Chapter 17: Two days, that's all I need!
"Who's ready for Karaoke?"
Derek, Cisco and Caitlin walked into Barry's forensics lab inside CCPD as Cisco exclaimed excitedly.
However, as they did, they paused, their footsteps slowing, instantly noticing the tense air, both Barry and Joe turning to them with stern expressions.
"We aren't here for Karaoke, are we?" Caitlin asked, putting the pieces together.
"No. I've called you here for something else. But before that…" Barry rose to his feet, turning to Derek, approaching him until they were face to face.
"Derek, because of you, Cisco and Caitlin are alive and Eddie wasn't arrested. You've gained all of our trust ten times over."
Derek knew what was coming, but stayed silent as he watched Barry bend his legs.

In an instant, Barry sped around the office, returning before Derek in the next second.
"I'm…the Flash." He revealed, a small smirk creeping onto his face.
Derek, his expression never changing, looked around, seeing everyone waiting for his reactions.
However, he simply shrugged.
"I already knew."
Silence descended as the others remained frozen like statues.
"What? It was pretty obvious. You were the only one without a solid reason for being in the team. Cisco is the tech guy, Caitlin is the Doctor and Joe brings his connection to the CCPD."
"Anything you could add was already done better by the others. Unless you had a secret talent that is."
Barry rubbed the back of his head, not knowing if he should be a little offended or not.
"Why didn't you say anything if you knew?" Joe asked from the back, surprised with wide eyes.
"It wasn't my place to know. You guys respected me enough to not peek under my mask when we first met. It was only right for me to do the same."
This was a lie.
Derek didn't care much for "the right thing". He just wanted to reap the benefits of Barry trusting him enough to reveal it.
[Your Character Status has risen.]
[Character Status: Side Character (Mid-Tier)]
[You have earned 10 Sp points]
Derek assumed a low-tier was someone like Ray who came and went, only sometimes a side character to the Flash's story.
By this logic, Mid-Tier would be a season Side Character. Like the H.R. of season three or Jay Garrick.
Joe slowly nodded in understanding as the others snapped out of their trance.
"Well, what did you call us here for?" Cisco turned to Barry, making the latter return to his previous seriousness, pointing to a board he had in the middle of the room.
"This is everything we know about the man who killed my mother, the Reverse Flash."
As he said this, he raised his hand, pulling down a thread and revealing a new page.
"And this is everything we know about Harrison Wells."
Caitlin wore a confused expression, raising an eyebrow.
"What do the two have to do with each other?"
Barry glanced at Joe for a second before answering.
"They're the same person."
Caitlin scoffed at this. A part of her thought Barry was joking, however, she continued to stare at his expression without seeing a hint of dishonesty.
"You can't be serious."
"Look, Caitlin, it took me a long time to believe it too, but it's the truth. Tina McGee said Wells was never the same after his wife died. It was like he became a different person."
"Wells is a speedster? He's paralyzed."
"Is he?" Joe intervened.
However, a moment of silence passed as all eyes turned to the quiet Cisco.
His eyes were narrowed and his skin pale as if he'd just seen a ghost, Cisco stared at the image of Wells on Barry's board.
"I've been having these dreams. Mostly at night but sometimes during the day." He started, his mouth the only thing moving as he continued to stand still.
'His Vibes.'
Derek thought, knowing what this was.
Barry wasn't the only person who he was eager to steal an ability from.
Though it would take him a while to figure it out, he was also a Metahuman.
One who could see past, present and even future. He called this ability Vibe.
He could also control the vibrations and frequencies, allowing him to do things like shoot blasts and even travel to other universes.
'It'll be useful to me later. Not to mention Killer Frost too.'
"What happens in these dreams?" Barry asked, seemingly making Cisco remember a difficult memory as he suddenly jolted his head up.
"Wells is the Reverse Flash. And he kills me."
Barry's heart leapt upon hearing this as Joe rose to his feet.
"This is ridiculous. Do you guys have even a shred of proof for your claims?" Caitlin was clearly having the hardest time believing all this.
However, a voice that had been quiet all this time spoke up before she could storm off.
"I think there's a pretty simple way to figure this out."
Everyone turned their eyes to Derek as he held out his hand, a black slime dancing on his palm.
"What do you mean?"
'I slowed down this season enough. Let's speed things up.'
"When you mentioned the accident that paralyzed him and killed his wife, I sent my slime out to search."
"That was quick," Joe commented as Derek shrugged.
"I'm getting better at controlling Eclipse. Anyway, I found something. Would you do us the honour of retrieving it, Flash?"
Barry raised his eyebrows, surprised as he let out a quick, "Sure."

In an instant, Derek found himself on a quiet road surrounded by Mother Nature.
Of course, he could witness the whole journey but pretended he couldn't.
"I think this is where it was. What did you find?" Bary asked, the both of them looking around.
However, Barry paused, lost for words as he witnessed the earth around the road completely dug up, as if a dozen people had been out here with a shovel.
"What exactly were you looking for?"
"Anything. If this didn't work, I was thinking of bringing Cisco here to see if he could…"Dream" something around here."
For once, this wasn't exactly true.
In truth, his Slime had been here for hours, trying to find what he was looking for.
"It's over here." Derek pointed, Barry following as they soon came to one of the many ditches.
And as they did, Barry furrowed his eyebrows.
"What the hell is that?"

"I've run every test I can think of. It's a perfect match." Barry spoke, in his lab once again, this time behind a computer, spinning around as he said this.
"This is Harrison Wells."
He revealed, staring at a dirty corpse with threads of cloth soiled by age and dirt. The corpse was also withered, with barely any skin left on it, its bones visible as its jaw lay wide open.
The others circled the table the corpse was on while Caitlin sat on a chair a small distance away.
"How…"
She muttered. Somehow that single word had a dozen different meanings.
It was one they all also wondered.
"He killed my mother. I need to stop him."
"Calm down, Barry. You almost died when you fought him." Joe grabbed Barry's shoulder, just in case the latter tried to speed off.
"No, I won't fight him. We still need him to confess to my mother's murder. For my dad."
It was at that moment that Barry turned to Cisco. It seemed as though Cisco had the same thought as the two locked eyes.
'Now they will plan to recreate Cisco's dream, only this time to get an admission out of Thawne.'
Derek stood to the side, quiet.
'But it doesn't work. Not only because Thawne has planted cameras in STAR Labs, their homes and this office, thereby knowing everything, but also because he uses Hannibal Bates as…well, bait.'
But it was worse now. Because of him, Thawne was planning something else, changing the course of the story.
Their main objective shouldn't have been getting an admission, since Thawne willingly gives that to Barry in the form of a recording.
Instead, they should have been doing everything in their power to put down Thawne.
'My knowledge. It's my most valuable weapon because I'm weak. I don't have the luxury to change things as I please.'
He needed to know everything so he knew where he was safe and where he wasn't.
But after a few days, that would no longer be the case.
Until then, he couldn't interfere.
'I just need a few days. I need more power. Then I'll be able to guarantee this story's path even without my knowledge.'
Therefore, he let them make their plans, listening silently.
He watched things happen like they should.
They planned to use a power field they created earlier in the season that didn't let Speedsters pass to protect Cisco from Thawne while he baited Thawne for the confession.
"Then that'll be it. That's how we get our confession. How long will it take?" Barry asked, causing Cisco to think for a few seconds.
"I'll need about two days."
'That's perfect. I have two days to do what I need. I won't let them go through with this plan.'
"Then it's settled. In two days, we'll reveal his secret. In two days, we'll free my dad."
***
"A farm. That's what I need."
Derek muttered in his Lab.
"A farm I can cultivate those with abilities I want to steal."
He thought for a second as to where he would find this. However, he couldn't think of a better one he's had for days.
'Oliver should be fighting Ra's Al Ghul in Starling City, right? There Ra's dies, leaving his throne in the League of Shadows empty.'
Derek's lips slowly curled upwards as he slammed his hand on the metal table with a BANG.
'In two days, I'll have my improved Mirakuru. In two days, I'll have a crown.'
His heart sped up as his hands started to shake. He knew this feeling. He recognized it. It was the same one he felt when he bested Savitar.
He couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly it was. But he didn't reject it.
'In two days…I'll be powerful.'
***
"Hannibal Bates."
A man with pale white skin and all-white eyes rose to his feet as he regained his bearings after regaining consciousness.
"Don't be too startled. It's too early for that."
Bates turned his head, ignoring the see-through prison-like cage he was in. Instead, he stared at a smiling Thawne on his feet.
"How would you like a chance at freedom…"
"Are you Eobard Thawne?"
Thawne froze, his smile faltering as he glared at Bates who had suddenly spoken.
The pale man had no emotion on his face like he was dead inside.
"How do you know that?" Thawne asked, his tone suddenly dropping as he bent his legs just in case.
"He told me to tell you…that you're ten steps behind…"
"Who…" However, Thawne abruptly paused, answering his own question.
But Bates still answered the question, his voice breaking as if he were staring at death itself.
"T-The Psychopath…KHRM!"
Bates suddenly gripped his chest, trying his best to gasp for breath but was unsuccessful.
In the next second, he dropped to his knees, then to his side with a THUD.
"That boy…he made it look like a heart attack."
Thawne's face darkened as he ignored the death he had just witnessed.
Instead, he stood there for a few seconds before raising his head, revealing a bitter smile with veins bulging on his neck, his teeth tightened so hard they chipped and his eyes crackling with red lightning.
'There was only one other person he had ever hated as much as this. And he regretted every day not being able to satiate his rage.
But not this time.
"I'll kill him!"
