[ SCP-939, With Many Voices ]
[ Object Class: Keter ]
[ Description:
SCP-939 are endothermic, pack-based predators that display atrophy of various systems similar to troglobitic organisms. The skin of SCP-939 is highly permeable to moisture and translucent red, owing to a compound chemically similar to hemoglobin. SCP-939 averages 2.2 meters tall while standing upright and weighs an average of 250 kg, though weight is highly variable. Each of their four limbs ends in three-fingered claws with a fourth opposable digit and is covered in setae, which considerably augment climbing ability. Their heads are elongated, devoid of even vestigial eyes or eye sockets, and contain no brain casing. The jaws of SCP-939 are lined with red, faintly luminescent fang-like teeth, similar to those belonging to specimens of the genus Chauliodus, measuring up to 6 cm in length and encircled by heat-sensitive pit organs. Eyespots, sensitive to light and dark, run the length of their spined dorsal ridges. These spines may be up to 16 cm long and are believed to be sensitive to changes in air pressure and... ]
"Let's go!" After making a decision, the group stepped into the elevator.
Thinking of the file they had just seen, everyone couldn't help feeling a little nervous. Brit pressed the button, the elevator door closed, and the elevator began to descend. In the quiet environment, only the sound of the elevator and the breathing of Andrew and the others could be heard.
After two seconds, Brit said, "This thing works in groups; it is estimated that there should be more than one down there. I don't know how many there are."
The others nodded at the same time; everyone was slightly worried about the upcoming exploration.
Then Vale said, "We'll assess the situation later. If it's really dangerous, you can take the opportunity to run after I intercept them. I should be able to hold them back."
The others didn't speak, but their hearts were heavy.
Soon, the elevator arrived.
Click!
The elevator door opened slowly, revealing a dark passageway in front of everyone.
"Let's go," Brit said softly.
The group walked forward for a few meters and saw a broken pipe lying on the ground, with thick black smoke covering the scene in front of them.
Upon seeing this, Brit urged again, "According to the file, those beasts have no eyes, so they are probably extremely sensitive to sound. Let's try to be as quiet as possible!"
The group nodded in agreement. Brit took the lead, and they passed through the thick smoke area and entered the depths of the warehouse. All they could see were large boxes, though they had no idea what was inside. The light was dim, and the air was suffocating. The group's breathing became more pronounced.
"That's where I was attacked by the beast before," Kiwo said, raising her hand to point at a circular passage not far away, speaking in a low voice.
Brit nodded slightly, then put on the Night Vision Goggles and took out the Navigator to check it. There was no danger warning on the navigator, indicating that in this warehouse, the beasts should be located elsewhere.
Without hesitation, Brit immediately walked toward the circular passage, and the others followed closely. The group crept into the passage with extreme caution. The light in the passage was still very dim, but fortunately, Brit's Night Vision Goggles allowed him to see well in the dark.
They walked forward a few meters and reached the corner of the passage. There on the ground, Brit spotted a Night Vision Goggle.
"It just so happens that we don't have enough Night Vision Goggles," Brit whispered excitedly as he picked it up.
With this, four out of five of them were now equipped with Night Vision Goggles.
"Go!" Brit looked at the navigator again, still finding no warning.
They turned the corner and kept going. Among them, Kiwo was holding onto Plumbella, her face pale and her nerves frayed. Her last experience had terrified her, so returning to this place left her feeling completely overwhelmed.
After the group reached the exit, Brit took a look outside, and what he saw was still a dark warehouse space of unknown area, with all sorts of large boxes strewn about.
"Did those things refresh elsewhere?" Brit frowned, then led the group out of the aisle and into the narrow space between the boxes.
After entering the narrow alley, they walked cautiously for a while until Brit noticed two things on the ground. Taking a closer look, he found another Severed Arm and a Night Vision Goggle.
"That's great, take it!" Brit exclaimed joyfully, handing the Night Vision Goggle to the others as he picked up the Severed Arm.
With enough equipment collected, the trip to the warehouse felt worth it. Moreover, Brit hadn't expected to find a Severed Arm here, but it was essential to keep it, as it might be useful in the future.
After picking up the Severed Arm, Brit subconsciously glanced at the Navigator, but when he did, he broke out in a cold sweat. At some point, a red dot appeared on the Navigator, not far from them.
["SCP-939"]
Brit quickly turned around and gestured for silence. He pointed to the Navigator and then in the direction of the elevator. They were shocked into silence, lowered their bodies, and slowly followed Brit's lead toward the elevator.
However, before they could move too far, Brit stopped, his face grim. He noticed that there were two more red dots on the Navigator screen.
"There are two more!" he whispered.
Unfortunately, the new two dots were on their way to the elevator.
"Damn it, when did they arrive?" Vale asked, surprised.
Brit shook his head. Then he stood up slowly, peered from behind a large box, and saw in the direction of the elevator two massive creatures covered in blood-red. They had slender heads and no eyes, but their mouths were full of sharp teeth, making them look very vicious.
"We're blocked!" Brit frowned tightly.
He bent down again and looked at the Navigator screen; he immediately realized that in the blink of an eye, another red dot had appeared, this time behind them, very close to the first one.
"Why are there so many?" Brit exclaimed while looking at the Navigator.
The situation was worsening as they found themselves surrounded by the beasts.
"No, we must find a way to break through!" Brit said anxiously.
Just as he finished speaking, two male voices suddenly came from the direction of the elevator.
"Anyone there?"
"Is anyone there?"
The voices sounded incredibly realistic; they could almost have been the voices of two human males. If they hadn't read the file in advance, anyone who heard these voices for the first time would assume it was a person speaking. This situation was both creepy and terrifying.
"F*ck, it's too realistic!" RT said, quietly moving to the side to glance into the distance through a gap.
Thanks to the Night Vision Goggles, he could see clearly. He observed as the mouths of the two monsters opened and closed, producing human-like voices again:
"What's wrong?"
"You don't have to be afraid!"
Upon hearing these voices, the group clenched their teeth, breaking out into a nervous sweat.
"If it doesn't work, I'll do it. You take the opportunity to run!" Vale gritted his teeth, determination etched on his face.
Brit was about to shake his head when suddenly the two beasts behind them also spoke:
"Are you guys okay?"
"Are you hurt? I saw you..."
Hearing this, the group instantly felt goosebumps rising all over their bodies. At that moment, they felt an illusion as if the creatures could see them.
"No! They're here!" Brit suddenly shouted, and they looked at the Navigator in his hand.
They were shocked to find that all four red dots were rapidly approaching their hiding place.
"It's over! They're going to surround us!" Kiwo lamented, her face bitter.
"RUN!!!" Brit yelled.
He immediately stood up straight, and the others followed suit. Upon standing, they saw two huge blood-red monsters charging toward them from both in front and behind. The beasts even crashed through some wooden boxes like bulldozers.
In that critical moment, Vale yelled, "GO!"
Upon shouting, he rushed out immediately.
Brit followed closely behind, shouting, "Let's go!!"
The others swiftly followed.
Vale's speed was undeniable, and he quickly approached the two beasts. His fist was raised high as he leaped, delivering a powerful punch that struck the beast.
Boom-!
The massive creature collapsed to the ground, sending dust flying. A fist-sized hole appeared where Vale had struck.
"Roar!" The beast let out a roar of pain.
Vale didn't stop; he immediately seized the neck of the charging beast with both hands, his eyes blood-red as he shouted, "Brit, go! Leave me here!"
Brit's forehead dripped with sweat. He gritted his teeth and led the group quickly past Vale and the two beasts. At that moment, the two other beasts in the distance also approached to attack Vale.
The group ran frantically, quickly passing through the smoke screen. After running for a few seconds, they ultimately reached the elevator entrance once again. They looked back just as Vale flew out from around the corner and crashed heavily against the wall, causing it to shudder.
Despite the pain, Vale endured, turning to look at Brit and the others, shouting, "Go, this power is just for this moment."
The group's eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Brit yelled, "Vale, you have to come out alive! We're waiting for you!"
Then the group rushed into the elevator and pressed the button. Just as the doors were nearly closing, they saw Vale vomit blood and rise from the ground, his face ravaged. Three beasts lunged toward him...
Immediately afterward, the elevator doors shut. They couldn't see the chaos behind them, but it was clear that a tragic battle lay ahead.
Upon returning, the group exited the elevator, looking back at the door in despair.
Time passed, and at that moment, the group felt as though they were in a game. Their hearts raced, and their minds spun in turmoil. They lost track of time, unsure whether they had waited mere moments or more than ten minutes.
Finally, the elevator door in front of them suddenly opened again. They were shocked, only for a wave of joy to rush over them.
"Vale is still alive!"
"Well, hot damn!"
"Hahaha!"
Brit and the others cheered excitedly.
As expected, after the elevator operated for a while, the door opened again, revealing Vale standing inside, covered in blood. One of his arms was missing, and terrible wounds marred his body.
But even so, he still smiled. "Hey... I'm back..."
After speaking, he raised his remaining arm, and in his hand was the head of the beast.
