DESTINY GAMES

Chapter 195: On And On.

He had his bath and ate some food. He didn't need to eat anymore since he got the Life Steal ability, but he liked the taste of food.

As he was eating, he contacted Red Dream to confirm the particulars of the meeting.

He asked her, "Has anything about the meeting changed?"

She replied soon after, "No, sir. There doesn't seem to be anything out of place, but I still have some reservations about this meeting."

His extraordinary perception kicked in immediately. It used his mental connection to her and made him become aware of her existence somewhere in the distance.

He was sure that he would be able to find her true body if he followed the direction his perception sensed her. It made him wonder briefly why he couldn't sense Wrath with Extraordinary Perception at all.

He dropped the line of thought and said to Red Dream, "You don't have to worry about it. Just make sure that your gang has increased productivity and revenue. As long as you keep the money flowing, there won't be any problems. You leave the difficult part to me."

She agreed, "You're right, boss. I'll be waiting for you."

He was worried a little bit about what stunt his future subordinates would pull on him during the meeting. His worry was just a little bit, and it was because he was in the dark about what they were preparing for him.

He is strong and can take down omegas, so he wasn't worried too much about what they will be planning. But now he has more confidence in thwarting their schemes thanks to his Extraordinary Perception ability.

They might have decided the time and selected the location, but he is sure that he won't be caught off guard by whatever they are planning. He is also confident in escaping from them. So he ate his food in peace.

Or he tried to enjoy his food in peace. Wrath didn't give him much peace ever since he told her that he had signed up for the foreign battlefield. She was chattering endlessly.

He didn't tell her what world he would be invading or when the invasion would be, but she didn't need him to supply her with information needed to go on an endless rant. She was a well of knowledge unto herself.

She was saying something about the types of expedition, and he was trying to pay attention to her while enjoying his meal.

"On one hand, a first invasion can go both ways. It can end in failure or success. Anything can happen since the unknown is so much."

"On the other hand, a reinforcement expedition means that something has gone terribly wrong with the first invasion and they need help. There would be a lot less unknown, and there will be more safety, but there will be less fun and fewer opportunities to earn merit."

"I don't know which one I want you to be a part of, but I can't wait. The foreign battlefield is always thrilling. And we can participate in it together. It would be a combination of your destiny games and missions in the real world. I wonder..."

At this point, he was just nodding along because his mind had wandered off to other things. It was her fault. What she said about the types of expedition made him think about the invasion of the Lignum world.

The invasion is the first of its kind. It is the first mobilization of the Yggdrasil civilization military to invade that world. So it is a first invasion expedition.

The Yggdrasil civilization has investigated the Lignum world to a certain extent. But there are a lot of blind spots and uncertainties, which means the outcome of the first invasion is uncertain.

According to Wrath, it is rare for a first invasion to fail and need reinforcements, but it can happen. Even if it doesn't happen, the soldiers of the first invasion have the highest casualty rates due to the uncertainties, accidents, and unknown dangers.

It is also why gaining merits is easy to do in the first invasion. In fact, just acquiring new important information is enough to gain a lot of merit. That is something that subsequent expeditions will find difficult to achieve.

Wrath spoke on and on about the upcoming expedition. She was clearly excited about it. He couldn't really blame her. He too was looking forward to it. If only for the fact that he would meet humans from other versions of Earth for the first time.

He has always been curious about what they looked and sounded like. The invasion will give him the opportunity to find out since he will fight together with them.

He finished eating his food and left for one of his safe houses. Wrath continued to talk about the foreign battlefield as he drove his hoverbike there.

When he got there, he picked a set of clothes that he was willing to lose. It was just a T-shirt and jeans. Then he took a cab that drove him to the city gate.

The first thing he did when he got out into the wilds was to sigh in relief. His body relaxed, and for the first time since he entered the city yesterday, he was able to take a full breath that filled his lungs.

He hadn't realized that he had been taking shallow breaths ever since he entered the city. He also didn't know that his body had been tense for the past few hours.

It was only now that there was no longer the pressure of the dark star breathing down his neck that he realized that he had been on edge when he was in the city.

He said to Wrath, "Let's hope I will be able to enter the city again."

She rolled her eyes at him and said, "Don't be so dramatic. I'm sure you'll be fine."

He only shook his head. He didn't argue with her because he doesn't know if she truly doesn't think much of a demigod or if she thinks highly of him. But he knows that he wasn't being dramatic when he said what he said.
