Every Beast Needs a Beauty

Chapter 7: Chapter 6: A Pair of Young Snake Beasts

The wind howled through the empty den, but Nuru remained still, his mind already twisting into something darker and insane.

"You insolent woman," he bellowed, his tone dripping with venom. "You have no tribe. No allies. No shelter to go back to. You think you can endure a life without me?! You're so pathetically in love with me that you willingly broke all connections with your family until you're discarded by everyone else! How do you plan to survive with an unborn child dragging you down?"

A cruel chuckle rumbled from his chest as his eyes gleamed with predatory amusement. "The mountain is the only place you know, and it belongs to me. I rule this wilderness—I decide who lives and who perishes."

Thereafter, an eerie calm settled over his features as he turned away from the location.

"Don't let me find you too soon, Wenshi..." His lips curled into a sadistic grin. "Because if I do, I will drag you back even if I have to break your precious wings." Nuru glanced at that dreadful dark patch on the back of his hand and vowed to make her regret nullifying their mate bond. "You will beg for the mercy I no longer have."

As his mind reveled in the chase to come, his breath deepened like he had cooked up a white stone.

'It won't be long, Wenshi. It won't be long till you come back crying to be with me again…'

Now, Wenshi had to face the issues that came along with it.

"Nuru won't stop at just casting us aside," she whispered with a voice like ice. "Once he's certain I'm of no use to him anymore, he'll get rid of us. Permanently."

She knew his nature. "He was possessive to a fault. Nuru never let go of what was his—not unless he destroyed it first."

A sharp, shuddering breath escaped her lips.

Perhaps, the only regret she had… was not ruining him the way he had ruined her.

Wenshi wiped the tear stains on her cheeks with the back of her hand and exhaled slowly, forcing herself to steady. This was not a time for weakness.

"That aside," Wenshi who had calmed down scanned her surroundings and cluelessly scratched her head before saying, "Err... where am I anyway?"

When she fled from the cave, the storm raged around her as she flew aimlessly. After hours of flying nonstop, she stopped when the sky darkened and sought refuge beneath the gnarled roots of a hundred-meter-tall Shihuahuaco tree.

The wind howled, and the rain poured in torrents. She should have been freezing but she barely felt it. The fire essence she had cultivated over two years burned within her, shielding her from the cold.

Wenshi pressed a hand to her stomach. "You must be hungry," she murmured softly. A gentle warmth radiated from her fingertips, flowing into her womb. Beastmen are dependent on the beast essence and energy they accumulate inside their body. A typical beastman won't die even if he doesn't consume anything for a month as long as there is water.

The reason why she felt weak despite cultivating inside an energy source like a fire vein was because her body was pouring everything on the developing child inside her womb. The essence she can only derive from devouring a portion of food or hunting another creature's life force was preferable for an undeveloped fetus.

"My poor baby, please be good and patient tonight," Wenshi sighed, "I'm sorry for storming off without grabbing any food for you. I don't think I can hunt in this weather. Tomorrow, I look for mountain boars and hares, I will cook a feast for us. Let's endure the night until the rain stops, okay?"

After surmising that the child could feel what she was feeling, she forced a smile, trying to offer comfort despite the turmoil raging inside her.

"Don't worry, son..." Wenshi closed her eyes and mumbled softly, "Mama's a good hunter... We don't need... ha... we don't need that stupid jerk in our life!"

No matter what, she would protect her child and raise him with all she has.

She heaved deeply and opened her eyes again, steering clear from her previous despondent demeanor.

Even then, the more she thought about it, the more she felt disgruntled until her anger flared.

"Haaa... shit. This is really hateful!" she scowled, "Now even my child has to suffer because of that insufferable bastard's itch!"

In a surge of fury, Wenshi hissed, her fist shifting into its transformed state as she slammed it into the tree trunk beside her. In her mind, it wasn't just wood—it was their faces, the ones who had wronged her that she wanted to thrash!

Fine. She couldn't tear them apart in person, but she could at least take out her frustration on this sturdy tree.

Better it than nothing to blow off some steam!

Bang!

"Shit! You're so ugly when I don't love you, Nuru, you sickening bastard! And that slut too!"

Bang! Bang!

With another fierce one-two punch connecting with 'their swollen faces,' she screeched wildly. And just like that, the poor tree trunk was hit and had to bear the brunt of a cheated wife's rage.

"Maybe I shouldn't have left so fast without cutting off his dick or smashing that whore's face!"

Bang!

"Argh, I'm so pissed off—!"

Suddenly, a furious roar suddenly erupted from above and cut her off.

"AHH! You crazy female! Stop hitting our tree house! Why are you trying to destroy someone else's home?!"

Before she could react, a barrage of objects came flying toward her—a wooden chair, a junk kettle, and random utensils clattering down through the leaves.

"Deus! Ah, what are you doing?" Another voice bellowed, whittled with panic. "You...!"

Shul, who saw his valuables being thrown away almost leaped a mile to catch them but he was too late. His older brother had brazenly tossed them all to the ground.

"You stupid moron!"
