Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss

Chapter 219: Dead Men Tell No Tales

The torches flared violently as the Bishop raised his hand, fingers trembling not with hesitation but sheer intensity.

A wave of compressed pressure rolled out from him like a silent bomb, expanding through the air and slamming into the walls. Shelves creaked under the stress, the tomes and dusty scrolls trembling as if the building itself feared what was to come.

Ren took a step back, eyes narrowing. He could feel it. The resonance loop, old and vast, unfolding from the Bishop's body like an unfurling scroll.

It wasn't just raw strength. It was a power that had been studied and was known both in and out. This wasn't the posture of a man fighting to defend himself.

It was the posture of a judge delivering execution.

Beside him, Lilith stood perfectly still, like a statue that had been carved out of stone. Her eyes never left the Bishop's.

When she spoke, her voice was low. "We fight." Just a statement of fact.

There was no countdown. No pause.

The elite Chosen moved first, six of them, arrayed in a diamond formation, trained to fight in concert like a singular, resonating instrument.

The first two flanked the room with terrifying speed, moving just a bit faster than Ren himself, their swords in their hands. The others raised their hands, unleashing a coordinated cascade of elemental force designed for one thing only.

Destruction.

Flame arced towards them, the air crackling with heat and rage. Gusts of sharpened wind spinned towards them in the shape of crescent moons, and walls of gravity folded inward towards them, crushing the shelves as they traveled towards him.

Ren acted on instinct.

Push: Vault.

A blast of force erupted from beneath his boots, launching him up and over the shelves as the attack ripped through where he'd just been standing. He landed in a crouch and kept moving, sliding behind a column that instantly cracked under another impact.

Lilith didn't move.

She watched.

Her Soul Dominion sprouted around her, soul energy wreathing her like a flame, protecting her from the effects of the attack.

She kept staring at the Bishop, who blinked in shock.

When one of the flanking Chosen lunged at her, his sword aimed for her chest, she lifted her hand, and a thread of soul energy erupted from her, striking through the air like a serpent.

A shield of fire erupted in front of the Chosen, but the thread pierced through it like it wasn't even there, found the jagged edge of his soul, and slid in. His eyes went wide, then blank, as he dropped like a puppet with its strings cut.

Ren zipped through the room and nearly got caught by a spiral of flame, but with a spin and a hasty 'Push: Redirect,' he threw the fire wide, sending it into a nearby pillar that exploded in a burst of smoke and debris.

And still, the Bishop had not moved.

He stood at the threshold of the room, arms outstretched, murmuring beneath his breath. His loop expanded, weaving into the walls, into the ground, into the very architecture of the room itself.

That was when Ren realized it.

The records weren't just protected by his resonance. They were part of the Bishop's domain. The room itself was a weapon.

Shelves collapsed suddenly, not by force but command, sealing off his movements. The torches blazed blue, reacting to the Bishop's loop. Even the floor began to quake, the slight tremors building like a drawn breath.

"Ren!" Lilith shouted, drawing him out of his spiral of analysis. "The floors!"

He turned just as stone erupted beneath him, spear-like columns jetting upward.

"Push: Repel!" He planted his feet and blasted outward. The force of his Push buckled the incoming spears, snapping them mid-rise and sending splinters raining down.

Lilith tore another Chosen's soul from his body, his scream short-lived.

Three remained.

But now the Bishop moved.

His eyes opened fully. There was no humanity in them, only resonance, cold and pure.

He whispered, "Loop: Full Release."

And the world broke.

The floor collapsed in a sweeping arc from the Bishop's feet outward.

A third of the room crumbled, everything falling into blackness. A wind howled up from the void, and from the ruins rose glowing spears, formed of condensed resonance and embedded with passages from the Creation Church's holy scripture.

They hovered for a moment. Then, all at once, shot forward.

Ren braced himself. His loop spun faster around him.

"Push: Barrier!"

A wall of kinetic force slammed into place just in time to intercept two spears. The third curved intelligently, and nearly impaled him, grazing his ribs and spinning him backward.

Lilith was in motion, weaving between stone and fire, her cloak flapping behind her and her crimson eyes glowing bright. She looked like an avenging goddess.

She ripped the soul out of another Chosen.

Two left.

The ground trembled again.

The Bishop stepped forward, his resonance humming in the air.

Ren zipped through the room, landing beside Lilith.

"We need to end this." Ren said, eyes roving. "No survivors. No one to tell the tale of who did this."

Lilith huffed a smile. "Thought you'd never ask."

They didn't hesitate.

Ren began channeling all his resonance into control. This time, he wanted to attack instead of defend.

Lilith darted forward, drawing one of the last two Chosen out from their hidden position. As he lunged, Ren triggered a Push directly behind the man's foot, throwing him forward into Lilith's awaiting soul thread.

With an outstretched hand, Ren Pushed the final elite Chosen, sending him flying into the shelves and breaking his loop. Then, with a roar, he unleashed the Push straight into the room around him, cracking the columns holding up the ceiling and destroying the walls.

The ceiling began to fall around them, and the Bishop raised his hands again. As the room was being destroyed, his loop was unraveling and his control slipping.

"You will burn in the Creator's fire, heretics." He bellowed with wide eyes, slamming both fists into the ground.

Cracks webbed through the floor. Pure energy bled from the stone, glowing lines forming on it.

Lilith and Ren reacted as one.

They clasped hands, their resonance loops twisting into one another, standing as one against the Bishop's loop.

"Push: Collapse!" Ren roared.

"Pull: Unravel!" Lilith said, her voice high and clear.

The Bishop's loop convulsed.

Lilith's soul thread speared through the air and into the Bishop, grabbing a hold of his soul.

The Bishop screamed, eyes wide as light poured from his chest and mouth. His loop shattered like glass.

And with a yank, Lilith severed his soul from his body.

Voices echoed from the upper halls as More Chosen streamed down to the basement to check out the commotion.

The part of the room of records farthest from the door collapsed with a rumble, stone raining down from the ceiling.

"Let's get out of here." Ren grinned, grabbing Lilith's hand.

She looked back once, at the now blank eyed body of the Bishop, who stood there like a statue. They had what they wanted. Time to move to Lake Nihilum.

And with a whoosh of displaced air, they disappeared.
