Chapter 212: The Reason For Their Intrusion Part Two
The look of terror etched on the faces of the soldiers intensified as the dust slowly began to settle, revealing Emily's sinister smile. With a playful tone, she started counting the soldiers, "1, 2, 3, 4... That's quite the number of soldiers. Tell me, boys, were you all that desperate to get down here so quickly that you're all out of breath? But there is only one of me, though.
I don't think I can handle all of you on my own," she spoke sarcastically.
The soldiers, sensing the impending confrontation, tightened their grip on their swords. The air was charged with tension as they faced the demonic threat.
During the uneasy silence, Aiden's voice cut through the air, breaking the tension. He asked, "Are you the one responsible for the death of my comrade a few moments ago?" Aiden tensed up, his eyes narrowing as he confronted the demon who he suspects had just claimed the life of his fellow soldier.
Emily struck a menacing pose, leaning forward slightly as she responded, "What do you mean, oh? Are you referring to the soldier that died before the walls broke down?"
Aiden's tone was serious as he confirmed, "Yes."
A wicked smile crossed Emily's face as she replied, "And what if I am? What is it to you?" The air crackled with tension as Aiden confronted the demonic entity responsible for the death of his comrade.
Aiden, consumed by rage, charged at Emily with relentlessly. Concerned soldiers tried to warn him about rushing in without a plan, one shouting, "Aiden, wait! We need a strategy!"
Ignoring their words, Aiden loomed over Emily, leaping into the air with his sword posetioned overhead. His face wore a serious expression, fully intending to deliver a devastating blow. However, time seemed to slow down as Emily calmly replied to his sudden attack, "Hasty, aren't we? Don't be in such a rush to finish. If you're so hot-blooded, you won't last long."
The soldiers, watching the unfolding confrontation, anxiously observed Aiden's impulsive assault on the powerful demon.
Emily's smile widened as she swiftly straightened her right hand, instantly impaling Aiden in the chest while he remained suspended mid-air. Aiden, caught off guard, coughed up blood, blood flowed from both sides of his mouth. Gripping his sword, he let go, and it clattered to the icy floor below.
"You monster," Aiden mumbled weakly, his strength waning.
Bloodied and wounded, Aiden's eyes locked onto Emily, who looked at him nonchalantly. With a sudden sigh, she pulled Aiden closer, his body hanging limply. "That's the thing about guys nowadays," she remarked, her voice indifferent. "They don't last very long. It's disappointing, really."
Casually, Emily flung Aiden away, and he landed with a thud, his body falling on the cold ground. As his consciousness dimmed, his blood pooled around him, the pain became a distant echo.
Emily led the way, and more demons appeared from the shadows behind her. Their dark shapes contrasted against the icy background. They moved forward with a chilling rhythm, eyes locked onto the soldiers who prepared for the imminent attack.
As Aiden's body broke down, purple cracks spread across his body. The demons surged forward, launching an attack against the soldiers. Sparks erupted as blades clashed in a desperate attempt to counter the demonic onslaught.
During the chaos, other soldiers raised the alarm, urging everyone to evacuate. The adventurers from the guild, drawn by the earlier alarm, arrived at the scene. Among them was Magzi, a seasoned warrior with fiery red hair and gleaming armor and a slightly bulky frame. She demanded answers, shouting, "What's going on here?"
In the midst of the battle, a soldier managed to shout, "Demons!" before succumbing to a quick demise. The news hung heavy in the air as the adventurers faced the unfolding horror, along with the sudden realization that the peaceful night had transformed into a battleground against demonic forces.
"Stay close and watch each other's backs! We can't let them breach the heart of our territory!" Magzi shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Emily propelled herself forward, leaving a massive crater where she once stood. She charged at the soldiers, cutting them down one after the other.
With every swing of her demonic claws, heads and limbs flew, and amidst it all, she seemed to be wearing a sinister smile. It sent shivers down the spines of all those who saw her go on her rampage.
While the other demons rampaged, casting spells, fighting head-on and from the skies, the other adventurers were all busy fighting them with the best of their abilities.
Magzi, seeing the demon woman in front of her who seemed to be the strongest among the group, couldn't let her just continue her endless slaughter; she decided to step in. As Emily claimed the life of yet another soldier by ripping out his heart, she chuckled.
Flung the chunk of flesh away, her hands dripping with blood, her body covered with blood splatters from all the lives she had claimed, she mumbled, "This is way more fun than I thought it'd be. Now, who will be my next prey?"
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Emily, due to her very high senses, could hear a sword whizzing as it cut through the air, approaching her. She instantly turned around to face her attacker, a woman with red hair and red eyes, gritting her teeth, her face displaying her disgust.
In that split second, Emily used her claws to counter the attack of the incoming sword. Sparks flew as her hard nails clashed with the sword.
She instantly leaped backward to create some distance between herself and her attacker, still wearing her sinister smile.
Emily gestured inquisitively as she gazed at Magzi curiously. She mumbled, "Damm, that's quite the size of muscles you got there for a lady. With muscles like those, you'll most likely die single. Ain't no guy who's gonna marry a buff gal like you, no sir."
Magzi narrowed her gaze at Emily as she took on a battle stance. She spoke with a serious tone, "Seems your words are just as vulgar as your appreance. Disgusting."
