couldn't just leave her alone in a public place; if anything happened, I would be responsible. That's why I brought her home. Nothing happened between us, really, Auntie, Ning Xi misunderstood me."

Chen Ningxi looked towards Ye Yujun whose brows knitted together in displeasure. Rising to her feet, she said:

"You know in your heart whether it's a misunderstanding or not."

"Auntie, she really misunderstood me. You must believe me." Guo Heming implored desperately.

Chen Ningxi snapped, "Guo Heming, keep talking tough."

Seeing her reach for her phone, Guo Heming immediately realized the video he had made her delete before and asked frantically, "You didn't delete the video?"

After speaking, he regretted it immediately; turning to look at Ye Yujun, her expression had clearly become colder and more distant.

Chen Ningxi had used a mere feint to expose him, leaving Guo Heming with a sense of unwillingness yet helplessness.

Chen Ningxi said, "I'm glad to accommodate your request for a pounding."

Guo Heming awkwardly addressed Ye Yujun, "Auntie, I drank too much that day and didn't know anything."

Ye Yujun lowered her eyes, a stark contrast to her earlier demeanor, "Guo,"

"Yes, Auntie." Guo Heming, feeling guilty, drooped his head.

"Go back," Ye Yujun issued an expulsion order.

Guo Heming clenched his fingertips, "Ning Xi, can you forgive me just once? I promise in front of your mother that I will never do it again. I will not drink with other women anymore. Please, forgive me, okay? Give me another chance."

Chen Ningxi was resolute, shaking her head, "A man's promises are not credible."

Guo Heming remembered the earlier incident with the phone, "Ning Xi, you can record a video testimony of my promise. If I fail, you can make it public and ruin me."

Chen Ningxi said, "Not necessary."

Guo Heming couldn't afford to lose Chen Ningxi. She was his best opportunity to change his fate; willing to risk everything, he took her hand, aimed the phone at himself, and facing the camera began to apologize and make promises.

"Ning Xi, can you give me one more chance, please?"

Ye Yujun looked at Chen Ningxi impassively. Although Guo Heming indeed had done an indefensible thing, it was ultimately between them. If Chen Ningxi couldn't let go of him, Ye Yujun wouldn't obstruct them.

Chen Ningxi could tell that Guo Heming was indeed very regretful about the past, but his regret was not because he knew he was wrong, but rather a sense of helplessness when caught without an excuse.

The situation before their eyes was hopeless, and Guo Heming had to face it. His expression changed from humble and gentle to fierce and confrontational as he said to Chen Ningxi:

"Do you still have a backup of the video?"

Chen Ningxi knew he was suspicious, "No, I deleted everything on the day I went back."

Guo Heming reluctantly believed her and left the Chen Family. Just as he stepped out the door, Chen Ningxi chased after him.

Guo Heming immediately turned around, only to see Chen Ningxi bringing out his belongings, "Your things."

Guo Heming didn't accept them, just said lightly, "Don't need them."

Chen Ningxi didn't bother with him, just left the items in the corridor.

Guo Heming's pent-up anger finally burst out, "Do you think this whole mess is my fault?"

Chen Ningxi looked at him in disbelief, "What do you mean?"

With an indignant tone, Guo Heming said, "Don't play dumb. You wouldn't let me kiss or touch you. I'm a man; I have normal physical needs. If you don't let me touch you, I'll find another woman. Isn't it you who pushed me to this point today?"

His actions had not violated the law, but they were immoral.

"Guo Heming, your forgetfulness is really something! Shameless too! When we moved in together, we agreed in advance not to have relations before marriage. We were just trying to live together to see if there were any incompatibilities in daily habits. Now, you're putting all the blame on me; you're not only lacking in integrity but also cowardly. After finishing, Chen Ningxi slammed the door shut.

This infuriated Guo Heming so much that his face turned red, nearly exploding on the spot. The anger he couldn't vent was taken out on the gifts he brought, kicking and striking the items on the floor until he had released his rage before he finally left.

Chen Ningxi went into the kitchen, where Ye Yujun acted as if nothing had happened, busy with picking vegetables and cooking.

"Mom," she called out.

Ye Yujun continued with what she was doing, "Did he leave?"

"Yeah," Chen Ningxi took a deep breath, "He won't be coming over again." Worried about Guo Heming going back on his word, she warned, "If he does come again, don't open the door for him."

Ye Yujun put the sorted vegetables into a strainer, "He dares to make a scene at our doorstep after doing wrong, losing his composure like that shows he's emotionally unstable. Such a person, even if married, would cause endless quarrels over big and small matters. It's not worth entrusting your life to him. It's good that we found out earlier, or else you would be the one to suffer."

Chen Ningxi nodded.

Ye Yujun said, "I should give Mrs. Zhao a call later. This is unacceptable, how can someone arrange a match like this without properly understanding the person's character."

Taking this opportunity, Chen Ningxi indirectly hinted to avoid arranging blind dates for her, "Mom, don't bother calling. Just let it be. Also, don't keep asking people to introduce me to potential partners, I'd rather focus on my career for now."

Ye Yujun turned off the faucet and looked at Chen Ningxi, who pursed her lips, knowing that her mother wouldn't easily give up on the subject of blind dates.
