Chapter 132: Chapter 116: Humans and Goblins Are Both Good Businessmen!
The Dwarf King couldn't help but sigh. When it came to business, there were only two groups that excelled: the cunning goblins and humans. Though he despised the goblins, he begrudgingly admired their knack for profit-making.
Rhodes, standing nearby, nodded thoughtfully. "The best promotion for a weapon is in its use during battle," he said. "Imagine this—a soldier draws a gleaming steel sword, and before the enemy magician can cast a spell, the blade disrupts their magic array. Defeat is swift, decisive, and undeniable."
The Dwarf King grinned at the imagery. "If we can secure orders for such weapons, it would set the entire city into motion. Everyone would be involved—humans, dwarves, and everyone else." With that, he hurried off to finalize preparations.
---
Outside the city, a group of five adventurers made their way through the rocky terrain. Among them, one carried a divine weapon, though it didn't seem to give the group much confidence.
"Xia, are you sure there's really a dragon here?" one of the men asked the woman leading the group. "Dragons are legendary creatures. Finding one here is more than unlikely—it's absurd!"
Xia, the leader, didn't even glance back. Her determination was evident. "Dragons may be rare, but I'll find one. Once I do, I'll finally outshine my cousin and her smugness over that rock dragon she's always flaunting."
"But, Xia," another adventurer chimed in, "what's the plan if we actually find one? Can we even handle a dragon?"
Xia smirked. "Don't worry. I have a plan. But first, we need to locate a fire dragon."
The group laughed and chatted as they pressed deeper into the rocky terrain, oblivious to the watchful eyes of a hidden figure. Behind a massive boulder, a creature crouched low. Its white body blended into the surroundings, and its piercing red eyes tracked the adventurers with eerie intensity.
The creature's gaze flickered momentarily before it vanished without a sound.
---
Moments later, a deafening roar erupted across the stone skies, shaking the ground.
"Roarrr!!"
The sound was so immense that it reached the city, startling Rhodes. "What was that?" he asked sharply.
Before anyone could answer, a figure stumbled into the room, out of breath. "Sir! We found an injured woman outside the city. She's barely alive!"
Rhodes wasted no time. "Take me to her."
---
When Rhodes arrived at the scene, a crowd had already gathered around the injured woman. She was young, barely more than a girl in his eyes, though her appearance betrayed her harrowing ordeal.
"What happened to her?" Rhodes asked.
The Dwarf King, who had already examined her, responded grimly. "She's missing a chunk of flesh from her abdomen. Whatever attacked her left her on the brink of death. Her breathing is shallow, and her condition is critical."
Rhodes observed the girl closely. Despite her injuries, she was strikingly beautiful. However, her appearance wasn't his concern. What mattered was the roar he had heard earlier.
"Did anyone see what happened?"
The Dwarf King shook his head. "When we arrived, a few people from the tavern were already there. They left to avoid conflict with us, so we couldn't get much information."
Rhodes nodded, his thoughts racing. "We need to save her. She might be the only one who can tell us what happened. That roar—it sounded like a dragon's."
Though Rhodes held no fear of dragons, he knew their potential for devastation. For him, dragons were merely stepping stones for his research, but the people of Dwarf City weren't as invincible.
"Send out the guards," Rhodes commanded. "Have them investigate the surroundings. Report back immediately if they find anything unusual. And be cautious—dragons are not like the Wild Boar King. They're vengeful creatures."
The Dwarf King nodded and rushed to carry out the orders. Meanwhile, Rhodes returned to his quarters to test the kunai he had obtained earlier. After experimenting, he discovered its maximum range was around 300 miles—truly a lifesaving artifact.
---
Just as he was finishing his tests, a familiar system prompt appeared.
"Ding! Do you want to sign in to the Naruto World?"
"Sign in!" Rhodes replied without hesitation.
"Ding! Sign-in successful. Congratulations! You have obtained the Grass Pheasant Sword!"
Rhodes inspected the sword with mild disinterest. While it was a finely crafted weapon, it didn't meet his high standards. He needed something capable of slaying gods, and this sword fell far short of that mark.
As he set the sword aside, a knock came at his door.
"Sir, the girl has regained consciousness," a voice called out. "She's revealed some crucial information. Please join us in the conference room."
Rhodes nodded. "Understood. I'll be there shortly."
---
In the conference room, the girl sat slumped in a chair, her expression vacant. Her eyes reflected a deep, unrelenting fear, as though her very soul had been scarred.
Rhodes observed her closely. "Her soul has been eroded by something," he muttered. "I don't know what, but my guess... it's a dragon."
The Dwarf King, standing nearby, looked uneasy. "What do we do now?"
Rhodes shook his head. "We need to proceed carefully. Dragons are dangerous, and this situation is more dire than it seems."
