Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Lavender Is Out
Bang!!
Under the combined assault of Bergamo and Basil, Frieza's body was sent flying, his form smashing into the jagged rock debris behind him. The entire area erupted in a cloud of sand and dust, swallowing him in a haze of pulverized stone.
"Trio of Danger versus Frieza!?" Goten couldn't hold back a smile as he watched Frieza reeling from the blow. Frieza was certainly one of the most captivating figures in the Dragon Ball universe—charismatic, cunning, and undeniably powerful. But that charisma was often marred by his ruthless arrogance. Perhaps it was that very trait that earned him loyal subordinates like Captain Ginyu, who would risk their lives for him without a second thought.
But to Goten, Frieza was nothing more than a long-time enemy. He'd watched Frieza's battles, witnessed the chaos and cruelty he brought to each encounter. Seeing Frieza finally humbled, forced to fight hard, brought him a rare sense of satisfaction. They might be allies for now, but Goten knew as soon as the tournament was over, Frieza would once again be an enemy to the Z Fighters.
The dust began to settle, and through the thinning haze, Frieza's silhouette emerged. His face twisted in anger, eyes locked on the three wolves of Universe 9. A predatory glint flashed in his eyes as he glared at them, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. Bergamo met his glare with a smirk, shrugging off Frieza's menacing aura as if it were nothing more than a gentle breeze.
"Ahhhh!" With a roar that echoed through the arena, Frieza's ki surged upward, his power radiating with raw intensity. The ground itself quivered under the pressure, fractures spreading out like spiderwebs as his aura expanded. In an explosive burst, his form was suddenly enveloped in a radiant golden light, revealing his Golden Frieza transformation.
Gasps and murmurs rippled through the spectators as the gods looked on with expressions of both awe and surprise. The two Omni-Kings, usually so focused on their playful banter, turned their attention to Frieza, their eyes wide as they observed the shimmering golden glow surrounding him.
"Wow! His whole body turned golden!" the Present Omni-King exclaimed, clearly fascinated.
"Uh-huh!" The Future Omni-King nodded in agreement, captivated by the brilliance of Frieza's form.
Across the stage, Bergamo, Basil, and Lavender stood in stunned silence, their confidence visibly shaken. Until now, they'd dismissed Frieza as a weakling, one who lurked in the shadows while others fought. But this transformation shattered that assumption. Frieza's power was clearly on par with Goku and the others, perhaps even surpassing some of them.
Frieza's lips curled into a smirk, clearly enjoying their expressions of disbelief. "What's wrong? Are you scared? Regretting your decision to provoke me? It's too late now. I'm going to teach you the consequences of crossing Lord Frieza."
Bergamo clenched his fists, his face contorted with a mixture of frustration and fury. Golden Frieza might be strong, but numbers were still on their side. Frieza had no right to be so cocky, not when faced with the combined strength of the Trio of Danger. Driven by his anger, Bergamo gave a quick nod to his brothers, signaling the next round.
Without hesitation, the three wolves leaped toward Frieza, each moving with precise, deadly intent. Frieza met their charge head-on, his movements fluid yet fierce as he exchanged blows with Bergamo and Basil. The impact of each clash echoed through the arena, creating a symphony of punches and shockwaves.
Lavender, meanwhile, hung back, his eyes narrow as he searched for an opening. Frieza's movements were fast, almost blindingly so, but Lavender was patient, waiting for that one vulnerable moment when he could strike without risk.
Bang!! After exchanging a series of blows, Frieza's speed surged. With a swift knee thrust, he drove his leg into Basil's abdomen with brutal precision.
"Argh!" Basil let out a scream as he was thrown back by the powerful strike, clutching his stomach in agony.
"Basil!" Bergamo's eyes widened, startled to see his brother brought down so easily. But he had no time to react before Frieza was upon him, delivering a vicious uppercut to his chin. The force of the blow sent his head snapping back, leaving him momentarily dazed.
Frieza seized the opportunity, unleashing a barrage of punches to Bergamo's abdomen, each one landing with crushing force. Bergamo staggered back, gasping in pain as he struggled to stay upright, his retreat marked by a series of guttural, painful cries.
"Brother!" Lavender shouted, desperation clear in his voice. Summoning his power, he unleashed a thick cloud of poison gas, the noxious fumes billowing out toward Frieza. Frieza was forced to retreat, temporarily halted as he shielded himself from the toxic mist.
"Poison?" Frieza muttered, his expression hardening. Individually, he could easily take each of them down. But together, their attacks were creating just enough pressure to keep him at bay. He would need to eliminate one of them quickly to shift the battle in his favor.
As Frieza strategized, Basil had already rejoined his brothers, his earlier pain set aside in a show of tenacity. "Let's use our team attack!" he called out, and Bergamo nodded in agreement.
With synchronized precision, the Trio of Danger unleashed their combined attack: yellow, red, and blue energy waves cascading toward Frieza with devastating force. Frieza, recognizing the threat, leaped high into the air, evading the initial onslaught. But he was still bound by the tournament's no-flight rule. As his feet touched the ground, the Trio of Danger closed in, forming a tight triangle around him.
Frieza's face tightened in frustration, but he didn't back down. He knew that each second he held his ground would weaken their defenses. Bergamo began, launching a massive energy wave from both hands, its raw power aimed directly at Frieza. Basil followed suit, raising his foot as he charged an energy blast, then releasing it with a powerful kick. Lavender's attack was laced with poison, as waves of toxic energy spiraled toward Frieza from both hands.
Though Frieza's reflexes allowed him to dodge most of the blasts, the relentless nature of their attack wore on him. Forced to defend himself, he raised his arms to block, inching his way closer to Lavender. Lavender was the weakest, and Frieza knew that eliminating him would tilt the scales.
Goten, watching from the sidelines, saw Frieza struggling and decided to intervene. In his right hand, he summoned a purple Hakai, the destructive energy crackling with dark intensity. With a focused thought, he transmitted it directly to Basil, his energy vanishing in an instant before reappearing at his target.
Caught off guard, Basil's eyes widened as the Hakai appeared before him. He instinctively ceased his energy attack, raising his hands in a desperate attempt to shield himself from the deadly force.
"Hakai!" the gods gasped, startled by Goten's unexpected move. Even more astonishing was his ability to transmit the attack directly to Basil.
"Marcarita, what happened with Goten just now?" Belmod asked, unable to tear his eyes away from the scene.
"That's his unique power," Marcarita replied calmly. "A form of dimensional transfer."
Belmod's gaze turned thoughtful. "So he can strike anywhere?"
"Not quite. He can only reach what he sees," she clarified, studying Goten intently.
"Controlling Hakai…" Belmod mused aloud, glancing at Beerus. "Could he be a candidate for Universe 7's God of Destruction?"
Toppo, too, was watching Goten closely. Destruction Ki was exclusive to the Gods of Destruction. The fact that Goten wielded it hinted at his potential for godhood, even if he was still young.
"Ah!" Basil grunted as he fought to withstand the Hakai, his energy reserves quickly depleted. With a final, agonized scream, he was thrown backward, knocked out of position by the force of the attack.
"Basil!" Bergamo's face twisted in worry, seeing his brother hurt.
Seizing the opportunity, Frieza closed the distance between himself and Lavender, his golden form blazing as he launched a powerful punch. His fist struck with overwhelming force.
Bang!! The impact was deafening, and in the blink of an eye, Lavender's body was flung from the arena, his form streaking across the sky like a comet, only to vanish from view.
Lavender was out, and Frieza's smirk returned, his pride evident as he prepared for the remaining two wolves.
