Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 45: Travel in the starry sky

In the dark and endless void of the cosmos, a being was seen moving at a speed equal to that of light—a speed that even the most advanced spacecraft of interstellar civilizations could not achieve. Shikama Doji continued his journey through this boundless expanse. In this millennium, astonishing and terrifying events had unfolded. After a long voyage through the starry sky, he encountered countless wonders. The universe was teeming with advanced civilizations, some built on science and others on magic. The grandeur and magnificence of these civilizations were such that even imagining them seemed impossible for humans.

At the beginning of his journey, Shikama Doji was filled with excitement. The knowledge possessed by these ancient civilizations was beyond anything he had ever seen. But the further he traveled through the cosmos, the more he came to the conclusion that humanity deserved pity. Due to the existence of two parasites named "Alaya" and "Gaia," humanity would never be able to reach such a level of advancement. They were doomed to perish on the planet where they were born, never able to transcend it.

The alien races in the cosmos were biologically miraculous. Various forms of life were scattered throughout the universe. Beings capable of manipulating space-time, eldritch entities residing in the rifts of space, and even creatures that could infinitely replicate themselves. Some of these beings were connected to the Root and could distort reality. As Shikama Doji had expected, the level of power in the cosmos was terrifyingly high. It was like a dark forest where the strong devoured the weak.

But beyond these civilizations, there were even stranger and more extraordinary beings and civilizations. Super-civilizations whose spacecraft could travel at the speed of light and possessed dark technologies that defied logic. In the face of such grandeur, the glory of humanity was nothing. During one of his journeys, Shikama Doji encountered a sun that, like Gaia, possessed an independent will. This being, a celestial entity of high rank, wielded power beyond [Counter Force]. A being that could annihilate galaxies with a single thought. Truly, the cosmos was a terrifying place.

On this journey, Shikama Doji also witnessed wars between civilizations. Wars that destroyed star systems and weapons of mass destruction that wiped out life on a planet in mere seconds. The ruthlessness of these civilizations in war was beyond imagination. Unlike humans, who often acted on emotions, these alien beings operated purely on logic and cold calculation. As a result, they easily formed alliances and were highly efficient. While humanity was constantly at war with itself, these civilizations were united and utilized their full potential for progress.

During this time, Shikama Doji's power grew at an explosive rate. By absorbing the knowledge of various civilizations and conducting his own experiments in the cosmos, he rapidly advanced. Now, he could confidently claim that, at full power, he was capable of destroying a star system with a single strike. He now possessed half the power of an [Counter Force]. But amidst this, many questions plagued his mind. Was this world created by Kinoko Nasu? If so, what about other novels, manga, and anime? If they were also real, who created them? Shikama Doji began to wonder if this world had always existed and that writers had merely received their ideas through information leakage from other dimensions.

But what troubled Shikama Doji the most was that no matter how hard he tried to alter certain historical events, some things remained unchangeable. It was as if an invisible hand was guiding these events. Why were the history and legends of this world so similar to Shikama Doji's own world? Who had shaped this history? If there truly was an invisible hand guiding these events, whose hand was it? Shikama Doji's eyes grew more serious.

Am I inside a novel or something similar? Does my existence exist solely for the entertainment of readers? Has everything about me been shaped by the will of a being beyond reality? If the author stops writing, what will happen? And most importantly, how can I confront the malice of such beings? Shikama Doji's mind was filled with these questions, and he sought answers that might never be found.
