Chapter 2: Savitar hunts you

~Derek POV~

-WHOOSH

With the moon arched over the dark sky, I stood on a grassy plain that looked over a large circular building.

I struck the wind in a stance, my fists cutting through the air as my leg soon followed in a whip-like kick.

"Not bad. I don't remember being so proficient in fighting yet it comes so naturally to me."

I spoke my mind, a satisfied smile on my face as I continued.

Despite quickly getting tired and often needing to take a break, my punches not seeming as though they carried much power as they moved quite slowly, I continued, the excitement of suddenly having a new skill overwhelming me.

"I wasn't too excited about having this skill, but I might have been too hasty."

I quickly realised I had my standards too high.

Where I expected cool metahuman powers like the Flash or Vibe, I failed to appreciate there were a few people who survived in this crazy world with just this much.

Though I wasn't quite on their level just yet, it was better than having nothing.

-THUD

I slumped onto the ground, breathing heavily, a dry sensation bombarding my mouth.

'All that fighting has gotten me pretty thirsty.'

Not that I could do anything about that.

Not only did he not recall his previous life, but as far as he knew, he didn't have one anywhere on this earth either.

No credit card, any sort of identification or money.

My pockets were empty.

All I wore was a hoodie and jeans with basic shoes.

From what I could remember, I was on my way to university before arriving in this world at an unknown time.

I could only nod at the system labelling me an Extra.

I had no presence at all in this world, making my goal of perfecting this story seem like a distant dream.

And it seemed as though the System had the same thought as a screen had been hovering in the corner of my sight for a little while.

[Quest: Become Known]

[Description: A mere Extra can never hope to have a significant role in a story, much less change it to the extent of Perfection. You must become more for your goal.]

[Failure: Termination]

[Completion: ???]

"Termination…Great."

Only now did I wonder what the System was and whose side it was on.

Nevertheless, I sighed as I turned to the other window I had been contemplating for a little while.

[Random Story Event: 20Sp (1 free use)]

From what I understood, I was currently in the world of Season 1 of The Flash.

However, the season was nearing its end, as evidenced by the news I witnessed earlier.

'Captain Cold and Heatwave appeared thrice in the first season.'

'Since I'm almost positive it hasn't been the third time yet, it's either the first or second time.'

Most likely the second.

Either way, I doubt early team Flash would even spare me a glance, enough for my Character Status to change from an Extra.

They currently only cared about Metahumans around the city after the particle accelerator explosion they caused.

That went double for the Flash since Harrison Wells, Owner and lead Scientist of Star Labs, needed the former to send him back to the future where he was from.

Well, calling him Harrison Wells was exactly correct.

Rather he was Eobard Thawne, the main villain of this season.

Disguised as the genius Harrison Wells, he was stuck in this time, desperate to go back to his home, the future.

Therefore, he teaches and trains the Flash in the hopes that he can use him to do so.

'And I'm not nearly smart enough to fake being a Scientist and hope to join the disgraced Star Labs without arousing suspicion.'

Though I didn't think the idea was completely hopeless, I'd rather not have to go through all that when I potentially had a head start right in front of him.

Therefore…

"Use free Random Event."

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

My heart was beating rapidly, not knowing what I should expect, whether or not I should have had my guard up.

Nevertheless, I kept my eyes on Star Labs.

If the event was something big, it would most likely involve Star Labs and the Flash.

I just needed something I could benefit from.

However, as the seconds passed, nothing changed.

'Did it work?'

I asked, looking around.

However, before I could ask anything more, a screen appeared before me.

[An archaeologist forms an archaeological search team with the aim of finding a hidden treasure in the Indus Valley.]

'A story?'

I thought, my confusion failing to match my curiosity as I continued to read.

[Weeks into the search, they find nothing. The archaeologist began to lose hope but before he could give up, a woman on his team told him they found something.]

'Wait a minute, is it just me, or does this story sound familiar?'

[The Archeologist was led to an underground cavern where he took the liberty as leader to open a box they had found, hoping it was the treasure they were looking for.]

I slowly widened my eyes as the story started to become more and more familiar to me.

[However, the Archeologist was met with a glowing bright light before blacking out. This was one hour ago.]

[Spontaneous Event Complete. Result...]

'That's it...that's where I know this story. But that's impossible.'

I shot to my feet, my mind racing as my heart threatened to leap out of my chest.

But the System was quick to cut him off.

[Result: The Philosopher's Stone has been discovered and a trapped foe has been set loose.]

[Savitar Hunts you]

I froze as I stared with a blank expression as if my body couldn't keep up with the thoughts and emotions running through my body.

And to make matters worse...

[New Quest Initiated!]

[Quest: Survive]

[Difficulty: S (Risks main story)]

[Description: The God of Speed hunts you. You must survive. But that isn't enough. This event risks your goal for perfection. Do not let that happen]

[Failure: Death and the ruin of this story]

[Completion: ???]

'Are...you fucking kidding me?'

I didn't know what exactly I should have been focused on.

The fact I could die at any second without even realising it or the abomination I accidentally caused.

'Alright, calm down. Let's think about this without panicking.'

I thought, racing back and forth in the same spot.

'First of all, why the fuck am I the one being hunted?'

The only reason I stood this close to Star Labs is because I thought this Event would involve the Flash.

However, where I expected something along the lines of the Flash's past villains paying him a visit after learning of his identity, I was met with this nonsense.

I've been in this world for only a few hours yet I've done something to catch the attention of someone like Savitar.

'This is really fucking bad.'

I scratched my head aggressively.

My quest stated I not only needed to survive but also somehow stop him.

Realising this, I paused as I stood still.

And in the next second...

-CRACKLE!!!

-BOOM!!!

I heard the familiar noise that sounded identical to the show's counterpart.

It was followed by the deathly silence of the night, even the wind seeming as though it avoided us.

All that filled the area was the heavy and rugged breathing that almost sounded like that of a scuba diver.

Almost afraid to look back, much to my dismay, I did.

As I did, I was met with a towering figure in shiny metallic armour, blue light escaping the crevices.

I froze. What I was feeling wasn't foreign to me, I had just never felt it to this extent.

Fear.

'Savitar, season 3 main villain of the show...'

He shouldn't have been here right now. He only arrived later in the show.

A part of me had long accepted it and was only proved right as I stared at the dominating figure before him.

'I'm…dead.'

"You..."

A powerful voice that quaked the ground, its vibration travelling through the air and inside my bones, echoed from the figure.

"Who are you?"
