Tanaka

"Karl, thank you so much for your help this time."

"It was just a matter of convenience, but it might be difficult for her to recover quickly. You should stay with her."

After handing the still-unconscious Sasha over to Maine, who had come to take her, Karl glanced back at the Biotech building, wondering why no one from Biotech had pursued her.

According to Maine, Sasha had an accident during the mission and was forced to jump from a great height. Even so, it would have made sense for someone from Biotech to check if she was dead or alive, right?

Did they assume Sasha was dead? Were the people at Biotech really that negligent?

Karl stared at the Biotech building, noting how quiet it remained.

This Italian company was indeed mysterious.

Because of Sasha, Maine hurriedly thanked Karl and left with her to continue treatment. According to him, the mission involving Tanaka might be delayed for a few days.

Karl wasn't worried about the delay. Military Technology had given them a generous two-month deadline, so a day or two wouldn't matter.

What mattered now was...

Karl turned to look at the car whose roof had been damaged.

He realized it was a 'Villefort Alvarado.'

No wonder.

Karl had experienced this car before and knew how soft its cushions were. It seemed the luxurious interior had saved Sasha's life.

Karl initially thought about compensating for the damage, but now it seemed unnecessary.

There were two reasons.

First, anyone who could afford this car was either a high-ranking corporate operative or a gang leader. Such people didn't need Karl's money, and he had no intention of rewarding them. Second...

The owner of this car was likely already aware of the damage and had made their own plans regarding Karl.

"Ah!"

"You're dead, kid!"

Three gang members, riding heavily modified motorcycles, approached from a distance. Their shirts bore the words "Noisy Superior" and "Dead at Night." Karl had no choice but to draw his Kenshin sword.

Tiger Claw Gang—seemed like the car owner had ties to them.

"This is going to end badly."

"Bang."

With a gunshot so swift it sounded like a single crack, Karl stood motionless, sheathing his Kenshin as three Tiger Claw gang members, each with a bullet hole in their heads, collapsed with their overturned motorcycles, skidding more than ten meters away.

"That's grim."

Glancing at the bloodied bodies, Karl yawned.

Today had been exhausting—watching brain dance wreath learn and performing surgery had drained him. He was getting sleepy.

And he still hadn't eaten.

He was tired. After a meal, he would go to bed early and start fresh tomorrow.

Karl activated his communicator, but there were still no messages from Oliver or Jack.

Those two... they could at least ask if he was hungry when he was alone.

Deciding to return to the same restaurant as yesterday, Karl left the damaged car and the three Tiger Claw Gang bodies behind. A minute later, the car's owner received the report.

"Have the people we sent been dealt with?"

A middle-aged man in an Arasaka uniform was visibly displeased with the report on the other end of the call.

"We help your Tiger Claw Gang, but we don't tolerate idleness when you're needed."

Scolding the apologetic Tiger Claw members, who were undoubtedly bowing and scraping, the Arasaka staff member hung up.

"I didn't expect that street thugs would dare to attack my car while I'm here for a meeting."

The Arasaka man's annoyance didn't last long. Though the 'Villefort Alvarado' was a fine car, it wasn't valuable enough to warrant his concern.

His anger was more directed at the Tiger Claw Gang for taking the money without doing their job.

This sentiment quickly faded. Minutes later, the meeting organizer approached.

"Mr. Tanaka, the meeting is about to begin. Please proceed to the conference room within ten minutes."

"I'll be there shortly."

With that, Tanaka, already thinking about buying a new car, dismissed the incident from his mind.

Compared to worrying about the car and the Tiger Claw Gang's incompetence, Arasaka matters were far more pressing to Tanaka.
