Chapter 1724 Spooders
--- Kat --- (Sunday Sunday Sunday!)
"So really I think we should just take out the entire wall," finished Vivian as Kat and Lily stared at her.
Walking back a bit. Sylvie, Penny and Alice had decided that taking a ’citizen of the forest’ home with them was probably a bad idea. Especially when they had no idea how to feed or care for a spider. Kat thought that was the end of it… but as soon as Sylvie got into the car with Callisto she was immediately trying to convince the maid in question that they should get a spider.
Callisto’s response very quickly boiled down to "I do not care as long as Vivian is ok with it," which… wasn’t the most helpful answer but very much an expected one coming from Callisto. Kat also wasn’t sure what sort of conclusion she actually wanted Vivian or Callisto to reach. Sylvie did seem keen about the idea… but Kat was less enthusiastic about it. Was it really a good idea to keep a spider around?
Vivian seemed to think so when they all met up for dinner. The discussion went on for a while, and continued after Lily made it inside. The matched pair had thought it was a bit weird… but still didn’t think anyone was taking it seriously. Especially not when Vivian continued to refer to them as ’Fluffly Little Spooders’.
So coming down to breakfast and finding Vivian with a rather detailed sketch of a spider enclosure that was meant to replace the whole damned wall? That was a bit of a wake up call. "Wait so you’re serious about this?" asked Kat. She just had to.
"Yeah?" asked Vivian unsure. "Why wouldn’t I be?" Vivian slapped the drawings in her hand. The diagram depicted one of the walls in the house, though it was somewhat unclear which one. A large section in the middle had been cut out and there was a glass terrarium in the gap. Vivian had then gone on to add specific details for the trees and rock placements as well as pointing out a few branches that were actually acting as support beams.
"It just seems… extreme to jump straight to removing sections of the wall as the first step," said Lily.
Vivian glanced down at her plans, up at the nearby wall that probably wasn’t large enough to account for them, then back down at the plans. "Hmmm… I get what you’re saying but like… this is my job. Finding cool set pieces for people and places. Sure a lot of it is finding the right furniture for a room but I’ve designed plenty of features in my time.
"It wasn’t recent but I ended up doing a huge fishtank for this lovely gay couple with more money then sense. I had to do some research on how to clean and maintain a tank that large and I charged them through the nose for it… and then they asked me to DESIGN A SECOND ONE! Which I mean, lovely couple as I said but way more money then sense,"
Kat frowned a bit at that. "Wait… so you know how to set up a fishtank… but what about a spider one?"
Vivian shrugged, "Eh I know some of the basics but this is very much just the design stage. I want to see if it looks cool enough and if Callisto will let me get away with busting down a wall for it. I’m serious but not stupid,"
"Isn’t it your house though?" asked Lily.
Vivian gave Lily a raised eyebrow. "Really?"
Lily blushed, "Yeah it was a stupid question and I realised that as soon as it left my mouth,"
Kat shook her head before leaning over and giving Lily a quick kiss on the head and a side hug. "Right so… that was adorable and all but I still want to know why you’re going straight for a big tank like this instead of a little one. You distracted us by talking about a big fishtank you did for some couple once… but while cool that doesn’t really justify THIS tank… like at all,"
Vivian shrugged, "Eh… I probably had a point at the start. As for my justification though? It just seems like a cool idea. I mean… sure we could get a little tank but a huge one would be so much cooler! Plus if I set it up correctly we can probably house a couple of spiders and maybe some other animals. We’d always have something to look at,"
"Still not seeing a reason to start so grand Vivian…" Kat sighed.
"Meh," shrugged Vivian again. "Maybe it’s just who I am. It seems cool and I have a lot of the skills. I bet between myself and Callisto we could build it for sure and if we had your help for the heavy lifting it wouldn’t even take that long once we ordered all the parts," Explore more stories with NovelBin.Côm
Kat shook her head a few times, "Alright look I’m not going to stop you if this is something you really want to do… just… this seems a bit fast considering Sylvie just recently suggested this,"
Vivian shrugged, "Eh… I consider getting a pet once every three months or so and normally Callisto talks me out of it for one reason or another. She’s usually right… but pets are awesome and Sylvie managed to talk her into this one if I’m interested. Not sure if she thought I’d be scared of spiders or if Callisto is more willing to have a spider then all of my previous suggestions,"
"Speaking off, where ARE Sylvie and Callisto. They said they were going out but I was in the backyard practice and didn’t exactly have a proper conversation about it," asked Kat.
"No idea, they didn’t tell me," said Vivian before pausing. "It better not be to pick up a spider. I’m still planning the setup!"
Kat glanced over at Lily who shrugged back at Kat. Letting out a sigh Kat turned back to Vivian and asked, "Alright so… let’s say that this isn’t too crazy and you go through with it… how the heck are you meant to clean the thing?"
"Well if I make it right I shouldn’t need to clean it too much… but I was thinking of making sure the glass is removable and you can just pluck it out, clean it, and then put it back in. If anything inside needs cleaning… well the glass is removable. Oh and I’d probably have a door on the side or something so that you can feed the spiders if I end up just going with that instead of a full ecosystem… which I might need to hire someone to plan out… hmm…"
"Wait… multiple spiders now?" asked Kat.
"Well it’s a big tank!" insisted Vivian. "They’d probably get lonely if there was only one of them so there should be at least a couple,"
"But you’re the one designing the tank!" hissed Kat. "You can make it any size you want!"
"Yeah and I want it to be big and awesome, and if it’s big and awesome it probably needs more than one spider in it!" cheered Vivian.
Kat felt like she was getting a headache even though her regeneration helped with that. She had to deal with the girls hanging around with a potentially poisonous spider and it just acting like nothing was wrong the whole time. Now she has to deal with Vivian wanting to replace a wall instead of taking things slow. "Alright, fine whatever. What sort of spiders?"
"Eh… not sure. Depends how many I want to put in the tank. Like, if I just go for one with a bunch of other stuff for them to interact with and eat then I don’t need to worry about it… but if I go for multiple? Well then I need to pick one of a few specific spiders because otherwise they’ll attack each other. If they’re tarantula that is. It’s different for different types of spiders but like…
"I just don’t know. I want it big and fancy but the cold reality of things is that putting a bunch of spiders together isn’t the best idea apparently. So maybe I should get a single tarantula that’s super cool! Or go for other kinds of spiders? But then the issue is how long they live. I really don’t want a them to die after just like a year or two,"
Hmm… hey Lily do you think…
[No.]
I didn’t even finish the thought!
[No Kat. We ARE NOT looking for giant demonic spiders to bring home! I don’t care if they’re approved pets or not because ’approved for use’ by DEMONS is probably not a high bar. Especially if they want you to actually have a demonic flame before you buy one. It would NOT be safe and the glass probably wouldn’t hold them. We are NOT even suggesting it.]
What if it’s really fluffy? I’m sure that demons have extra fluffy spiders.
