Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Goku vs. Jiren
In Universe 7, on the top floor of Frieza's spaceship, a shadowed figure sat in a floating chair, rising slowly against the vast, starlit void of space. It was none other than Frieza, the Emperor of the Universe himself.
Surrounding Frieza's spaceship, his vast army stood, awaiting their leader's words. He scanned his loyal troops, a wicked smile forming on his lips.
"Everyone," Frieza began, his voice oozing arrogance, "sorry for the wait. The Emperor of the Universe has been fully resurrected!" His words echoed across the expanse, a proclamation that reverberated through his followers, igniting both fear and awe.
Though it was his second resurrection, the ritual was as grand as ever, reminding everyone that Frieza was truly back.
…
Time passed quickly, and within a mere two days, events began unfolding in another universe.
In Universe 11, on the grassy plains of the divine realm, Jiren and Toppo were engrossed in training. Jiren, always focused and relentless, couldn't shake a particular image from his mind—Goten. Despite his towering strength, the memory of his loss during the Tournament of Power lingered. It was a defeat that had pierced his pride, and Jiren, unwilling to accept it, vowed silently to grow even stronger.
As Jiren trained, intent on surpassing his limits, a radiant beam of light pierced the sky, descending onto the grass before him and Toppo. When the light dissipated, three figures emerged: Goku, Beerus, and Whis, their presence immediately stirring the air around them.
"Goku!" Toppo paused his training and acknowledged Goku with a nod, his face a mix of respect and intrigue.
Goku returned the nod, his usual grin spreading across his face. In the distance, Marcarita, Universe 11's Angel, approached, carrying a platter of food for the gathering.
"Lord Beerus," she greeted with a formal bow.
Beerus nodded, glancing towards Belmod, Universe 11's God of Destruction. "Why are you here today, Beerus?" Belmod asked, casting a sideways look at Goku.
Beerus smirked. "Ask him," he said, gesturing towards Goku.
Goku scratched his head and chuckled. "Actually, I as Master Beerus brought me here because…" His eyes fixed on Jiren, a fire of determination blazing within them. "I want to fight Jiren!"
The declaration hung in the air, instantly capturing everyone's attention. Belmod looked at Jiren, his eyes narrowing. "What do you say, Jiren?"
Jiren, who had momentarily paused his practice, met Goku's gaze. Despite his usual stoic demeanor, he felt a spark of anticipation. This was a chance to test himself against one of the Saiyan warriors who had challenged him like few others had.
"Alright," Jiren replied, his voice steady, accepting the challenge without hesitation.
"Perfect!" Goku grinned, his excitement palpable. "Then let's fight over there!" he gestured toward the wide, open field ahead.
The two warriors moved to the open space, the wind stilling as if in reverence of the impending clash. Toppo, observing from a distance, felt a flicker of frustration. It was clear that Goku hadn't come to fight him. The realization stung, reminding Toppo of the gap in power that remained between him and the Saiyan. Yet, instead of resentment, he found a new determination to push himself even further, vowing to someday challenge Goku himself.
Ten meters apart, Goku and Jiren faced off. Goku adopted his usual stance, feet firmly planted, a determined glint in his eye. Jiren stood calmly, his hands relaxed by his sides, observing his opponent with an unreadable expression.
"Ready?" Goku called, his voice brimming with energy.
Jiren gave a single nod, his eyes unwavering.
"Ha!" With a fierce shout, Goku launched himself forward, his speed almost a blur. Jiren watched him approach, his eyes glowing with a faint red light. Without moving a muscle, he unleashed a series of invisible shockwaves that crashed into Goku, halting his advance and sending him skidding backward.
"Ahh!" Goku cried out as the force pushed him away, his body vibrating with the impact. From the sidelines, Beerus sighed, covering his face in exasperation.
Belmod chuckled. "It seems Jiren is as strong as ever. And Goku… still as reckless," he remarked, clearly enjoying the spectacle. He had always relished moments when Universe 7's fighters struggled. During the Tournament of Power, Beerus had often boasted, fueled by Goten's achievements. Now, the tables had turned.
Realizing he would need more than his base form, Goku steadied himself, a smile playing on his lips. "Looks like I'll have to get serious!" With a shout, his energy surged, enveloping him in a brilliant blue aura as he transformed into Super Saiyan Blue.
Without missing a beat, he dashed toward Jiren, his fists blazing. But before he could land a punch, Jiren vanished, reappearing behind him in an instant.
"What—?!" Goku barely had time to react before a powerful blow struck his back. The force sent him hurtling into the distance, smashing into a massive boulder that shattered upon impact. Goku grimaced, pulling himself from the rubble, only to find Jiren already advancing toward him.
The next exchange was brutal. Jiren's fists struck like lightning, each blow aimed with precision. Goku tried to block, but the sheer power overwhelmed him. A fist to his abdomen forced a gasp from him, and Jiren followed with a kick that launched Goku into a massive stone gate. He collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath as he glared back at Jiren.
But Goku wasn't done. Taking a deep breath, he allowed his body to relax, his eyes turning a calm silver-gray as a silver-white aura enveloped him. This was Ultra Instinct—though still imperfect, it was a testament to his relentless pursuit of mastery.
Toppo, watching from afar, clenched his fists. He had seen this form before, understanding its significance and power. Belmod's expression also hardened, aware of how few, even among the gods, could access such a form.
Without warning, Goku disappeared in a flash of white light, reappearing before Jiren in the blink of an eye. His movements were fluid, his fists striking faster than the eye could follow. Jiren dodged and countered, their blows meeting in a clash that sent shockwaves across the landscape.
"Impressive," Jiren murmured, barely audible as he poured more strength into each counter.
With a final, earth-shaking clash, their fists collided, generating a blast that rippled through the grasslands, uprooting trees and sending clouds of dust into the air. Jiren dug in, his fist overpowering Goku's, and with a mighty shove, he forced him back.
Goku stumbled but quickly steadied himself. Jiren appeared before him once more, delivering a powerful kick that sent him crashing backward.
