Chapter 151: The Result
Revenna took deep breaths as she glanced at the figure of Max frozen in ice before her. She had never expected that she would have to use all her cards against someone at the level 7 of Apprentice Rank.
Moreover, she was even forced to use one of her last resorts, a technique she had never anticipated using in the temple. Her master, the Witch of the North, had taught her that technique only for critical situations, but now she was compelled to use it against a level 7 Apprentice Rank genius.
'Master, forgive me,' Revenna thought as she stood up and walked towards Max, intending to finish him.
But she hadn't walked far when her steps faltered, and her eyes widened in disbelief.
The ice statue of Max—a result of her Absolute Zero—was melting. Slowly at first, then rapidly, water cascading down in rivulets.
Within moments, the ice was gone, and Max stood there, alive and unscathed, his body glistening as though he had just emerged from a torrential downpour.
Revenna's heart skipped a beat, and a wave of shock coursed through her. She had never witnessed anything like this before.
'Impossible!' She thought, her mind racing. Those frozen by Absolute Zero didn't simply recover. They died—swiftly, irrevocably—encased in a frost that extinguished all life. Even the rare few who managed to resist didn't escape their fate; their hearts would eventually succumb, freezing over until death claimed them.
But the man before her defied everything she knew, everything the technique was supposed to represent.
"How…?" Revenna whispered, her voice trembling slightly despite her effort to remain composed.
Max's lips curled into a wry smile, his eyes gleaming. "What's the matter? You look like you've seen a ghost."
"How did you do that?" Revenna asked, her voice trembling.
"How did I do that?" Max sighed upon hearing her. After sensing that his flames, under the effect of his 10% Fusion Rate, were ineffective against her ice, he understood that Fusion Rate as a whole would be useless against whatever witchcraft she had used on him.
Therefore, in the last possible moment, Max used his black flames to protect his heart, knowing that if his heart was alright, then he would be fine too.
It was a gamble on his part, using the black flames, but he had a feeling they would dominate her ice—and that was exactly what happened.
Even though he was completely frozen under her technique, his heart never stopped beating due to the black flames, which eventually melted the ice all around his body, freeing him from her grip.
"It was a gamble on my part," Max said, looking at Revenna. "A successful gamble, as you can tell now."
Revenna looked deeply at Max, her expression changing several times before she sighed. "I had wanted to get the inheritance of the temple lord myself, but with you here, it seems nobody should even think about it."
Her tone held a bit of admiration. "You are really strong, and I believe what you've shown isn't even 50% of your power. You're hiding it too deeply, and that is how it should be for someone who defeated me."
With those words, she turned to the screen showing the blob of slime and said, "I accept my defeat." As soon as she spoke those words, she found herself back on her pillar.
"The winner of the first battle is Max Morgan. He will head to the second round," the blob of slime announced loudly.
A strange silence followed as Max was declared the winner of the battle. No matter which of the remaining ten geniuses, a solemn expression appeared on their faces, with a hint of caution.
Nobody had expected at the beginning of the battle that Max would defeat Revenna. It sounded so absurd—a level 7 Apprentice Rank genius defeating a level 10 Adept Rank expert. It just didn't make sense, no matter how one looked at the situation.
However, it had already happened. The ten geniuses had already witnessed the battle, seen Max's strength, and watched him win. This led them to regard Max as someone who possessed the power to defeat them.
"This… This is unbelievable!" Jack, the Mad Sword, said, his face contorted into a crazed smile. "Defeating the top genius of the North without even using your full power is crazy."
Crown Prince Aelric nodded. "We don't know how much strength he really showed, but what we do know is that he made his opponent accept her defeat. In a battle, that is the most satisfying moment—making your opponent admit their defeat on their own accord."
Some of them nodded in recognition of Max's strength, while others, such as Arthur Gale, only snorted. He didn't want to believe that someone from the East, whom he considered trash, could be at his level—even if it were true.
Outside the Temple of Divine, East Region.
The faces of the five guild masters were full of shock as they witnessed the battle to the last minute until Revenna accepted her defeat.

The realization that Max, at level 7 of Apprentice Rank, had defeated Revenna, at level 10 of Adept Rank—the strongest genius of the North—set off a storm in their minds. This was an impossible feat, no doubt, and yet they had witnessed it happen.
"Aurelia, you have found a gem of a genius for your guild," James said, glancing at her, his voice thick with jealousy. He had wanted to recruit Max for his own guild, but it was a bit too late.
Kate also nodded, her voice holding admiration for Max. "I believe he is a genius that's hard to come by—one at the highest level of the Lower Domain."
Glancing at Aurelia, she continued, "He might be our most valuable asset in the Lost Continent if things proceed well."
Aurelia looked at Kate, understanding what she meant, but her mind was elsewhere. Her gaze was so focused on Max that she didn't hear anything else, her thoughts unknown.
Meanwhile, the master of the Emerald Legion guild gritted his teeth, seeing Max's otherworldly performance. He felt jealousy—heart-burning jealousy.
Emerald Legion had always been a step ahead of Phoenix Order guild, but since Aurelia had become the master of the guild, things hadn't been going well for them. And now, an anomaly of a genius appeared before them in the Phoenix Order guild, capable of defeating top geniuses from other regions.
'Damn this kid,' Parker, the leader of the Emerald Legion, fumed in anger as his mind raced with conspiracies to get rid of Max.
On the other hand, the man in the mask, the leader of the Black Lotus guild, only smiled as he watched Max's performance, as if he had already anticipated that Max would win the battle.
Outside the portal leading to the Temple of Divine from the North Region, a woman with black hair and black clothing stood. A green-colored aura emitted from her, spreading all around her.
Her black lips parted as she witnessed the end of her disciple's battle. "Someone so low in rank and level managed to survive against Absolute Zero… Interesting." Her eyes gleamed with a green glow as she continued. "Even domain and Ten Thousand Burials of Ice were ineffective against him… A genius of such a level appearing in the Valora continent, and I was unaware of…" Her voice trailed off as she glanced at Max's figure on the screen.
