Chapter 286.1
Chapter 286.1. Little Sister
“Wow, thank you so much! I never thought you’d let me use your bath!”
Drying her hair with a bath towel, a girl walked into the living room with a smile. She was wearing a bathrobe, but for some reason, the tie was loosely fastened and looked ready to come undone.
“The tie is loose. Let me fix it for you, Yukihana-chan.”
Noticing the loose tie, Yukihana quickly retied it firmly. She tied it so tightly it looked almost painful, ensuring it wouldn’t come undone.
“Can you make it a little looser? Oh, Sakimori-san, could you loosen it for me a bit?”
As I sat on the sofa, leisurely sipping coffee and watching the two, the girl sidled up to me persitently. She bent over, revealing a glimpse of her chest, so I told her to sit on the opposite side.
“Anyway, let’s do some introductions. You know our names, so how about telling us yours?”
“Uh, well… I’ve heard about the Amatsugahara Corporation, so I know your name, Sakimori-san. But I don’t know the girl in the weird revealing kimono or the cosplaying girl with the mask.”
“Alright then, introduce yourself.”
Yawning, I waved my hand casually.
We had returned to my house. As the kindhearted person I am, I brought the girl with me. Also present were Shizuku, wearing her usual mask, and Yukihana, dressed in her modified kimono as always.
The masked girl already looked like she was about to snap. Judging by her aura, she was already halfway there.
“I am Yukihana-chan, the genius. Nice to meet you.”
Yukihana introduced herself casually, not seeming bothered at all. Let’s not dwell on what she wasn’t bothered by.
“Heh. I am Rei, Vice-Captain of the Jester Knights, a girl of miracles!”
Shizuku stood up from the sofa, breaking the purpose of asking for privacy from everyone except fairies.
“W-What?! Could it be that Rei? Why would you do such a thing?!”
“Haha, it’s simple. I fight to break free from the dungeon’s control!”
“This won’t achieve anything!”
The girl enthusiastically joined Shizuku, and the two began a theatrical back-and-forth. Shizuku, initially looking annoyed, got into the act, laughing as they continued. Their chemistry was too good.
What do I even do about this? Am I supposed to stop it?
Looking to Yukihana for help, I saw her staring at the two with dead eyes. Do I have to watch their little act with dead eyes too…?
Shizuku and the girl kept going, pretending to flip a nonexistent cape while adding sound effects like “whoosh” out loud.
“Now, girl, state your name!”
“My name is Tear Drop. The mysterious…”
[High Accelerator]
The girl struck a pose, introducing herself enthusiastically, but suddenly used a special skill to accelerate and leap behind the sofa. In an instant, a white flash sliced through where she had stood, revealing Shizuku holding her True Muramasa in a poised stance.
“Hm. This person carries a perpetual battlefield mindset. And quite high stats too.”
“Not fair! That’s so unfair, onee-chan! Attacking while we’re playing is just mean!”
“Shouting ‘No count, no count!’ would suffice, wouldn’t it? Since you seem inclined to play in enemy territory, I was testing whether I could kill you.”
Shizuku answered nonchalantly, without a shred of guilt, as she sheathed her sword, tossed it against the wall, and plopped back onto the sofa.
“So you understand my strength now? I’m glad. But sorry, onee-chan, the gap in our stats is too vast for you to even scratch me—”
[House Sovereign Punch!]
“Gah!”
A small door in the wall swung open, and a tiny hand jabbed into the girl’s side. A young girl crawled out, climbed onto my lap, and puffed her cheeks proudly with a “hmph!”.
“Escape is possible here! Destroying this building and getting away is totally doable!”
Clutching her side, the girl stumbled back to the sofa, grimacing in pain.
Man, what is this? At first glance, it seems like a comedy skit, but…
“Sachi, how much strength did you use?”
“All my might! Enough to critically injure a B-class monster!”
Yeah, this isn’t comedy at all. Shizuku clicked her tongue and sat quietly, giving Sachi a thumbs-up, signaling their teamwork. They were clearly serious about trying to kill her. And their attack had failed.
Clutching her side, Tear winced painfully, but—
“Just acting, huh? Got it. She’s tough.”
The fact that Shizuku didn’t follow up with another attack made it clear. Even after taking Sachi’s full-force punch as a surprise hit, she was unharmed enough for Shizuku to see no point in pursuing. This girl’s strong.
“Seriously, I can’t believe this. Normally, when a cute girl shows up, even as an enemy, the A-part is about bonding, and the B-part is fighting to recover memories, isn’t it?”
Grumbling angrily, Tear muttered complaints, but Shizuku leaned forward with a serious expression, bringing her face close to Tear’s.
“That’s all mixed up. Fighting to recover memories is the heroine from the pre-remake anime.”
“Wait, really? I thought I was supposed to be onee-chan’s copy, but maybe there’s a discrepancy in the memory aspects.”
Shizuku earnestly corrected Tear, who nodded in agreement, then started fervently discussing, “What was it again? The remake version…”
Well, I guess I’ll make some fresh coffee. At the very least, I need to figure out the ominous details behind words like “copy.” Somehow, I feel incredibly tired already.
