"What?! Ahhh, damn, it feels like my eyes are burning! Why, oh god, why?!"
Huhuhu, ok, I think I'm better, and everything's in slow motion. And what's with the symbols everywhere, especially on that tower?
[Hello. If you wish for a new reward, please complete the mission: Level Up.]
Ok? Sure. Now then, I need to find out where to go now and probably leave this slum and walk towards the dungeon. Maybe I can figure out this level-up thing there.
Ben starts walking down the road.
"Wow, look at all these shops. The place looks so medieval. It's cool, so I must be in some medieval world with what I assume to be maybe magic. And from the looks of it, if my guess about that tower is right, that should be like a dungeon of monsters."
Ben walked up to what looked to be the entrance to the dungeon, walked in, and found a giant room with multiple counters with what looked to be people with long ears.
"Huh, are those elves? Like in that game Dungeons & Dragons? I wonder if this world is like that. It would explain the people with animal features and the short but sturdy people I passed by. Oh, I wonder if there's like dragonborn and gods and demons and spirits and all those cool creatures."
"Hi, are you here to sign up to be an adventurer?" a lady at a counter asked before looking him up and down in interest. "And can I ask where you got your clothes? They seem so high quality."
"Oh, yeah, they are made by machines, so they have no imperfections, and they're made of cashmere. I guess in this place, you guys would not even have access to that material, huh? And my shirt's made of vicuña, and both pieces of clothing have a layer of Kevlar because of the nature of my now old job, and both pieces of clothing even have the company's name embroidered with golden threads.
"My undershirt is made of guanaco camel's wool, which is very soft and cozy. And lastly, my shoes are custom-made with materials, with the upper part being made of Dyneema-infused leather, which is the world's strongest fiber and 15x stronger than steel by weight but can still be woven into fabrics for flexibility.
"The leather is Grade-A full-grain leather—tanned for softness but ultra-durable. The fabric is graphene-coated fabric, which adds strength, water resistance, and self-cleaning properties.
"The midsole has a 4D-printed custom lattice structure, fully tailored to my foot shape and walking pattern, absorbing impact while providing long-term comfort.
"The cushioning is aerogel cushioning—originally used by NASA, this material is incredibly light while offering superior insulation and shock absorption.
"The material for the outsole is Vibram Megagrip rubber infused with industrial diamond particles—insane grip and near-impervious to wear. The titanium-reinforced shank ensures structural integrity over decades of wear.
"The lining and insoles are memory foam infused with carbon fiber threads—adapting to the foot while remaining ultra-light.
"It has self-regulating temperature tech—inspired by spacesuit materials to keep feet cool or warm as needed.
"Its extra features are a self-healing coating that repairs minor scratches automatically, embedded AI sensors that track foot health, posture, and pressure points, adjusting cushioning in real-time, a self-lacing system inspired by Nike Adapt but more advanced with biometric adjustments, and waterproof & stain-proof hydrophobic nanocoating that repels liquids and dirt."
"It's what?!" the elf asked in major confusion. "What is all that?"
"Basically, it makes it repair itself, clean itself, be extremely durable, and automatically tie itself, among other things."
"Well, that's cool, I guess. So, do you want to head into the dungeon?"
"I guess. Sounds fun," Ben said animatedly.
"…What familia are you from again?" the assistant asked, questioning.
"What's a familia?" Ben asked.
"Oh, that's… huh, you don't know what a familia is?" the assistant asked.
"Nope. Is it some kind of, like, a guild group or something?" Ben asked.
"No, or I guess kinda. It's where you get marked by a goddess, becoming part of their familia, allowing you to surpass the limits of humanity using falna," the assistant replied.
"So can I go in the dungeon now?"
"Technically, you can, but it's not advised without a falna," the assistant warned.
"Cool, Ima go. See you later," Ben said.
"Wait! You don't have a weapon!" the assistant yelled.
"Huh, I guess I would need one, huh? Alright, where would I get one?" Ben asked.
"The guild supplies one weapon to all new adventurers," the assistant said.
"Oh, thanks," Ben said as he held out his hand.
The assistant gave Ben a short sword, and Ben ran off into the dungeon.
Ben was walking down to the first floor and saw something. It kinda looked like a little green man, and he yelled out, "Ha! Who are you over there?"
The goblin looked back, and Ben realized that this must be a monster. The goblin swung a crudely made knife at him. Ben parried in less than a second, then cut the goblin's head off without any hesitation.
"Oh, what's this? Some sort of crystal? Might as well carry it—should give a pretty penny. Also, those were some really intricate-looking seals that appeared after the little green man died, and I'm guessing they made him disappear or something like that," Ben said thoughtfully.
"Well, I'll figure it out later. Let's go kill more."
Ben then ran into a group of three goblins. All three goblins swung at him with their knives. Ben simply watched slowly. It was like they were moving in slow motion. Then he slightly turned his body and precisely parried all their knives to the side with a small sideways slash. Then, he moved his sword up and slashed down diagonally, slicing through all three goblins at once.
"These eyes are so cool. It's like I know exactly what to do at all times, and everything's so slow. Also, that strange symbol popped up again, and the bodies, I guess, disappeared, but it looked more like they simply disintegrated and almost like they were absorbed by the dungeon. Well, that would be a cool magic. Alright, now then, let's go kill some more. This is a real stress relief."
Ben continued walking for another 15 minutes.
"Damn it, where are the monsters? Oh shit, what's this? A pathway downwards? You know what? Fuck it, let's go in. Maybe there will be more monsters to kill farther down."
Ben then walked down the path, got to where it leveled out, and continued walking. Then, a dungeon lizard jumped at Ben from his side. Ben leaned his body back and sliced the lizard in half instantly.
"Ooh, a bigger crystal. Nice."
Then suddenly, a wall opened up a bit, and five kobolds fell out.
"Cool, a bunch of dog-headed guys."
The kobolds surrounded Ben and attacked him from all sides. Ben simply jumped and slashed down at one of the kobolds, then twisted his body and slashed another, but his sword got stuck in the kobold's arm bone. So, he ran up to another kobold and punched him in the throat hard enough to smash his windpipe. Then, he jumped again and axe-kicked the kobold with his sword still in it. It disintegrated into particles. He grabbed his sword mid-air, landed, then swung down diagonally at the two other kobolds coming at him, cutting both of them in half before they disappeared.
"Nice, some more crystals. And what's this? Some type of nail? Well, might as well take it. Oh, I should probably start heading back. I've been in here for like 45 minutes, and I want to see if I can get some iron knuckles or a hammer. They should be more durable than a sword."
Ben then started walking back up to the top of the tower. He ran into one more pack of three goblins on his way and sliced them apart in two swings, grabbed their stones, and even got a goblin tooth from one.
Ben then walked up the steps, got to the top, and went to the counter.
"Hi, miss, good to see you again."
"Oh, hi there! It's only been 1 hour and 30 minutes. Are you already done?"
"Yeah, got a few things. I have seven stones from the little green guys, five stones from the dog-head guys, and one stone from a weird lizard. Also got the tooth of one of those green guys and a nail from the dog-head guy."
"You hunted 13 level-one monsters without a falna in 90 minutes?"
"I guess," Ben said questioningly. "Wasn't that hard. They just took a while to find."
"Ok, well, the lizard's stone is worth 1,400 valis, the seven goblin stones are 8,400 valis, and the five kobold stones are 6,000 valis. The kobold's nail is 2,500 valis, and the goblin's tooth is 2,000 valis. That's, in all, 20,300 valis," the assistant said as she took the items and gave the money to Ben.
Then Ben asked, "Hey, ma'am, one more thing—"
"Please stop calling me ma'am. Call me Abby. And what do you need?"
"Do you know where I can find a cheap blacksmith to make me some iron knuckles or gauntlets?"
"Even the cheapest of blacksmiths, you will need at least 15,000 valis to get a single gauntlet. But there is one place you can go to—Hephaestus's shop—and buy some of the cheaper items there."
"One more thing. Do you know someone who would be willing to show me a magic spell? I will pay them, of course."
"There might be some level-one adventurers willing to do that, sure, but it might take a while. You can put in a request for it."
"I'll do it later. For now, I'll go to that store. What are the directions?"
I have stopped writing on the other fanfics at least for now and will be focusing I'm on this one so listen I will be making one to two chapters a day everyday and will post one everyday if you give like enough power stones or reviews or collections paragraph comments or even enough readers read the entire chapters every time there realized I will give extra chapters ok
