Eren's Ascension

Great evolution.

Catastrophic emergence of unknown power that shook the world by its core.

That was mana.

Every living thing adapted to this power and evolved into something extraordinary, afterall no way in living hell any ordinary thing had a place in this new world.

In early stages of great catastrophe, monsters emerged. Plants came to life and became walking plant monsters called elves, lizard became dragons, sparrows became phoenixs and bats became vampire.

This each races developed and evolved with their high intelligence, enormous monstrous body and destructive powers but humans weren't behind.

Humans found a way to survive, they formed a core. A ingenious idea to utilise mana more efficiently, unlike those monsters who used raw and unfiltered mana.

But human nature is selfish to core, Their greed for resources or their fear of this monster led them to hunt them down. Monsters fought back but their evolution were natural unlike rapid succestion of human evolution. Monster were intelligent and had same life value as humans but their appearance evoke fear into human heart.

But some kind humans wanted to change this, their co-operation with monsters let monsters to achieve human form and they finally formed mana core.

From the very begining monsters couldn't form mana core with their huge body which asked for enormous amount of mana and time.

But they became humans or rather humanoid,

of course becoming human resulted in them losing all their powers.

Only after forming mana core they could transform back to their original appearance, that too only till their mana lasted.

Some chose this change while other monsters remains adamant on their originality, Those who became humanoid advanced along with humanity and those who didn't died, their generation slowly diminished to the level of an ordinary monsters.

" It's seems most plausible." Sitting at the tree, resting comfortably and reading as eren analysed.

It was midnight but to eren concept of day and night was long gone.

A huge fox laid before him, Wiggling her nine tails subconsciously she spoke.

" Another theory is that the great evolution changed humans, giving them slight variation of appearance and ability to transform but that one is the most acceptable in the world.

But all these is just history and philosophy , what you should know is clear difference between these races and their individual powers." Alena opened her bored red eyes and looked at him.

" Let's start.

First dragons, humanoid with horns over their head, that is Their exclusive feature.

Along with nearly unbreakable armour. Something they can manifest anytime, just like my wings." She spoke mildly and wings magically manifested above her back, only to disappear next second.

Eren had activated his mana sense,so clearly got what she meant.

" Dragons have high affinity towards fire and wind, giving them control over sky. Remember to never engage with dragon over fire power." She warned him but her words didn't contain much worry at all.

" Next is phoenix, It's not necessary. Afterall they went extinct after war with dragons."

" Why?"

" Because they both were similar in powers, both flying and fire type race."

" That's it!!, they're stupid." Alena giggled in his humour, in a way it was stupid of them but cultivator fought for even less.

" There is so much stupidity and we can't do anything about that.

But enough with that, next up is elves.

Elves is considered as most beautiful race among all. Their monster form is something else knows as Elderwood but their human appearance is enviable.

Their exclusive feature is 5 cm long pointy ears and their affinities are water and earth. Makes them excellently close to nature, especially plants and trees." She sounded bored, was she really just tired or envious of their beauty.

Eren had some guesses but he was more than aware to not brought topic about beauty with a woman.

" Next is vampires, Their monster form is large black gargoyle, you know what gargoyles are, right?" eren nooded as he did see some weirly drawn pictures of gargoyles, dragons, Elderwood and phoenix.

" Their humanoid form is noticable, their skin pale white, hair pitch black and eyes red.

They don't have particularly high affinity toward any basic element but vampires have affinity towards blood. That's the reason they drink blood in the first place.

Not only they can cast blood magic but also use blood as mana resource, a material to cultivate." Just hearing about vampires brought bitter taste in Eren's mouth.

" But you know what eren, cultivator's individual mana is poison to another cultivator yet vampire are able to drink it as energy drink without getting affected, They are special just like other and does not lose to other races." Eren learned something new which came with doubt.

" But you plan on giving me mana?" He said, feeling bit scared but mostly calm. He had great trust in Alena.

" Because you're unawakened, If two different mana exist in same body, it's be destructive. That's mana poisoning. That's also the reason cultivators can't share mana to other cultivator." She explained, other thing were obvious.

" So it's over right?" He asked, changing topic from vampires.

" Not yet, there's another group other than asuras. Named beastrals.

Unlike asuras who have only four dominant races, beastrals have variety of races, joined together they survived fight between these asuran monsters.

You must have heard of them as well, lion clan, cat clan, rabbit clan and so much more, maybe more than fifty different clans.

What makes them powerful is their unity despite their diversity, Especially since they're regarded as inferior in compare to asuras.

That is all." Alena ended her session tiredly.

" Are they really?"

" I said each races have specific affinity, That's common but large number of uncommon asuras are there too. Like there is fire mage elf and water mage dragon exist.

That way, are they inferior?" She asked but without giving any time she spoke again.

" No one is equal but that does not mean we can be judge of what is superior and what's inferior, what's good and what's evil, what's right and what's wrong." It was valuable advice towards young eren but he needed to experience it himself.

" Are you a beastral? He asked, although he had some doubt from the very beginning.

" What do you think?" She replied jokingly.

" You were human but became fox, That should make you beastral but you seem different. I don't know why but your existence feels extremely threatening." Eren spoke his mind, although he was perplexed with his body subconsciously alerted towards her yet his mind drawn towards Alena.

It was strange.

" You have good instincts." She was genuinely surprised by the fact that a human child had innately developed instinct, as for the season his body reacted such way, only she knew.

She wanted to hid that fact but looking at him changed her reasoning, as if she always looked for answer from him.

" That's because Nine tail fox is neither beastral or asuran entity, it's something else entirely.

A catastrophe." she said unusual and hidden facts. something she wouldn't reveal so easily to anyone.

" A catastrophe??" Eren repeated subconsciously.

" Yes, when world is threatened by abnormal danger, A catastrophic creature will come in existence.

This existence won't see right or wrong, it will annihilate everything it's path along with the danger that threatens this world.

Nine tail fox is said to be the catastrophic creature." God knows what she felt, it wasn't anything important to her but even then she kept this secret close to her heart.

" But why?"

" Think about it, It's this world's defence mechanism. Also why nine tail isn't birthed but manifested with absolute world power."

" You mean mana?"

" Yes and no, Mana is simple form but upon its application it changes to what we want. And the original source of this floating mana is this world itself, we barely have partial control over it.

World power is combination of mana as well as nature, what it births is life itself. But only when world needs it." Eren didn't understand what she meant, it was complicated but he got the gist of it.

Casting those depressing topic aside he relaxed his thoughts and spoke.

" But does that mean there was world level threat in the past?" He asked, obviously curious to why nine tail fox came into existence.

" Of course, A Approximately 1200 years ago. From who knows where but a man appeared. He was strong enough to single handedly rival all of the powerhouses on his own.

As prophesied nine tail came and their fight nearly destroyed everything, but humans, asuras and bestarals. They are all like cocroches, surviving even worst disasters.

The man died and world found peace, atleast that's what i like to say but once manifested nine tail doesn't just disappear.

And remaining humanity and asuran had to start over again from scratch, their life was dropped in hell as they again needed to hunt for survival, but as I said before, cocroches just doesn't go away.

And Nine tail fox stayed here, maybe to recuperate after fight with that monster of a man.

Many tried killing this fox demon but always failed, it's white shadow made this forest symbol of fear and thus giving this forest the name white forest." Alena spoke nonchalantly.

Eren surely wouldn't have believed it if not for the living proof standing right before him.

" Then how did you became nine tail fox?" Asked Eren.

" That story is for another time because now it's time." Her gentle voice hid her hesitation, and her demenour changed.

" I guess now I know most basic thing about this world huh." Eren said, waiting for her responce.

Obvious of what she meant.

In the first place they were delayed for mana infusion procedure. Situation was something like that.

Alena had a breakthought, her powers were increased and she needed time to adjust to it.

Afterall she didn't wanted to accidently burst eren up just because she couldn't control her mana.

A week had passed since then, they talked over basics of cultivation and about this world.

Eren spent his time reading and gaining as much as knowledge he could about cultivation world, afterall once they started mana infusion he'll not only be tortured but will also need to start working on his original mission, Building a house.

And now that another week had passed, they were finally ready for it.

Creepy forest in the night became even creepir with momentarily silence and then Eren stood up, patting the dust away.

Eren looked towards Alena.

" I'm ready." His words filled with vigour.

Alena didn't speak but now one of her red nail touched eren's sternum. Wisp of hesitation she never felt before was there, stopping her but, letting her rational mind take over body she infused a very small droplet of mana inside eren.

And what followed was the horrifying scream.
