DxD: Wrong Way

Chapter 72: Chapter 70 - Three visits to the family... three visits to the school gate

Himejima Akeno looked at Aoki with amusement, and for a moment, he seemed like a complete newcomer to her.

"Don't touch him; he has no physical form, and ordinary people can't see him," she explained.

"He's a familiar I adopted before. He may not have any combat abilities, but he's excellent at keeping watch."

"Thank you, Akeno-senpai," Aoki chuckled, stopping his playful teasing of the little creature on his shoulder.

What he needed was a reliable tracking tool, and this familiar

One that required no rest and was invisible to ordinary people

Was the perfect choice.

Initially, he had considered asking if there were any skills or accessories available for detection and surveillance.

However, he realized that while accessories were inanimate objects, familiars could actively assist him.

Himejima Akeno raised an eyebrow and smiled playfully.

"Ah, I don't know who it is, but just now you swore you didn't need my help~"

Aoki laughed.

"This isn't help; it's just necessary preparation."

With a roll of her beautiful eyes, Himejima Akeno dismissed his argument.

She regained her serious demeanor and said, "Proceed with caution. If you encounter any problems, please contact us immediately."

"Yes!"

After leaving the Occult Research Department, Aoki glanced at the little black ball on his shoulder before pausing to change direction.

At the gate of Gosha Academy, Aoki took out his mobile phone and showed the little black ball photos of the Takamine sisters and Miyajima Sakura one by one.

"Do you remember them?"

The little black ball bobbed up and down as if nodding its head.

"Good. It's mainly those three I want you to keep an eye on. Also, pay attention to other attractive girls. If that fat guy with glasses I described shows up next to them, let me know right away."

The little black ball began to bounce up and down even faster in response.

Aoki felt a bit dizzy from its enthusiastic movements and placed his hand gently on its round head to calm it down.

"Okay, okay! Go ahead now. I'll make sure to give credit to Akeno-senpai later."

The small black ball circled around him before floating off toward Aisu Academy to begin its search for targets.

"It's moving pretty quickly…"

Aoki observed as he watched it go.

"I didn't expect it to be infused with magical energy; it feels surprisingly good."

The small black ball was a relatively low-level familiar whose invisibility and intangibility only affected ordinary people without magical power.

Thinking about this, Aoki sent a message to the Takamine sisters as a precautionary measure; he wanted to ensure they wouldn't panic if they noticed a "ghost" following them.

After all, given their own magical abilities, they might end up being more startled than the little guy.

Once he had sorted out the little black ball's tasks, Aoki returned to Kuoh Academy. He couldn't forget about the ice cream he promised Koneko

After all, cats and women... could be quite petty when it came to such things.

The white-haired girl might hold onto this promise for quite some time.

As he approached Koneko amidst a group of curious onlookers admiring her unusual appearance, Aoki offered her strawberry-flavored ice cream.

"Even though classes haven't ended yet, I bought this for you first. If something comes up after school, I won't make it back in time for club activities."

"Woo~ Wo… Zi… The knife… is gone… Xuwu…" Koneko mumbled through mouthfuls of ice cream.

Aoki rolled his eyes playfully. "Speak clearly."

Reluctantly pulling the ice cream from her mouth, Koneko asked seriously, "Do you need me to help you hide this from Akeno-senpai?"

"No need; she already knows about it," Aoki replied with a smile as he ruffled her soft silver hair.

"You're really easy to bribe! Just be careful if Buchou or Akeno-senpai find out; you might not get any more treats in the future."

"No way~!"

Koneko exclaimed as she licked the cream off her ice cream cone with determination.

"I won't eat what others give me. Except for everyone in the club!"

"So you really do have principles…"

Aoki sighed inwardly as he contemplated whether to indulge in emotional eating or maintain composure.

The afternoon session passed uneventfully aside from receiving a reply from Sisters Takamine regarding their earlier conversation.

However, due to Koneko's antics that morning, both teachers and classmates stared at him throughout class.

Gradually getting used to being under scrutiny was an adjustment for Aoki

It was entirely different from his intention of keeping a low profile.

Yet there was nothing he could do but adapt

He couldn't avoid interacting with other girls at school simply for the sake of discretion

That would mean sacrificing what truly mattered.

At the gate of Gosha Academy once again.

A place he'd visited three times in just a few hours

Aoki leaned against the wall while waiting for Miyajima Sakura to emerge from school.

Instead of Sakura appearing first, however, it was the Takamine sisters who stepped out.

"Sayuri! Ayame-nee!"

"Ao-chan!"

Takamine Ayame exclaimed as she jumped into Aoki's arms

Her ample chest drew envious glances from male students nearby after school ended.

Among them were several fair-skinned boys whose faces turned redder than ripe tomatoes at witnessing such an affectionate display.

Sayuri Takamine watched her sister enviously while biting her lower lip.

But with so many people coming and going, Takamine Sayuri felt too embarrassed to take the initiative to hug Aoki and act like a baby.

This was also why Aoki had contacted Takamine Ayaya at noon but hadn't reached out to her.

"Don't you two have club activities today?"

Aoki asked, still holding Takamine Ayame in his arms.

"Why did you leave right after school ended?"

"It's boring," Ayame pouted, leaning closer to Aoki's ear to whisper, "Sayuri and I are thinking of quitting the club. If we have that time, we might as well go back and practice for a while! Magic is much more interesting than swimming, hee hee~~."

Aoki glanced at Takamine Sayuri, who shyly nodded her head in agreement.

She enjoyed gymnastics but wanted to learn more about magic

Otherwise, she always felt that one day Aoki would leave her behind.

After chatting for a while, a bright lavender color caught Aoki's attention.

He playfully patted Takamine Ayame's perky backside, eliciting an adorable squeal from her.

"Ao-chan~ There are so many people here~"

"Okay, you two should head back first. I have something to do tonight and might be back very late."

Aoki released his hold on Ayame and turned to Sayuri.

"Sayuri, there's no need for me to prepare dinner for myself."

"Ao-chan~ No! It's rare for you to pick us up from school; let's go home together~"

Takamine Ayame insisted, holding onto his hand tightly.

"We haven't gone home together since we started high school!"

Sayuri didn't speak but her hopeful eyes conveyed everything.

"I'm sorry, but I've made plans with someone else today."

Aoki positioned himself between the Takamine sisters.

"I promise I'll come early tomorrow so we can go home together."

"Wow~"

Takamine Ayame tried to charm him into changing his mind with a playful pout. But before she could say anything further, Aoki's tone suddenly turned serious:

"Don't forget your identities; I won't negotiate with you."

"Wow…"

Ayame was momentarily taken aback, feeling a bit wronged but ultimately letting go of his hand obediently.

Sayuri felt awkward too but couldn't help but feel an indescribable thrill coursing through her body at the same time.

As she discreetly pressed her legs together, Aoki confirmed his suspicion: Takamine Sayuri really did possess some alluring qualities…

It seemed that the more serious someone appeared on the surface, the more complex their inner world could be.

After bidding farewell to the Takamine sisters, Aoki quickly made his way toward Miyajima Sakura.

Amidst the envious gazes of several single students nearby, the new girl from the Kendo Club greeted him with a cool smile.

"You're here."

"Yes, good afternoon, Miyajima-senpai."

"Who were those two?"

Miyajima Sakura asked casually as she glanced back at the Takamine sisters who were turning around for one last look.

"Oh, they're my sisters, though not by blood," Aoki explained briefly about his family situation.

Before Miyajima Sakura could express any motherly concern or affection, he added quickly,

"Miyajima-senpai, I'm doing well now. Not only do I have people taking care of my daily life, but I'm also well looked after physically."

Sakura paused for a moment before processing what he said until Aoki flashed a knowing smile.

"Spit…"

Only then did it dawn on her that this seemingly innocent young man was actually quite bold beneath the surface.

How could he resist temptation when surrounded by such beautiful sisters with captivating looks and enticing figures?

Watching Aoki and Miyajima Sakura engage in lighthearted conversation as they walked away together left many boys feeling heartbroken and sleepless that night.

And there were girls too

Watching Aoki's retreating figure with secret sadness as they pondered how they would spend their lonely evening…
