Crazy Shinobi: Rise of the uzumaki Clan

Chapter 23: Chapter 19: The Price of Power

Madara's POV

The Uchiha compound was silent, a grim reflection of the atmosphere within. My clanmates avoided my gaze as I walked through the halls, Izuna's body wrapped in white cloth and cradled in my arms. Their expressions were a mixture of grief and despair, but none dared speak to me.

They knew. They all knew.

I entered the main chamber of our home, laying Izuna's still body on a raised platform. My hands trembled as I adjusted the cloth over his face, concealing the lifeless features that had once been so full of life and determination.

The room was suffocating. The weight of his loss pressed down on me, threatening to crush me beneath its unbearable force. For years, Izuna had been my anchor, my equal, my other half. And now, he was gone.

I sat beside him, my hands clenched into fists, my vision blurring—not from tears, but from something far worse.

The throbbing in my eyes had worsened over the years. The Mangekyo Sharingan, the source of my power and my curse, had taken its toll. I could feel it every time I activated it, the strain worsening with each battle, each desperate clash.

Now, even without activating the Mangekyo, my sight was fading. The world around me was losing its sharpness, the edges softening into a hazy blur.

It had started years ago, after our first major skirmishes with the Senju. At first, it was subtle—flickering shadows at the edges of my vision, moments of disorientation. But as the battles continued, as I relied more and more on the Mangekyo to protect my clan, the damage became undeniable.

And now, as I sat here, staring at Izuna's lifeless form, the realization struck me like a blade to the chest.

I was going blind.

I closed my eyes, my hands gripping the edge of the platform as a surge of frustration and despair threatened to overwhelm me. How could I protect my clan like this? How could I lead them if I couldn't even see the battlefield?

The Mangekyo had given me strength, yes, but at what cost? It had taken from me what I needed most—my sight, my ability to protect what mattered.

I opened my eyes again, forcing myself to focus on Izuna. His sacrifice couldn't be in vain. I wouldn't let it be.

"Brother," I whispered, my voice hoarse. "You always believed in me. You stood by me through everything, even when I faltered. I won't let your death be meaningless."

As I spoke, a memory surfaced—an old tale passed down through the Uchiha clan. A way to overcome the blindness brought on by the Mangekyo Sharingan.

The Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

The legend spoke of merging the eyes of two siblings, two wielders of the Mangekyo, to create a new power—a Sharingan that would never lose its light. It was a forbidden technique, shrouded in mystery and fear, but I had no choice.

If I was to protect the Uchiha, if I was to honor Izuna's memory, I needed that power.

I looked at Izuna's face, the cloth still covering him. My heart ached at the thought of what I was about to do, but I couldn't allow myself to hesitate. This wasn't just about me—it was about the future of our clan.

"Izuna," I said softly, reaching out to touch his hand. "You've always been a part of me, and now, you always will be. I'll carry you with me, not just in memory, but in strength. Through me, you'll continue to live."

The decision was made.

I called for the clan's medics, their expressions wary as they entered the room. They knew better than to question me, though I could see the unease in their eyes when I told them what I needed.

"Prepare for the procedure," I said, my voice cold and commanding. "We're transplanting Izuna's eyes to me."

One of them hesitated. "Madara-sama, are you sure? The risks—"

"I'm sure," I interrupted, my tone sharp. "Do it."

They nodded, their reluctance clear, but I didn't care. This was the only way forward.

As they began their preparations, I sat beside Izuna one last time, my hand resting on his.

"Rest now, brother," I murmured. "I'll carry your will. Your sacrifice won't be in vain. Together, we'll lead the Uchiha to victory. Together, we'll reshape this world."

And as the medics prepared to take his eyes, I steeled myself for what was to come.

For the Uchiha, for Izuna, for the dream we once shared—I would endure anything.
