Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Escape 3
Pushed and shoved, Yamiru was forced through the small door on the other side of the room, into an even deeper part of the building.
The door clicked shut behind him, and the two Red Ribbon soldiers remained outside.
Yamiru, still wrapped in a blanket, walked barefoot to the center of this larger room. He didn't speak a word, his eyes cold as he surveyed the space. The room was two or three times larger than the previous one and more barren. There wasn't even a chair. The decor was minimal to the point of being absurd—plain white tones, with almost no visible lines. The room felt like a singular whole, and standing inside, he experienced a slight dizziness, as if he couldn't tell which way was up or down.
"..."
When he activated his Golden Veil ability, he was able to make out the lines between the walls, gaining some sense of space and grounding himself.
"Impressive adaptability..." A voice echoed in the room, though Yamiru couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The voice had strong spatial resonance, reverberating throughout the entire room. It was a middle-aged man's voice, most likely Dr. Gero. "To adapt so quickly… In that case—"
As the words fell, the seamless white ceiling suddenly "cracked," revealing a square black frame. Accompanied by mechanical sounds, the frame slowly descended. Yamiru, with a detached gaze, watched as Blue, wearing a tank top, pants, and fingerless gloves, coldly jumped down. The lift ascended back into place, and the ceiling returned to its flawless state.
Yamiru didn't speak. He grabbed the blanket wrapped around him, ripping off a strip with force, fashioning it into a makeshift belt around his waist. The blanket now resembled Broly's combat skirt.
"If you want to do something, just say it," he said, his bare chest exposed. His physique wasn't overly muscular, but he had well-defined muscles. He spoke indifferently, "You're not planning to kill me right now, are you?"
Blue clenched his fist, smiling. "Of course not. You're too valuable as an experiment... A person immune to super abilities is a rare find."
Yamiru suddenly realized why the Red Ribbon army had taken such an interest in him.
Before he could think too much about it, Blue suddenly glared, and his pupils emitted a cross-like burst of light, flashing for a brief moment.
It was Blue's super ability!
A paralyzing stiffness overwhelmed Yamiru's body.
His limbs felt as if they were weighed down with bent steel rods... Even his neck was constricted, unable to move, as though his entire body had been encased in cement.
Yamiru thought: "If I don't do anything, can you still force me...?"
Just as he thought that, Blue pulled out a dagger from seemingly nowhere. With a flick, the blade extended, and with a smile, he slowly approached Yamiru.
"Alright, so if I don't resist, I'll be getting stabbed in the end..." Yamiru thought grimly.
He had no choice. He couldn't just stand there and let himself be stabbed. Who knew if this would be a test or a fatal blow! He could only activate his Golden Veil ability to resist Blue's power, which had been restraining his movements.
"What's wrong? Move!" Blue pressed forward step by step, his voice mocking. "Heh, heh..." The tip of the dagger inched closer, almost touching Yamiru's skin. Yamiru trembled violently, but it seemed like he couldn't break free from the restraint or escape. His golden eyes coldly met Blue's disdainful gaze.
The last time he escaped Blue's superpower, it was in a near-death situation where he instinctively fought for his freedom. Back then, Yamiru had a strong desire to break free, knowing that if he didn't, he'd be turned into a carrot by the rabbit army, and death would be inevitable. Of course, he had to resist the superpower placed on him. But now, Yamiru subconsciously felt that even if he freed himself from the current restraint, he'd still be trapped in Dr. Gero's experimental base. So, whether he broke free or not seemed pointless...
The Golden Veil ability, at its core, was an expression of Yamiru's will.
Without that strong and focused desire to escape, the strength to break free from the superpower simply couldn't manifest.
"Hm?" A voice suddenly came from a hidden speaker somewhere in the room. It was Dr. Gero.
Blue became impatient. "What was this kid doing? Why wasn't he moving?" Didn't this mean the person he recommended to Dr. Gero was a useless failure? He pushed the dagger forward, and its tip pierced Yamiru's unmoving arm. Blood silently trickled out.
"Have you thought this through? The next knife won't just be a simple stab to the arm…" Blue's voice turned cold as he wiped the blade on Yamiru's blanket, now holding the dagger at Yamiru's throat. He traced the blade back and forth while speaking with a murderous tone. "If I just cut this artery lightly, you'll be dead. As for my failed experiment, Dr. Gero might just scold me, but you? Your life will be over... Once you're dead, everything is gone."
With a deep breath, Blue seemed to give up on Yamiru and slashed the dagger at his throat.
Yamiru moved!
A burst of light erupted from his golden eyes, finally breaking free from Blue's restraining superpower. But the next moment, Blue turned sharply and glared at Yamiru, his eyes flashing with cross-shaped beams of light. Yamiru froze again, his body stiff as he barely managed to shift one foot before his body leaned dangerously forward, almost falling to the ground. Blue took long strides, aiming for Yamiru's head, and the dagger plunged down! Just as Yamiru's stiff body was about to hit the ground, his movements returned to normal. He used both hands to brace himself and rolled, narrowly avoiding another strike from Blue.
"Hm... It seems it's true..." Dr. Gero sipped his coffee, watching the scene unfold on the monitor. Blue, dagger in hand, grew more and more decisive and aggressive. Yamiru's movements alternated between sudden stiffness and rapid evasions, starting from desperate dodges to gradually more controlled maneuvers. "This kid, Yamiru, seems to be using this experiment to get used to and adapt to his resistance against superpowers..." Dr. Gero pondered, taking another sip of his coffee.
Then he glanced at another screen beside him. It showed the same scene, but with an eerie color tone, as if special rays were scanning the room, focusing on the body changes of Yamiru as he activated his superpower.
"Strange..." Dr. Gero furiously typed on the control panel. On the special screen, complex charts and data sequences appeared. "No abnormal fluctuations detected during the process... It seems unlikely to achieve results quickly, at least not in the project No. 8..."
He tapped the desk and decided to place Yamiru into a long-term project, slowly breaking him down until he was no longer of use, or until he was "broken" beyond repair...
Huff... huff...
In the room, Blue was breathing heavily, but Yamiru showed no sign of slowing down. He skillfully escaped the restraints and dodged yet another strike from Blue's dagger. Yamiru's golden eyes flashed with a cold, sharp gaze, causing Blue to falter and feel a sudden sense of danger. Blue could feel the sudden surge of killing intent in Yamiru's eyes. As expected, Yamiru seized the opportunity when Blue relaxed his guard. He exploded into action, leaping forward and delivering a powerful kick to Blue's lower body.
Blue, struck as if by a thunderbolt, cried out in excruciating pain. His eyes bulged as he collapsed weakly to his knees.
Yamiru kicked the dagger from Blue's hand, sending it spinning through the air. Yamiru caught it effortlessly, flipped it in his hand, and aimed to drive the blade through Blue's skull.
"Stop!" Dr. Gero's voice came through the speaker.
Yamiru halted just in time, the dagger slicing only a few strands of Blue's hair.
"Don't move!" A bullet chambering sound came from behind him. "Drop the knife!"
Yamiru remained silent, casually tossing the dagger aside, raising both hands as the red ribbon soldiers rushed to restrain him. As he was escorted back to the lab, Yamiru didn't even glance at Blue, who was still kneeling on the ground, clutching his groin. It seemed that hatred and murderous intent came and went with a mere thought, completely under Yamiru's control. If killing wasn't appropriate, he would set this matter aside for now. While being escorted, Yamiru continually used his Golden Veil ability to silently observe the layout and structure of the base… His own escape was far more important than Blue's life.
In the following days, Yamiru was subjected to a variety of invasive experiments and real combat tests with Blue. However, from the occasional snippets of conversation from temporary lab workers, it seemed that Dr. Gero had not discovered anything unusual in Yamiru's body. They couldn't detect that Yamiru came from another world… Yamiru quietly sighed in relief.
In the midst of endless torment, Yamiru lost track of how many days he had been confined in this cursed base. His body had been cut open numerous times, stitched back together, injected with strange substances, and irradiated with various visible and invisible rays. The most extreme incident was when Yamiru was strapped to a table, naked, covered in countless tubes from head to toe…
Despite all the suffering and torture, Yamiru didn't feel any physical changes in his body. It seemed that he wasn't like a typical superhero from a comic book, and the experiments didn't give him strange enhancements or buffs. Instead, they only fueled his anger and hatred toward Dr. Gero and the Red Ribbon Army. If this anger and hatred had tempered his will, making him stronger in a way, then fine, Yamiru would thank these experiments for forcing him to endure and refine himself, between hatred and tranquility, under the scrutiny of his Golden Veil ability, allowing the brilliance of his spirit to rise.
On what felt like another indefinite day, Yamiru was strapped to an experiment table, his limbs fixed in place. A precisely calculated sedative was injected, causing his body to go limp as he lay in the dim, empty lab.
"It's time," he thought.
His eyes opened, and in an instant, they gleamed with golden light.
Yamiru's expression was calm, almost indifferent. If the version of him who had just entered the Dragon Ball world was facing himself now, a single glance from him would be enough to paralyze the other, making them too afraid to move.
