Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 53: Old dreams 2

On a bed, a boy could be seen with sweat dripping from his forehead, as if he was trapped in a terrifying nightmare. Ritsuka Fujimaru woke up with ragged breaths and stared at the ceiling with tired eyes. For the past few days, he hadn't been able to sleep properly. Whispers and strange memories had been appearing in his dreams. An inner feeling told him that this world was strange and unreal. His head was about to explode from exhaustion. He quietly got up from the bed and headed to the bathroom. He stared at himself in the mirror. The dark circles under his eyes were clearly visible. For a moment, he felt like his reflection in the mirror moved. Frightened, he took a step back and rubbed his eyes. It seemed like he was hallucinating from exhaustion. Ritsuka Fujimaru sighed and quietly walked to the kitchen, careful not to wake his parents. He picked up a knife and slipped out of the house.

He walked down the dark street. The streetlights cast a faint glow around him. He reached an empty park and sat on a swing. As he swung, he became lost in his thoughts. He wanted to do something insane. He felt like he was trapped in an illusion and that to wake up from it, he had to do something dangerous. He took a deep breath and brought the knife close to his neck. His hands were trembling, and his body was shaking with fear. All living beings fear death, and Ritsuka Fujimaru was no exception. What if he was wrong and died? What would happen to his parents? What if this was just a stupid feeling? At that moment, he heard whispers again; the whispers of a girl. Suddenly, his eyes closed tightly, and a strong will ignited within him. He pressed the knife against his neck and cut his skin. He fell off the swing. He felt his entire body grow cold. His eyes widened in fear, and he pressed his hand tightly against his neck. Gradually, he lost the energy to struggle, and his eyes grew heavy. The light of life faded from his eyes, and the world around him shattered like a mirror.

Ritsuka Fujimaru opened his eyes again, but this time he was in a starry sky. His forgotten memories returned to him, and he remembered everything. At that moment, a luminous being appeared. This being resembled an angel with three pairs of wings. Ritsuka Fujimaru froze upon seeing this being, as if his body was trembling from an ancient fear. This being was extraordinarily beautiful and androgynous, its gender ambiguous and indistinguishable. As Ritsuka Fujimaru's body trembled, he stared at the being. He could feel its gentle gaze, even though there was no malice in it, but the difference in their levels of existence filled Ritsuka Fujimaru with fear.

"Humans are truly strange and interesting creatures. Are you a fool or brave? Which one? What if this wasn't a dream?" Shikama Doji said in an amused tone, his golden eyes staring at Ritsuka Fujimaru. "The Last Master of Humanity, you truly deserve that title. The thought of you trying to wake up from a dream like this has even left me in awe."

Ritsuka Fujimaru asked fearfully, "Who are you?" and stared at Shikama Doji. He was like a rabbit standing before a lion. The mere presence of the lion filled the rabbit with fear. Shikama Doji looked at him with an amused expression.

"I have many names, but they are not important. The last master of humanity Ritsuka Fujimaru, do you want my help to confront Tiamat?" Shikama Doji replied in a gentle tone, leaving Ritsuka Fujimaru stunned. After a few seconds of thought, Ritsuka Fujimaru replied, "Please help us." He bowed slightly and continued anxiously, "We are truly in an emergency. The danger level of the Seventh Singularity is much higher than the previous ones. If a being like you helps us, It will be great."

Shikama Doji smiled softly, and the space around them shattered. In reality, Ritsuka Fujimaru, who had fallen asleep on Mash's lap, opened his eyes. But his blue eyes were now pure gold, like the sun. A gentle smile appeared on his lips, and as he got up from Mash's lap, most of his hair had turned white.

"Senpai!" Mash shouted happily, seemingly unaware of the changes in Ritsuka Fujimaru. Shikama Doji stared at Mash with an amused look. "The vessel that holds the spiritual foundations of Galahad, like that innocent child Mash, is so pure that she can even be compared to angels. Her soul shines like a holy sun." A golden aura emanated from Ritsuka Fujimaru and pierced the sky. The entire Singularity trembled in the face of this aura. Three pairs of holy white wings appeared behind Ritsuka Fujimaru. At the same time, Chaldea's systems began to malfunction. They couldn't estimate the power level of this being.

"Mash, run! The person in front of you is no longer Ritsuka Fujimaru. Someone is controlling his body!" Romani Archman shouted in worry. The being that had appeared had an incomprehensible level of power. This being made even the beasts seem insignificant. The sky of the entire Singularity turned golden, and holy white feathers fell to the ground. Shikama Doji's golden eyes seemed to see even Romani Archman, who was outside the Singularity. Romani Archman's body trembled, as if Shikama Doji was looking at him through the screen.

"It seems you've finally understood what it means to be human, my foolish apprentice. I'm very happy," Shikama Doji replied, leaving Romani Archman and everyone else in shock. Romani Archman couldn't understand the meaning of his words. Meanwhile, Gilgamesh and Merlin were also staring in shock at the golden sky and Shikama Doji.

"It seems we're in trouble. What is this being? Who is controlling Ritsuka Fujimaru? Based on its wings, it must be an angel, but which angel is this powerful?" Merlin replied, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. His usual playful demeanor had disappeared.
