Even Hell’s Affairs Depend on Gold – I Got Fired, but I’ve Acquired an Alchemy Cheat Skill, So I’m Aiming for a Major Life Turnaround

Volume 1 Chapter 30 - TV

I ended up watching TV with Kaede-chan in a hotel room, drinking beer.

“Senpai, you’re looking around too much,” she said.

Kaede-chan, watching the TV, grinned joyously.

On the TV, Ms. Elenora was seated in a chair, her eyes darting around.

“I was nervous. It’s my first time on TV, after all.”

“You look like a total amateur.”

Well, I am an amateur.

“But Senpai, your makeup is perfect. And your hair is tied back.”

On the TV, Ms. Elenora had some light makeup on, and her lips were slightly red. Her long blonde hair was slightly braided as well.

“The makeup artist did it for me. I couldn’t do it myself.”

“I thought so. But it’s beautiful.”

“Everyone said the same.”

You’re beautiful!

Really? Hehe.

I had this conversation with the makeup artist.

“But you’re still wearing your usual black robe.”

“I thought I’d have to change into a costume, but they told me to go with what I was wearing.”

“It’s almost like your trademark.”

Yeah, I suppose.

The program began, and the announcer explained the purpose of the show.

It wasn’t anything grand; it was just a discussion, or rather, a Q&A with Ms. Elenora, a critic, and a former adventurer.

And it wasn’t too difficult, thanks to the female announcer’s mediation.

“Today’s guest is someone we could call the person of the moment, rumored to be the Golden Witch, Elenora Ocean,” the female announcer introduced.

“Oh, so she’s really called the Golden Witch?”

“It seems so. I thought I’d call her that too.”

I thought being called a witch was a bit harsh, but after the filming, the producer told me that characterization was crucial.

“Nice to meet you,” Ms. Elenora greeted, bowing.

Her movements were a little off.

“She’s so stiff!”

“It’s nerves.”

It’s her first time, after all.

Can’t be helped.

“Yes, thank you. Now, Ms. Elenora, you auctioned off an item bag recently, didn’t you?”

“Heh. Yes, I did.”

Elenora, who had been serious and tense, suddenly crossed her legs and began speaking elegantly.

“What happened all of a sudden?”

Kaede-chan looked at me.

“At that time, all that was in my head was the word ‘mysterious.'”

Mysterious, mysterious!

I must be mysterious!

I thought.

“Is that so…” the female announcer said, a bit taken aback by the sudden change in Elenora, but she was a pro.

She quickly recovered and began asking questions.

The questions weren’t too difficult, mostly the same as what she had been asked before.

Probably they were being considerate.

“Next, let’s hear from an expert. Professor Mimura, what do you think?”

The screen shifted to an old man, an expert in adventurers, but not an adventurer himself and never been to the frontier.

I didn’t quite understand.

“First of all, I can’t imagine auctioning off eight item bags at once. Is it some kind of demonstration or something?”

I hated this old man because he touched Elenora’s butt when she went to greet him in the dressing room.

“I see, Ms. Elenora, what do you think?”

The camera shifted to Elenora, who was completely off guard and drinking tea.

“… What demonstration? I’m just an adventurer, and I have no reason to demonstrate anything. I’m a rookie, so I don’t have any sponsors.”

Elenora quickly put down her tea and answered gracefully.

“What are you doing?”

“My throat was dry from nervousness. You’d understand if you were there.”

The lights were hot, and the tension made my throat parched.

“You’re not a corporate shill?”

The old man asked again.

“Of course not. As I said earlier, I just sold something that happened to drop.”

“You happened to get eight item bags?”

“Yes, I was lucky.”

“That’s impossible! Item bags don’t drop that easily!”

“They actually did drop, you know?”

“It’s cheating!”

“What is?”

This really didn’t make sense at all.

“What kind of cheating do you have to do to get an item bag?”

“Teacher, sorry, but please let us move on. Now, let’s hear from the former adventurer, Mr. Tsuchiya.”

The female announcer cut off the heated old man and passed it to the other commentator.

This was really helpful.

“I can’t believe I got an item bag all at once either. May I ask what skill you have?”

This person was calm.

But he was the type to ask unpleasant questions.

“I cannot say. My skills are my trade secrets. They are not to be taught to others.”

“The guild doesn’t know all the skills either. New skills are being discovered every year. Maybe you have a new skill? We would understand if you tell us the skill.”

Right?

An unpleasant question.

Because it’s accurate.

“I cannot answer that. But I have properly submitted my status card to the guild, and the guild knows my skills. If there is no report of a new skill, it means that. My possessed skills are general skills.”

Swordsmanship is a general skill.

So it’s correct.

After that, the critic Mimura and the former adventurer Tsuchiya continued to ask Elenoa questions, but she kept dodging them.

“It’s getting heated. But it seems to be time. We’d like to have Elenoa appear again and hear her story.”

The female announcer cut off the conversation at the right time.

She was truly a good person.

And beautiful.

“If there’s a chance.”

“Thank you. Um, may I ask one last question?”

The female announcer asked before wrapping up the program.

This was something Elenoa had asked her to do in advance.

“What would you like to know?”

“Elenoa, you put up eight item bags for auction this time. Will this happen again?”

“I suppose… I’m an adventurer, so if I find rare items in the future, it will happen.”

“Wow! Can we look forward to it?”

“Hehe… Yes, indeed. Just the other day, I was lucky and dropped another item bag. So, I put it up for auction again.”

She meant to laugh gracefully, but her face turned a bit wicked…

Mysterious, or rather, truly a witch.

“You, you dropped it again? 100 kilos again?”

“No, this time it’s 1000 kilos.”

“What?”

Even the seasoned female announcer was frozen.

“1000 kilos, yes. Two, just like last time.”

“Yes?”

The female announcer’s smile disappeared.

“Don’t mess with me! The maximum capacity of an item bag is 400 kilos!”

Mimura, the old man, yelled.

“That was true until now. Records are always made to be broken.”

“It’s nonsense!! 1000 kilos is impossible!”

“Then let me give you a good word. Impossible is impossible. It will be announced by the guild after this broadcast, so please check for yourself.”

Don’t bid.

You probably won’t be able to win.

“…Witch! Who the hell are you!”

“Heh. You said it yourself, and it was introduced at the beginning, wasn’t it?”

Ah, she’s making a really wicked face.

Totally a villainess.

“The Golden Witch…”

I could hear former adventurer Tsuchiya’s murmur.

“…Well, that’s it for our program. Thank you to the teacher, Mr. Tsuchiya, and Elenoa! Next week is a special feature on A-rank adventurers. See you next week! Stay tuned!”

With a forced smile, the female announcer forcefully closed the program.

“She’s definitely a witch now, isn’t she?”

As the show ended, Kaede turned off the TV and said.

“Yeah.”

“The first half was boring, but the second half got wild.”

“There’s a lot cut out. The old man was really heated.”

They were called monsters, but that was thankfully cut out.

It’s a good thing it wasn’t live.

“Well, this should be enough advertising. It should sell high.”

“Right. Now then…”

The TV was over, and it was now 11:30.

A good time.

“Shall we drink! A pre-celebration for the successful auction!”

“Yeah!”

Cheers!

Did she find out that I bought that at the convenience store?

We drank and partied and crashed at 4 in the morning.

But in the morning, I was more than satisfied when I woke up to find Kaede cuddling up and sleeping soundly in bed.

It was a good thing Hokkaido was cold!
