Brother Jenner

Chapter 16: Chapter 37-38-39

Chapter 37

The atmosphere is light and relaxed during a family lunch at Kris Jenner's house, where Scott, Scarlett and Rose are gathered with the Kardashian sisters. Laughter and conversation flow as the dishes are served, but the mood changes when Scott receives an unexpected summons.

He is summoned to Washington for a meeting with senior members of the CIA, the Army, the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and the Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

The nature of the meeting is serious, especially after the recent leak of information about a covert operation in Libya that Scott had commanded.

Scott gets up from the table, and the family watches as he prepares to leave. He heads to his room to get dressed, and Scarlett takes the opportunity to ask him questions about the meeting.

"You'll do fine, right? You always do," Scarlett says, a hint of concern in her voice.

Scott gives her a reassuring smile. "It's just a meeting, Scar. I'll handle it. You know this kind of situation is not new to me."

As he changes, the conversation at the table continues. When Scott finally returns, dressed in his military uniform, the room changes. His shoulder pads highlight his Captain rank and his shiny medals hang proudly on his chest.

Scott's imposing presence is evident, and the family falls momentarily silent, admiring him. Kylie is the first to break the silence, winking at Khloe.

"Wow, look at him! He looks like he stepped straight out of an action movie."

Kris looks on with a smile. "I'm so proud of my son. That's what a real hero looks like."

But Khloe, always the playful one, doesn't miss the opportunity to tease. "Scarlett, aren't you a little horny seeing him like this? Look at that uniform, those medals… he's a real package deal!"

The table erupts in laughter, and Scarlett, who was about to take a sip of water, almost chokes. Her cheeks turn red as she tries to hide a shy smile.

"You guys are insufferable!" she replies, laughing nervously.

Kendall joins in the fun, shaking her head. "Can't blame him, right? He really does look like a captain from a war movie."

"If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time, Scarlett. Opportunities like this don't come around every day!" Kim adds, winking at her friend.

Scott, noticing the attention and the joke, can't help but smile. "Hey, I'm just going to a serious meeting, not a party!" he says, trying to look serious, but the amusement on his family's faces makes it impossible.

Scarlett recovers from her shyness and approaches him, looking into Scott's eyes. "I just want you to come back safely. I'll be rooting for you."

Scott lightly touches her arm, a gesture that conveys his confidence and affection. "I'll be back soon. Don't worry."

The sisters continue to joke around as he says goodbye, but the seriousness of the situation is not forgotten. Scott leaves his house, feeling the weight of his uniform and the anticipation of the meeting in Washington.

Knowing that the discussions will focus on the leaks and how they will affect his team and the security of future operations, he feels a mix of nervousness and determination.

As he drives to Washington, Scott's thoughts fluctuate between the lightheartedness of a family meal and the seriousness of the situation that awaits him. He carries not only his medals, but also the responsibility of protecting his teammates and ensuring that sensitive information does not fall into the wrong hands.

Chapter 38

Scott arrives at the Pentagon with a mixture of apprehension and determination. He parks his car and looks at the imposing structure of the building, a symbol of power and responsibility.

As he steps out of the vehicle, he takes a deep breath, adjusts his uniform and heads towards the entrance, where the security guards immediately recognize him and let him pass.

The corridors of the Pentagon are busy, filled with officers and civilians walking quickly, each with a clear purpose. Scott feels like a stranger in this world, even though he has been part of it for years.

He is guided to a meeting room, where members of the CIA, the Army, JSOC and SOCOM are already gathered. The expressions on everyone's faces indicate that the atmosphere is tense.

As soon as he enters, Scott is greeted with respectful nods, but there are no warm words. He takes his place at the table, observing the familiar faces and some new ones. The head of the meeting, a four-star general, begins to speak in a serious tone.

"Captain Jenner," the general says, folding his hands on the table. "Thank you for coming. We know that the recent leak about the Libya operation has caused great concern."

Scott straightens, ready to defend himself. "Yes, sir. I was aware that the mission was classified, but I did what had to be done to protect our interests."

"We understand," the general replies. "However, we are here to discuss the possibility of a trial. The leak is not only a matter of national security; it puts everyone involved at risk, including your teams and the integrity of future operations."

The general's words echo in the room, and Scott feels a chill run down his spine. He knew that the responsibility of commanding a clandestine operation carried risks, but he never thought he would be held accountable in such a way.

"With all due respect, sir," Scott replies, maintaining his composure, "I followed protocol and worked within the guidelines given to us. The operation was successful, and our objectives were achieved."

"That's true," a CIA officer interjects, "but it still doesn't take away from the fact that sensitive information was exposed. We need to make sure nothing like this happens again."

The tension in the room rises as the discussion intensifies. Scott watches the expressions of the other officers; some are on his side, others are clearly questioning his leadership. He realizes that the situation is about to get much more complicated.

"What are you suggesting?" an Army officer asks, his gaze fixed on Scott. "There must be consequences to protect the integrity of Delta Force operations."

The atmosphere grows heavy.

Scott knows that the situation is beyond his control and that his words will be carefully considered. "If there is anything I can do to correct this situation, I am willing to cooperate. But a trial… that would jeopardize the trust we have built over the years."

The general shakes his head, seeming to consider the situation. "We understand your concerns, but this is not your decision alone. We need to discuss next steps and how we will handle the situation."

The discussions continue, and Scott feels as if he is in a trial chamber, every word weighed and measured. He struggles to remain calm, knowing that his career and the safety of his team are at stake.

As the meeting progresses, Scott wonders if he can get out of this situation without a trial, and if his reputation, built over years of service, can withstand the impact of the leak.

What was supposed to be a return to civilian life now turns into a battle for truth and justice. He can only hope that his superiors see the value of his experience and dedication, and that the operation will not define his career or his legacy.

Chapter 39

The Pentagon meeting stretches on for hours, and the tension in the room turns into a strategic chess game, where every move can have significant consequences.

Scott scans the faces of the officers around him, each representing a faction of the government, all with their own agendas and priorities. The general, who is leading the meeting, takes notes as he listens intently to each argument presented.

"We need to establish a line of accountability," a colonel declares, adjusting his glasses as he speaks. "If we don't, we send a dangerous message to our allies and adversaries. We need to show that we will not tolerate mistakes."

Scott feels the weight of his words. The thought of a trial is a sword of Damocles hanging over his head. He knows that military policy is often not a question of right or wrong, but of image and reputation.

"With all due respect," Scott interjects again, keeping his voice firm, "punishment will not solve the security issues we face. We need to focus on how to prevent leaks like this from happening again. Protecting the integrity of Delta Force and confidence in our operations must be our top priority."

The officers' eyes turn to him, some with respect, others with suspicion. The general gestures for Scott to continue. "What do you suggest?"

"A reassessment and training program for all those involved in clandestine operations," Scott suggests. "We need to reinforce the importance of secrecy and information security. In addition, we must work to identify and correct flaws in the processes that led to this leak."

The CIA officer who had intervened earlier raises his hand. "And if that's not enough? What will you do then, Captain? We may need to consider a trial as an example."

Scott feels the pressure mounting. "If the goal is national security, then a trial only destabilizes our team and creates distrust. We need to come together as a cohesive force, not as individuals to be punished. My leadership and experience are here to ensure that this type of failure does not happen again."

The general watches Scott with a contemplative expression. "Your passion is admirable, Captain, but we need to consider all options." He leans forward, his hands resting on the table. "The political implications of this leak are enormous. We cannot afford to appear weak."

The discussions continue, and Scott feels as if he is on a mental battlefield, fighting to protect his team and his legacy. With every word, he tries to reaffirm his position, to show that he is still a capable leader, even outside of Delta Force.

He knows that how the situation is handled now will have a lasting impact on his life and the lives of those who served under him.

Finally, after more debate, the general slams his hand on the table, signaling that it is time to make a decision.

"Here's what we're going to do. We'll launch an internal investigation into the leak and review security protocols. However, we'll do so in a way that protects the identities of those involved in the operations."

The faces around the table relax slightly, but Scott can tell there's still skepticism. "As for the trial, that decision will be discussed in another meeting," the general adds. "What I can promise is that your concerns will be taken into consideration."

Scott feels a slight sense of relief, but the battle isn't over yet. He knows that even though he's managed to avoid an immediate trial, the shadow of the leak still looms over him.

He says goodbye to the meeting, leaving the room with a weight on his chest but also a renewed sense of determination. As he leaves the Pentagon, he's greeted by officers and staff who know him, but he's focused on one thing: returning to his family and Scarlett.

He knows he'll need support, and the last thing he wants is to drag those he loves into yet another turmoil caused by his past life. When he gets home, he finds Scarlett and Rose waiting for him.

They look at him with concern in their eyes. Scott takes a deep breath, knowing that now is the time to open up.

"Hi, girls," he says, forcing a smile. "How are you?"

"We're worried about you," Scarlett answers, moving closer. "What happened?"

Scott hesitates for a moment, but Scarlett's strength inspires him. "We had a meeting at the Pentagon. About the leak in Libya." He quickly explains the situation, omitting the heavier details of what could happen.

"And what are you going to do now?" Rose asks, her eyes curious but serious.

"I'm going to focus on how to make sure this doesn't happen again," Scott answers, looking into Scarlett's eyes. "And I hope you and Rose are there for me."

Scarlett comes closer and wraps her arms around him, offering comfort. "We're with you always."

Scott feels stronger with their support. He knows the fight may be far from over, but right now, with his family by his side, he feels like he can face whatever challenges lie ahead.
