Chapter 192: Locking In.
Then there was the amount of trouble he attracted after killing the Count. Thorin came for him and about a hundred thousand people became idiots.
Those hundred thousand people were just collateral damage. There was also the many people he killed so that he could take over their apartments and turn it into a safe house. Those safe houses were also rugged to explode, which many of them did.
So there were indeed a large amount of loss to lives and property in the process of acquiring the Life Steal ability. When compared to be being a bounty hunter for a few months, the cost of Extraordinary Perception seems acceptable.
He shrugged and said, "High risk, I reward. But that might not be so in the future. In the future I will have a cabal, and they will do all the work for him. So I won't need to take high risks to get high rewards."
Unfortunately, he still has a major problem to contend with in terms of game points. Even if he gets all the money in the world, he still needs game points to increase his ability. That means he still needs to risk his life.
Currently, he has just one game point. The only thing he can afford currently is to remove an ability. Even then, he can only remove one ability. So he can't render himself completely powerless even if he wants to.
The amount of game points he needs to open a new slot has doubled to 320. That is just the sixth slot. He still has the seventh, eighth, and ninth slots to deal with.
That will require 320, 640, 1280, and 2560 game points for a total of 4,800. Each slot also requires its own game points for fusion. By his estimate, he will need a total of 10,000 game points for him to take full advantage of his Power Shifting ability. Enjoy new adventures from My Virtual Library Empire
It will take him a lot of time, effort, and danger to accumulate this much. Just thinking about him made him groan.
But he didn't let the difficulty discourage him. He said to himself, "Just like father used to say, if you haven't done everything you could possibly do to survive, then you don't deserve to survive. If you haven't put in all your effort to achieve something, then you don't deserve it."
Of course, the Patriarch was referring to only the matter of what we deserve. Deserving something doesn't mean we will get that thing.
Life is unfair at every turn. You can do everything possible, and you can do everything right, but still fail. But if you didn't do everything possible to achieve something, then you can't claim to deserve that thing.
He intends to do everything possible to become the God king of Earth. So until he has achieved that, he will continue trying. He won't let 10,000 game points discourage him. This is essentially so when the alternative is death.
Since he was already in the tower of destiny, he decided to see what his next game would be. This information will ultimately decide if he will sign up for the foreign battlefield or not.
He focused more, so his mind delved deeper into the white tower. When he appeared within the private white space that belonged to him, he found many things waiting for him.
Most of them were floating bubbles containing messages from supposed fans and enemies. He didn't bother with them. Instead, he decided to open the information packet for his next game.
This information packet was the game wheel. But different from the ones he used in the amateur league, he doesn't have any day in the game he will play.
He can't select numbers or turn the wheel. The game he will play has already been decided for him almost a day ago. All he has to do is inform himself on the game and prepare for it.
He opened this information packet and saw that the game was a survival test.
Destiny Game 11

-Objective: Survive Excellently.
-Description: 100 participants will be dropped into the ocean around an island. The objective is to reach the island and climb to the top of the mountain at the center of this island. There will be survival obstacles that will include the ocean, ice plain, desert sandstorm, and lava lake.
- Rule 1: The game will start after the moderator gives the go-ahead.
- Rule 2: The game will end after ten of the participants reach the top of the mountain.
- Rule 3: Only the first ten will pass the game and be rewarded.
- Rule 4: Every participant can use any method to complete the objective.
- Rule 5: Game weapons and artifacts can't be used during this game.
He read the description and the rules and was able to understand what kind of game he would play.
He grumbled, "It is a race. I hate races."
The survival of the fittest is a common game in the Destiny games. Unlike what its name suggests, the competitors won't be fighting each other directly. Instead, they will be competing with each other in terms of fitness.
The survival of the fittest game is a test of the endurance and survivability of the players. The environment itself will be their major enemy. They will have to achieve various goals while being hindered by various environmental conditions and extremes.
Most times, the players will be too busy with the environment to bother with the other players. In this case, it appears it will be so. It also appears that it will be a race to the top, which he doesn't like.
He can still remember the first race he participated in. It was his second game. He encountered the girl with the psychic scream ability. He also encountered the guy with the forcefield that grows stronger the angrier he becomes.
Those two are not the reason why he hates races. It is the need to prioritize speed over kill count that makes him hate races.
