Fairy, Don’t Be Afraid, I’m Blind

Chapter 103: Senior Sister Wangshu

Chapter 103: Senior Sister Wangshu

The vast sky was clear and blue, stretching endlessly.

A silver-white immortal boat nimbly navigated through towering mountains, white clouds, and cascading waterfalls.

The boat was not large, with a streamlined design that allowed it to cut through the air at incredible speed. It was also equipped with a formation to conceal its presence, making it invisible not only to mortals but also to rogue cultivators in the mountains.

Inside the modest cabin of the boat, the decor was simple yet elegant. The largest space was occupied by a lotus platform, upon which lay a sleeping young man in black robes.

Beside the young man knelt a girl wearing a jade rabbit mask. Her hair and dress were white, and even the faintly visible skin on her hands was as pale as crystal. The only part of her face visible was a pair of blue, crystal-like eyes, which were now curiously examining You Su’s face as if he were some kind of docile animal. This added a touch of innocent humanity to her otherwise ethereal demeanor.

Since bringing You Su onto the boat last night, Heavenly Maiden Wangshu had been watching him like this, seemingly unable to get enough. She had grown up on Lotus Peak and, due to the strict rules the Mystic Firmament Sect had set for her, had rarely interacted with outsiders. She didn’t even have any friends of the same gender, let alone the opportunity to observe a young man of the opposite sex so closely.

She blinked and softly murmured, “Junior Brother…”

Her voice was extremely quiet, but coincidentally, You Su’s eyelashes fluttered, and he woke up. Heavenly Maiden Wangshu didn’t move away but continued to kneel beside him.

The first thing You Su did upon waking was call out Ji Lingruo’s name, but there was no response.

Last night, he had been chatting with his Junior Sister under the moonlight, their affection for each other growing stronger. He had vowed to stay awake until the moment of their parting, but after catching a whiff of a strange, enchanting fragrance, he had inexplicably fallen asleep.

Not receiving a response, You Su felt a pang of panic. In his blurred vision, the only figure nearby was a white-clad person, but it wasn’t Ji Lingruo.

Realizing something, You Su quickly sat up. He recognized the masked fairy who had appeared with his Master’s Wife and asked, “Fairy… where are we?”

“This is the cabin of the Cloud Lotus Boat.”

“Cloud Lotus Boat?”

“The Cloud Lotus Boat is Master’s magical tool. We’re riding it back to the Mystic Firmament Sect.”

“What time is it now?”

“Noon.”

The cabin’s windows were adorned with white curtains that fluttered in the breeze. The early autumn sunlight streamed in, still carrying some warmth. You Su’s mood sank as he regretted not being able to properly say goodbye to his Junior Sister. Upon reflection, that strange fragrance must have been Ji Lingruo’s doing, a way to avoid the sorrow of a conscious farewell.

You Su sighed inwardly, thinking that perhaps it was for the best. After all, this wasn’t a life-or-death separation. The path of cultivation was long, and they would meet again someday.

After sighing, he took a deep breath, burying his regret, and began to carefully observe his surroundings with his spiritual sense, pondering his current situation.

He must have been found by his Master’s Wife after falling asleep and was now being taken to the Mystic Firmament Sect by her. Given her extraordinary background, this journey was likely no small matter.

“Is my Master’s Wife your master?” You Su asked hesitantly.

“Yes,” Heavenly Maiden Wangshu nodded.

“Then where is my Master’s Wife?”

Although the cabin was filled with the lotus-like fragrance of his Master’s Wife, she herself was nowhere to be seen.

“Master is meditating on the deck outside. She saw you sleeping and let you use her lotus platform.”

You Su was momentarily stunned. This revelation made him feel both honored and uneasy. He quickly stood up and left the lotus platform, exclaiming, “How could that be?”

He was about to go out and bring his Master’s Wife back inside, but Heavenly Maiden Wangshu blocked his path with her sword.

“Master said not to disturb her. She told me to watch over you and make sure you rest properly. You can’t just go out as you please.”

“Alright.”

You Su didn’t want to conflict with his Master’s Wife’s disciple or go against her wishes by disturbing her, so he reluctantly stepped back. Looking around, he felt too embarrassed to sit back on the lotus platform and was about to find a spot on the floor when Heavenly Maiden Wangshu spoke again.

“Master told you to sit on the lotus platform, so you should sit on the lotus platform.”

You Su raised an eyebrow. The masked fairy’s tone was firm, as if she regarded her master’s commands as absolute. He couldn’t help but think to himself that his Master’s Wife’s disciple was far too obedient.

Reluctantly, he sat back on the lotus platform. For a moment, he didn’t know what to say. Strangely, even though he and the unfamiliar masked fairy had fallen into silence, You Su didn’t feel awkward at all. Instead, it felt natural.

Feeling her gaze lingering on him, You Su couldn’t help but ask, “My name is You Su. May I ask for your name, Fairy?”

“Wangshu.”

You Su, who had lived a sheltered life, had never heard of Heavenly Maiden Wangshu’s fame. He was curious why she didn’t have a surname. Wanting to build a good relationship with his Master’s Wife’s disciple, he clasped his hands respectfully and said, “So it’s Heavenly Maiden Wangshu. I’ve long admired you.”

“You’re my Junior Brother. You shouldn’t call me Heavenly Maiden Wangshu. You should call me Senior Sister.” Heavenly Maiden Wangshu corrected him earnestly.

You Su thought about it. Since he was his master’s disciple and she was his Master’s Wife’s disciple, even though they weren’t from the same sect, calling her Senior Sister wasn’t inappropriate. However, she looked like a young girl. How could she be his Senior Sister and not his Junior Sister?

“Fairy, are you older than me?”

“I’m forty-nine years old.”

Heavenly Maiden Wangshu’s tone was calm, but You Su was still shocked. Although cultivators could maintain their youthful appearance, the idea of someone nearly fifty years old looking like a young girl was hard to grasp.

While cultivators lived longer lives, they didn’t reach thousands of years. You Su remembered his master telling him that even the most powerful Void Realm experts wouldn’t live past five hundred years—it was a law of heaven and earth. For Heavenly Maiden Wangshu to look like a young girl at nearly fifty was astonishing.

“How old are you?”

You Su was taken aback but answered, “I just turned eighteen.”

“Then you’re my Junior Brother.” Heavenly Maiden Wangshu nodded slightly, as if confirming something. Her blue eyes brightened as she asked, “So, has Master been with you for these two thousand, nine hundred, and fifty-one days?”

“…” You Su was momentarily speechless. He felt as if she had calculated the days so precisely to hold him accountable for something, but her tone carried no reproach. It seemed she was simply seeking an answer.

“Uh, yes, that’s right.”

“Does Master often talk to you?”

“Not really.”

“Does Master teach you sword techniques?”

“She gives me some guidance occasionally.”

“Does Master…”

A series of questions about his Master’s Wife made You Su break out in a cold sweat. This Senior Sister seemed overly concerned about her master. Thinking about how he had monopolized her master’s attention for eight years, he felt a bit guilty.

You Su also realized that Heavenly Maiden Wangshu’s aloof and unapproachable demeanor was just a facade. In reality, she didn’t seem cold or distant at all. If anything, she reminded him of a lonely teenage girl full of questions.

“Alright, Senior Sister, you’ve asked me so many questions. Now it’s my turn to ask you.”

Heavenly Maiden Wangshu tapped her chin with a jade-like finger, hidden behind her mask, and nodded. “Okay.”

“Senior Sister, you mentioned ‘returning to the Mystic Firmament Sect.’ Does that mean you’re from the Mystic Firmament Sect?”

“Yes.”

You Su was inwardly shocked. If Senior Sister was a disciple of the Mystic Firmament Sect and also his Master’s Wife’s disciple, then his Master’s Wife must hold a position at least as high as an elder in the sect. Although he had guessed from various clues that his Master’s Wife was extraordinary, he hadn’t expected her status to be so high—practically at the pinnacle of the Central Realm Continent.

What surprised him even more was how someone as powerful as his Master’s Wife could have taken an interest in his master, who couldn’t even fly and was only at the Water Condensation Realm.

“May I ask, Senior Sister, what is your master’s true identity?”

Heavenly Maiden Wangshu, however, didn’t answer as readily as before. She shook her head lightly and said, “Master told me not to say. She said she is your Master’s Wife. If you want to know more, you can ask her yourself.”

You Su recalled the conversation he had with his Master’s Wife that day. When she asked if he wanted to know who she was, he had refused, and she had fallen silent. Now, hearing these words from Senior Sister, You Su couldn’t tell if it was his Master’s Wife’s way of responding to his stubbornness or if she truly felt the same way he did.

Either way, You Su felt a strange sense of joy. It seemed his Master’s Wife had truly changed toward him.

“Then, Senior Sister, could you tell me about the Mystic Firmament Sect? I’ve lived in Chuyun City all my life and am quite ignorant.”

“What does ‘ignorant’ mean? Does it mean you’re a bit stupid?”

You Su broke out in a cold sweat. “Uh, more or less.”

“Master never says I’m stupid.”

Heavenly Maiden Wangshu’s blue eyes sparkled, and for the first time, You Su detected a hint of emotion in her voice—a touch of pride.

“The Mystic Firmament Sect is the largest sect on the Eternal Height Divine Mountain. It has thirteen branches—mechanical arts, alchemy, artifact forging, spirit plant cultivation, beast taming, spirit architecture, spellcraft, formations, talismans, calligraphy, blade techniques, and two branches of sword techniques. Each branch corresponds to one of the thirteen peaks of the Mystic Firmament Sect, with a grand elder specializing in that field presiding over each peak. The peak of spellcraft, Mystic Firmament Peak, is the foremost, and its peak master is also the Sect Leader. In addition, there are twenty-three minor elders, each with their own responsibilities and expertise.”

Hearing this, You Su couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe. Unlike the Spiritual Treasure Sect, which specialized in a single path, the Mystic Firmament Sect encompassed a vast array of disciplines, flourishing in every direction. This breadth of vision and ambition had elevated the Mystic Firmament Sect to the status of the number one sect in the Central Realm Continent.

This conversation also opened a new world to You Su. In his mind, a magnificent and grand world of cultivation began to reveal itself, though only the tip of the iceberg.

Eagerly, You Su continued to question his newly recognized Senior Sister. Wangshu, looking at You Su’s wide-eyed curiosity, seemed to see a reflection of herself in her master’s eyes. She didn’t find it bothersome at all and patiently answered each of her Junior Brother’s questions.

The solitary boat sped through the autumn sunlight, heading toward the highest peak in the world, disappearing into the boundless sea of clouds.
