Volume 1 Chapter 113
“Hey, isn’t this enough?”
Rin-san, who had been helping me gather Sparkling Grass, said this with a hint of annoyance. So far, Rin-san had collected ten bundles, and I had gathered six. This should be enough for now.
“Thanks for your help. You should try out what I told you tonight.”
“No way, I’m not doing that… Besides, that thing you mentioned is something you want to do with Kaede, isn’t it?”
Well, that could be said.
“It’s all the same. It’s nothing serious, anyway.”
“I guess so…”
This is something I definitely want to try.
“Do you know about Silky Grass?”
“Silky Grass, huh… That one grows at night. I’ve never seen it myself, but I’ve heard of someone who has collected it.”
Nighttime, huh…
“I don’t like the idea of going out at night.”
“You better not. It’s dangerous at night, and the place is crawling with self-defense forces. If you act even slightly suspicious, you’ll get picked up.”
Better not do it then. I don’t want my status card to be seen. Maybe I’ll ask Kaede-chan to put in a request…
“Got it. Thanks.”
I took the Sparkling Grass from Rin-san and stored it in my bag.
“I didn’t expect to be picking grass this early in the morning.”
“It’s all part of the adventure.”
“How is this an adventure…”
Rin-san and I, both exasperated, decided to head back to the gate to wait for the other two who hadn’t arrived yet.
While we were waiting, Nanapon, dressed in her familiar red cardigan and rabbit backpack, arrived. Spotting us as she came out of the gate, she quickly approached.
“Oh, sorry I’m late!”
Checking the time, I saw it was only 8:50 am.
“It’s okay, you’re not late.”
Yoshino-san hadn’t arrived yet anyway.
“No, as the youngest, I thought I should come early…”
“Don’t worry about it. We’ve been here since 8:30.”
Though Rin-san had arrived even earlier.
“Isn’t that early? This is like… corporate slavery…”
Don’t say ‘slavery’.
“It’s only because I came with Kaede-chan that I’m here this early. Rin-san is here because… she’s a good person.”
“Huh…? I see… Oh, I’m sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I’m Nanaka Yokokawa. Nice to meet you today!”
Nanapon bowed her head to Rin-san, who she was meeting for the first time.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Rin Shimizu.”
Rin-san returned the greeting.
“Is Ms. Saegusa not here yet?”
“Not yet. She’s always slow to get ready.”
“I see.”
As Rin-san and Nanapon chatted, I thought I should check Rin-san’s status card before Yoshino-san arrived.
“Rin-san, can I ask you something?”
I called out to Rin-san, diverting Nanapon’s attention. Rin-san turned to me, and in that moment, Nanapon circled behind her.
“What is it?”
“I wanted to ask about armor. Both you and Yoshino-san wear light gear. Do you use an inner suit?”
“That’s right. You too, right? Wearing heavy armor kills speed. It’s better to strike before being attacked.”
I see… but Nanapon, you’re staring too much.
Even if Rin-san is looking this way, don’t stare so obviously at the bag attached to her waist.
“So that’s it, huh?”
“Is something bothering you?”
“I’m wearing an inner suit too, but does my tracksuit look lame?”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s athletic wear, and it looks fine to me.”
As Rin-san nodded, having checked out my outfit, Nanapon behind her crossed her arms to make an ‘X’ sign. This was a signal that Rin-san didn’t have a unique skill.
“Alright, I’ll stick with this then.”
“That’s fine. There are some guys who wear suits, but that’s just silly.”
As Rin-san said this, Nanapon jumped slightly.
“There must be a reason for it.”
I said this and nodded, with Nanapon nodding along.
“Whatever…”
Rin-san sighed.
“Ah, Ms. Saegusa has arrived.”
Following Nanapon’s gaze to the gate, I saw Yoshino-san standing there, looking around. Spotting us, she quickly came over.
“Hey, good morning. You’re all so early.”
“You’re the late one.”
“It’s only 8:59 am.”
Rin-san voiced her mild annoyance, and Yoshino-san nonchalantly checked her watch.
“Whatever…”
Rin-san seemed to give up, shaking her head. It didn’t really matter that we were early. We had just come too soon, that’s all.
