Douluo Starting with the Chaos Divine Examination

Chapter 219: Chapter 219: A Setback Turned to an Unexpected Blessing

"Boy, let her go. Hand over all your belongings, then jump into the sea. If you do, I'll consider sparing your life," the young man sneered at Mu Chen.

Mu Chen's voice was eerily calm, almost chilling. "You poisoned her?"

"No, it's not poison. It's medicine," the youth replied, smirking deviously.

"The injuries on her body—those are your handiwork as well?" Mu Chen pressed further.

"And what if they are?" The young man chuckled maliciously. "This woman is quite something. Her charm techniques are like nothing I've ever encountered. If it weren't for my special medicine, I'd have fallen for her tricks. Father, she'd make a fine daughter-in-law, wouldn't she?"

The older man next to him, the ship's captain, Haidel, gave a cold nod. "Indeed. Her looks rival even that of Purple Pearl. Her talent is unmatched. She'd be worthy of you."

---

Mu Chen's eyes darkened. "You're Haidel?"

"That's right," Haidel replied, misunderstanding Mu Chen's inquiry as fear. "So, you've heard of me. Then you must know resisting is useless. Jump into the sea willingly, and maybe you'll live. If you dare defy me, I'll make you wish for death."

Mu Chen handed Hu Liena to Xiao Wu for safekeeping and stepped forward. "You dared to hurt her?" he asked again, his tone deadly.

Then, without warning, Mu Chen raised his palm, a powerful force emanating from his hand.

玄阶低级斗技·吸掌 (Mysterious Low-Tier Martial Skill: Absorption Palm)

---

Haidel didn't even have time to react before his body froze. Blood erupted from his veins, drawn out by the overwhelming suction. Within moments, his flesh shriveled and collapsed in on itself, leaving behind a desiccated corpse.

"Father!" the young man screamed in horror.

The remaining pirates stood frozen, their faces pale.

In mere moments, their leader, a powerful Soul King, had been reduced to a mummified husk.

---

One pirate broke the silence, turning to flee.

That was all it took. The rest followed suit, bolting for the deck. Even Haidel's son, who had moments ago been boasting, was among the fleeing crowd.

But Mu Chen was faster. With a flicker of his shadow, he reappeared on the deck, his figure blocking their escape.

"Wh-what do you want from us?"

"Spare us! Please!"

"You need me alive!" one of the pirates stammered. "I know these waters better than anyone. Without me, you'll never find your way to Sea God Island!"

Mu Chen's gaze locked onto Haidel's son. "You drugged and injured her. I sentence you to death."

---

With a wave of his hand, Mu Chen used Absorption Palm once more, drawing every last drop of blood from Haidel's son until he too became a lifeless husk.

The remaining pirates collapsed to their knees, begging for their lives.

"I'll fight you!" One pirate, unable to bear the tension, lunged at Mu Chen, his four soul rings lighting up as he charged.

But Mu Chen didn't even flinch.

With a sharp motion, he raised his palm again, unleashing another technique:

玄阶低级斗技·吹火掌 (Mysterious Low-Tier Martial Skill: Blazing Wind Palm)

---

The air around his palm compressed into a violent gust of wind, slicing through the pirate like a thousand invisible blades. In an instant, the man's body exploded into a crimson mist.

The deck fell silent, save for the sound of the sea.

---

"Brother!" Xiao Wu's voice broke the stillness. "Hurry! I can't hold her much longer!"

Mu Chen turned sharply to see Hu Liena clinging to Xiao Wu like an octopus. Her face was flushed, and her breathing ragged.

"Brother, she's getting worse!" Xiao Wu shouted.

Mu Chen's expression darkened as he approached.

---

He gently pried Hu Liena off Xiao Wu, holding her steady as she squirmed against him.

"Hu Liena," he said firmly, "stay still. The effects of the drug will pass soon."

But Hu Liena's glazed eyes met his, her voice trembling. "Mu Chen… it's so hot… I can't… I can't take it…"

Mu Chen sighed, focusing his soul power to stabilize her condition.

---

Xiao Wu stood by, her face conflicted. "Brother… what are we going to do? If this drug doesn't wear off soon…"

"We'll figure it out," Mu Chen replied, his voice calm yet determined. "For now, get some rest. I'll take care of her."

As Xiao Wu reluctantly stepped away, Mu Chen carried Hu Liena below deck, his mind racing for a solution.
