Chapter 3: "Chapter 3: First Night, New World"
I followed Luka into his house, but my brain was completely out of service, fried from overthinking. Of all the eroge games I'd played, why did it have to be Monster Girl Quest? I mean, seriously? But dwelling on it wouldn't help. I needed to figure out which timeline this was—the original Monster Girl Quest or its sequel, Paradox. If it was the first, maybe I could survive. If it was the latter, well... I'm screwed. But how was I supposed to tell? I never finished playing Paradox; I only knew bits and pieces from random info. Anyway, I had to start somewhere.
"Ryuu, make yourself at home. Stay as long as you want, and pick any room you like," Luka said cheerfully. "I live alone—my parents passed away."
"Sorry to hear that," I offered.
"Nah, it's okay. I've been through worse," Luka said with a dismissive shrug.
Now that I took a better look inside his house, it was simple, like something straight out of the Middle Ages. Adapting would take time, but it was manageable—wait, what?
"I can stay as long as I want?" I asked skeptically.
"Yup," he nodded.
"Why are you being so nice to me? I mean, this is the first time we've met. What if I'm some kind of criminal?"
"Well, my mom always said to help those in need, and I don't have anything worth stealing anyway. Besides, I don't think you're a bad guy."
This... wow. Exactly what you'd expect from a protagonist.
"The human heart is really hard to understand, Luka. This kindness and naivety might get you killed one day," I muttered.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Luka tilted his head, confused.
"Never mind," I waved it off. "Can I ask you a few questions? I already told you I lost my memory, so I need some basic info."
"Sure! I'll gladly answer," Luka beamed.
Hoooooooof. Here we go.
"Can you tell me everything about this world? I kinda forgot all common sense here," I asked.
"Hmm, I'll try my best," Luka said, taking a deep breath.
What followed was two excruciating hours of listening to him praise the goddess Ilias—how she created the world and blessed humanity. I felt like my brain had been wrung out like a wet towel. And yet, I still didn't know which timeline this was. Ugh, whatever—leave it to luck. My head was spinning, and I desperately wanted sleep.
One last question, though. If I remembered correctly, the story began when Luka received his baptism, and I thought he said earlier it was scheduled for next year.
"Luka, one last question."
"Yes?" Luka looked at me with wide eyes, as if silently pleading, Why did you interrupt my sermon on Ilias?
"You said you're getting your baptism next year, right?"
"Yep! After that, I'll go on a quest to defeat the Monster Lord," he declared proudly.
Defeat the Monster Lord? Oh yeah, sure— the game was like spend hundreds of hours getting "defeated" by monster girls only to marry one at the end. Classic.
"I see... next year, huh?" I mused.
"Wait!" Luka gasped, eyes wide. "You want a baptism too?!"
A baptism from that goddess? Oh, hell no.
"Ehhh, no. Isn't it only for people coming of age? I'm already 20, so I can't get one."
"Don't worry! Ilias descends every year to bless people. I'm sure she'll bless you—she's the kindest goddess, after all."
"I... uh... Nah, sorry, Luka. I'm not cut out to be a hero like you."
"Oh, that's a pity," Luka said, briefly looking sad before bouncing back to his usual self. "Well, I'm tired from training today. I'll be in my room. You can sleep in the guest room. Good night, Ryuu."
"Thanks for everything, Luka. Good night."
After he left, I was alone in the guest room. The candles were already burning low, and darkness was creeping in. I needed to go over everything that happened today and plan for the future.
First, I woke up in a forest after getting kicked out by the system. Then an erotic slime appeared and nearly raped me, but I managed to escape. After that, I met some adventurers—or rather, heroes—heading to this village, and they let me tag along. I didn't have a proper place to sleep or much food until Luka, the protagonist, took me in. Now I was sure this was the world of Monster Girl Quest, but I still couldn't tell which timeline. Oh well, leave it to luck.
"I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky. I always dreamed of this, but now living the dream is... different. I'm happy, sure, but also scared of what's coming."
Staring at the ceiling, I wondered what to do next. Live a slow life and marry a monster girl? Nah, sounds boring. Should I join Luka on his quest? Maybe. Or go on my own journey? But I'm weak right now—Luka had plot armor and endless encounters to make him stronger. Me? I'm just a modern guy who lived a peaceful life.
"What should I do? Living the dream is harder than dreaming it."
Noticing the candle almost out, I hurried to arrange my thoughts.
"Now, about the powers I chose..."
First, a Noble Phantasm from Fate/Grand Order. I picked it because, come on—it's cool! And it would be even better if it were a Reality Marble. Imagine chanting some cool words and boom creating a whole world. Since I have a Noble Phantasm now—though I don't know which one—I need to figure out how to use it. The system said it planted the seed inside me, so that must mean I can use magic now, right? Yeah, I should start by figuring out how to tap into magic; maybe then I'll be able to unleash my Noble Phantasm.
Second, a Longinus from High School DxD. Welp, to be honest, I hope it turns out to be the Boosted Gear or Divine Dividing. As long as I can achieve Balance Breaker, I'll get some badass armor. Plus, if the souls of the Heavenly Dragons are inside, even better! I don't know how long my journey will last—maybe thousands of years—and it will feel lonely, so having a partner accompany me would be great. I don't know how to earn their approval, but I'll try my best. And if it turns out to be another Longinus, that's fine too. I remember there are 13 Longinus in the DxD world, and all of them have some buggy abilities.
Lastly, a Stand from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Stands are ridiculously buggy, and I have no idea how to awaken mine. In JoJo, they stab themselves with an arrow, but there's no arrow here. And even if I found one, stabbing myself sounds... unpleasant.
"The classic protagonist power-up method ahh : rage or risking your life. Ugh, I really hate pain."
Forget the Longinus and the Stand for now—magic was probably the easiest to start with. As long as I understood and learned it, it should be easy, I guess.
"Oh, system, why did my first world have to be an erotic one?" Ryuu sounded really depressed right now.
Want to know why I'm depressed? Okay, I'll tell you. In this world, monsters don't fight ethically. They use pleasure attacks. Handjobs, blowjobs, tentacles, titjobs—you name it. If you cum, you're done for. Some monster girls take you as their mate; others squeeze you to death or even straight-up eat you. And I don't mean figuratively—I mean digest you. There are too many dumb ways to die here just because you came.
"...Maybe it won't work on me. I have a below-average pp, after all."
Nope, wait—size doesn't matter to them. They can adjust their insides to fit anything, and they only care about semen taste. Even ugly guys aren't safe.
"...I think I need to work on my endurance. If I don't cum, I can survive."
Looking down at my slightly big belly, I made my decision.
"First step: lose weight and build muscle. Then train magic."
"Ohhhh, it's decided—tomorrow I'll start with 100 push-ups. Yes, I'll do Saitama-sensei training from One Punch Man."
After that, I'd figure out how to make money.
As I was planning, the room went dark—the candle had burned out.
"Guess I'll sleep now. Good night, me."
