DXD : Sekiryuutei’s Lost Destiny

Chapter 5: Chapter 5 Unraveling the Truth

Koneko accepted the sweets, and bowed. "Thank you Senpai, I have to go.

"

"Didn't you want to ask me something?"

". .

. Sweets, I was embarrassed.

"

"Well, anytime Koneko-chan. See you around~" Kazuto waved, so she walked off.

But then she stopped, and faced him. "Senpai, do you like your current life?"

Kazuto raises an intrigued brow. "I don't hate it, why're you asking?"

"I was wondering. .

. if your life changed, would you be more happy?"

"Depends on the change, I guess. " Kazuto said truthfully.

Koneko nods slowly. ".

. .

Senpai, I. .

. "

Kazuto raised a brow, seeing something was going on with Koneko. "Everything alright Koneko-chan? Has something happened?"

Koneko curls her lips barely noticeably up, and then shakes her head. "No, I'm okay.

I'm glad, you're living a good life, Senpai. "

"Thanks. .

. ?" Kazuto was curious on why she would say it like that.

But then saw Koneko take off, so he shrugged, and walked to his classroom, thinking about what Koneko said.

Later on that day, Koneko reported her findings to Rias, while Akeno and Yumi hung out on the background, sharing a look when Koneko said something surprising.

". .

. I think we should leave Senpai alone.

"

Rias folds her arms curiously. "Koneko? Is something the matter? Did he say something to you?"

"No, but Senpai likes his current life, we shouldn't interfere with his life now. "

Rias looks towards Koneko, seeing her head down.

Koneko went quiet, so Rias lightly pets her head. "Don't worry about it, we'll just do more digging and see what's truly going on with this boy, and if possible, we'll leave him alone, I don't want to involve anyone that's an innocent.

"

"Yes. .

. Senpai's nice, lets leave him be.

"

Rias furrows her brows in thought. "Anyway, Akeno, has your findings brought anything to light?"

Akeno giggled awkwardly. "He has a grandmother.

"

Rias twitched an eyebrow. "That's it?"

Akeno shrugged. "Pretty much, I couldn't tell you anything else.

Well, apart from stuff that we'd naturally already know. Like he has a job, he's on the swim team, the friends he hangs out with, he's the Prince of the school.

School records, says his grandmother is his guardian, so maybe grandma knows more than he does?"

Rias hums. "Perhaps she does.

Koneko, tell me, during your interactions, did you get a good read on him? Like maybe he's hiding because someone's after him or anything?"

"…He's kind, generous with sweets, and he likes cats. "

Rias nods along curiously. "Ooh, how'd you know?"

"Because I've seen him treat cats nicely, and he offers me sweets. " Koneko retorts.

Rias nods slowly. "I see…well, at least we've established he's got a grandmother, and a sweet and cat lover…this isn't going well…"

Yumi hums. "I think it wouldn't be so bad if we just ask a few things, right Buchou? If the Fallen Angels are going for him.

. .

"

Akeno nods along. "Ara, I think something's happening here to Kazuto-kun, as its been over a year, and now we're only questioning who he is? Someone hid him very well in a Devils town for none of us to be remotely suspicious of him.

"

Rias thought what they said did make sense, while Koneko remained unusually quiet. "Yes, you're right.

Okay, we'll make contact with Kazuto-kun, and see what's truly going on. Yumi, could you invite him to the Occult Research Club, its best if we do it here.

"

"Sure, I don't mind. " Yumi said with a soft smile.

"Great, then lets prepare to meet Kazuto-kun, and see what's really going on with him. "

They all nod their heads.

Yumi took in a deep breath, and thought about Kazuto, wondering what was going on with him.

Though like Rias, and the others, Yumi didn't believe Kazuto would hide who he is, but she is worried that Fallen Angels had taken an interest in him.

Later that day, Kazuto was in work once more, and casually was serving customers. Yumi came in just after half four in the afternoon, and strode towards Kazuto.

"Hey, Kazuto-kun. Sorry I'm a little late.

"

"No worries, you can pay me later~" Kazuto jokingly snickered.

Yumi gives an enthused smile, and goes behind the counter.

As she did, she saw Kazuto manning the counter and doing another customers orders.

She wondered how she would approach this, knowing that her King was a little unsure of Kazuto. She knew Rias didn't think he was a threat, but even Yumi had to admit that things weren't adding up when it came to Kazuto.

So she approached Kazuto when he finished with a customer. "Say Kazuto-kun.

Can I ask you a question?"

Kazuto raised a brow. "Sure, what is it Yumi-chan?"

"Erm…do you, remember that girl?"

"The one who threw her drink?" Kazuto curiously asks.

Yumi nods her head. "Yes, her.

What did you think about her?"

"She was clearly quite stressed, and was easily offended when someone rejected her, even when giving valid reasons for doing so. "

Yumi shows a sweet smile. "Yes, I thought the same.

But I meant…about her, did you get the impression she was, something else?"

"Something else?" Kazuto wondered.

"Yeah, you know…if she was, I don't know, something…" Yumi saw his quizzing eyes, so she dropped it for now. "…something more than she appeared to be?"

"Like a stalker? Hope not, don't need a Yuno Gasai in my life. "

Yumi snorted. "Yes, we all don't need anything like that.

So, are we still on for Sunday?"

"Sure, sounds great. "

Yumi gives an appreciative smile. "Also Kazuto-kun, have you ever had an interest in the occult? Like you know, things like magicians, and different beings around the world.

"

"Beings. .

. ?"

"Yeah, like Angels, Devils…things like that?" Yumi adds sheepishly.

Kazuto composed his thoughts. "Well, I've always thought that there's more than meets the eye.

In fact, I sometimes think there's something a bit weird with me. "

Yumi narrows her brows. "In what way?"
