Chapter 41: 41: Supernovas
As Jewelry Bonney fled, she was utterly annoyed, feeling that her compatibility with Straw Hat Luffy was absolutely abysmal.
This guy not only fought her for meat but was also a complete idiot who couldn't understand human language!
"Well, it couldn't be helped. That guy was just so infuriating… Speaking of which, what's the deal with these Celestial Dragons? Why is everyone so terrified of them?"
Zoro slashed bullets mid-run, carving a path for the group. The island's Marines were chasing them as if they had stirred up a hornet's nest.
"Hahaha! Gum-Gum Gatling Gun!"
Luffy ran ahead, clearing the way for his crew, laughing happily despite the Marines hot on their trail. It was as though he didn't consider the danger a crisis at all.
The Marine soldiers from the Sabaody Archipelago branch couldn't even qualify as cannon fodder in front of Luffy. Dozens charged at him, only to be wiped out in seconds.
"Yeah, Bonney-san, who exactly are these Celestial Dragons? Even for nobles, isn't this level of fear too much?"
Sanji gallantly shielded the two ladies in the group, kicking away any Marines who dared to block their path.
Chopper, Usopp, and Koby followed closely behind Brook and Franky, afraid they'd get separated from the group.
"Are you guys pirates from some deserted island? How could you not know about the Celestial Dragons?!"
Bonney was shocked by the ignorance of the Straw Hat Pirates. In this day and age, how could there still be people clueless about the Celestial Dragons?
The thought of being implicated by these fools nearly made her cry.
Sure, even if she got caught by the Navy, she had her ways to escape—but this situation just felt so unfair.
"The Celestial Dragons are the descendants of the twenty kings who established the World Government 800 years ago. They are a privileged class ruling over the government, known as the World Nobles…"
Robin explained with a wry smile. She knew exactly what the Celestial Dragons were, but at the time of the incident, she and Chopper had been in a bookstore buying books and hadn't made it in time to stop Luffy from punching one.
"Magnetism String!"
Suddenly, all the nearby metal seemed to be drawn by some unseen force, flying toward the street corner ahead.
Luckily, Zoro and Brook held tightly to their blades, preventing the mysterious pull from snatching their weapons. Franky, however, was almost dragged away entirely.
Boom!
The barricade, piled high with heavy objects by the Marines, was shattered by a massive mechanical arm. Standing at the street corner, face full of fury, was Eustass Kid.
"It's you, isn't it? The idiots who attacked the Celestial Dragons and brought a Marine Admiral here!"
Kid looked absolutely livid. Since arriving at Sabaody Archipelago, he had been holding back his temper under Killer's advice, aiming to finish the coating process as quickly as possible and head to the New World.
But just as the coating was nearly complete, a bunch of reckless fools appeared out of nowhere, daring to attack the Celestial Dragons.
He had endured for so long, only for everything to fall apart at the last critical moment!
"What?! A Marine Admiral?"
The Straw Hat Pirates' expressions changed dramatically upon hearing this. Not long before reaching Water 7, they had encountered Aokiji, one of the Marine Admirals.
That wasn't even a battle—it was more like a one-sided beatdown.
That overwhelming power, completely beyond anything the Straw Hats could handle, left them unable to imagine any way of fighting back against such an opponent, even now.
"A Marine Admiral has already arrived? How could they get here so fast? Which one is it?"
Bonney glared angrily at the Straw Hat Pirates and silently prayed that it wasn't the scariest one.
She could deal with Akainu, though it wasn't ideal. Of course, the best-case scenario would be Aokiji.
Aokiji's lazy and laid-back personality meant that, under normal circumstances, he'd stop after dealing with the ones who attacked the Celestial Dragons and any nearby pirates. If it was him, things might not be so bad.
Akainu, on the other hand, was the most ruthless toward pirates. The only option when facing him was to surrender immediately and pray that he was in a good enough mood to simply send them to Impel Down.
At least with Akainu, if you were fast and lucky, there was still a slim chance of escape.
But the most terrifying possibility was Kizaru. Despite his reputation in Marineford for slacking off, no pirate had ever escaped from him.
Even the infamous Kaido of the Beasts had only managed to escape after the local Marine branch took over custody.
If not for Kizaru's overwhelming strength, unmatched efficiency, and unresolved suspicions about his alleged involvement in killing a Celestial Dragon, it would have been impossible for someone with his personality to remain a Marine Admiral for so long.
"Who the hell knows?!"
Kid shouted angrily, his frustration evident. No matter how highly he regarded himself, he wasn't delusional enough to think he could take on a Marine Admiral with his current strength.
What irritated him most was that he had restrained himself for so long, only to be sabotaged just as he was about to leave the Sabaody Archipelago.
"No matter which Admiral it is, we're in trouble. Our only option now is to form a temporary alliance. If we can rally a few more Supernovas to join forces, we might have a chance to retreat in one piece," said the masked Killer, stepping forward with a plan. However, the argument he had used to convince Kid was entirely different.
To escape from a Marine Admiral, they'd need some scapegoats to act as distractions—preferably the ones responsible for attacking the Celestial Dragons.
When Killer discovered the culprits were the Straw Hat Pirates and Jewelry Bonney, he felt a surge of hope. With three relatively strong Supernovas gathered, even if they couldn't defeat the Admiral, they could at least buy some time.
However, what Killer hadn't anticipated was Kid's reckless spirit—a penchant for challenging strong opponents, or simply courting disaster—starting to stir when he laid eyes on Luffy and Bonney.
"140 million for Jewelry Bonney, 120 million for Roronoa Zoro, and a 300 million bounty on Straw Hat Luffy... Hey, Killer, are there any other strong players on this island?"
Kid's heartbeat began to race with excitement. Perhaps before venturing into the New World to take on the Yonko, he could get a taste of what it felt like to face monsters of that caliber.
"Relax, there are still a few more strong contenders on the island... Wait! Kid, calm down!"
Killer, ever the loyal partner, instantly caught onto Kid's intentions based solely on the change in his tone.
It wasn't that facing a Marine Admiral was impossible, but it was far too early for them to take such a risk! At least three to five more years were needed for Kid to grow into someone capable of facing a monster like that.
