Chapter 1214: The Origins Of Druidic Magic

-----

"Are Druids the origin of every school of magic out there or what?" wondered Anna. "Ah, my concept is Beasts! It's a… normal and common one."

That was actually a really good Nature Concept, and it went really well with her Summoning Magic Circle and her Summoner Magic as well!

It might be able to strengthen her Summons really well.

"Oh, well done though, Anna!" I nodded. "And yeah! I was also wondering the same, Jannis."

"Hmm, well, across the entire world, Druidic Magic might as well be one of the most ancient schools of magic, going back to the prehistoric ages when magic had yet to even be polished into proper forms and shapes! Indeed, in a way, the reason why there were so many varieties of Druidic Circles was because they are the root of what modern magic is known for at modern ages.

The Ancient Magician Families of Europe, their ancestors go all the back to prehistory, cavemen that created druidic rituals to call upon Primal Spirits!"

"Really?! This is so cool!" I said.

So Magic has been existing since such ancient times? I can hardly believe it! Then it is true that Magic has been an element of the world from prehistory, perhaps even before humans were born.

Does this mean that before humans, what did exist? The dinosaurs and other creatures? Magical beings that used magic in other ways?

Perhaps the very density of the planet's atmosphere was different as well due to the immense amount of Mana there was!

But somehow, it slowly went down a lot, it has only recovered slightly thanks to the First Contact, and apparently according to SWORD, it is going up over time.

"Please tell us more, we'll love to hear about it!"

I decided to ask more things while we were at it, nothing wrong with it right?

"Hoh, happily, goddess!" she said. "You see, Druid Magic might seem so easy and simple because it is! To commute with nature and call upon their help to use magic is a prehistoric and primal way of conjuring magic that people in prehistoric times could do as there weren't any modern things that would cloud their minds and belief."

"Huh, does this means that magic existed even before humans?" wondered Elena.

"I was wondering the same," said Mark.

"Yes, it existed! Ancient Myths and Legends created by Primal Spirits that then were passed down to the Prehistoric Druidic Tribes have always said that the world even before humans was a wild one," said Jannis. "It was the Era of Gods, which extended even after humans emerged, and continued for several thousands of years."

"Oh wow…" Anna muttered. "Just how much history have the government hid from us? The existence of magic, the Era of Gods… And all of this, it's insane."

"Yeah…" Elena nodded. "I feel a bit dizzy by just hearing all of this, honestly."

"Me too!" Elisa nodded. "Quite insane…"

"Anyways, listen well, as magic progressed, thanks to the help of the Primal Spirits, Humanity learned how to properly wield magic. In ancient times, magic was much more widespread, and known as a fact, before it slowly recessed as the Era of Gods came to an end." Jannis said.

"When did the Era of Gods exactly came to an end?" wondered Mark.

"Perhaps when the Monotheistic Abrahamic Religions began to become widespread, Christianity and so on," said Judith. "It is when the entire Faith of Humanity started to gather elsewhere, on a single Plane, which absorbed Realms and then became Heaven, or so we believe."

"In the past, according to Primal Spirits, the atmosphere of this world was much thicker and full of mana," said Rudras. "Perhaps the reason why beings were so immense and large wasn't just due to proven scientific facts, but also because of the Mana in the air making everything gigantic."

"R-Really?" wondered Mark. "Incredible… But what happened? Why did magic just disappeared and became rarer over time?"

"Hmm, from what I've learned from ancient myths and legends, the Era of Gods was the factor that rapidly drained the Mana of the environment," said Jannis. "You see, back then, it was said that the atmosphere of our planet was so dense and magical that it was as if the entire world was a Magical Realm! Or a gigantic Domain!"

"T-That dense? So everything was magical…" I said. "I guess Spirits must have been the oldest intelligent beings then?"

"There might have been other demi-human or non-human races back then," said Rudras. "But we have little idea about them…"

"Though, we've heard from Grandpa Jose that he once talked about the Lizards and the Spiders, simple names given to these ancient tribes of intelligent, magical beings that prehistoric druids fought against," said Judith. "But that's about it… It's all a mystery, this world is truly big."

"But how did the Era of Gods drain the Mana?" asked Elisa.

"That's easy to guess," said Rudras. "Gods are beings born from humanity's faith and also from magical energies in the environment, or so we believe… therefore, as humanity was born and their Faith controlled the latent Mana within their bodies, Gods were born, absorbing the Mana of the world. There were many religions, many myths, heroes, and legends, countless Gods were born in every culture.

Whole pantheons that governed as their believers thought they would."

"So the Mana was drained by the Gods?" I gasped.

"A part of it was their fault, yeah," Jannis nodded. "It doesn't mean they did everything, they created Realms and Domains of their Divinities, further expanding and keeping Mana within pockets of space, so the world became somewhat a bit safer from the gigantic magical beasts roaming everywhere. Therefore, from our own believe, Humanity was able to prosper and progress as the Gods protected us."

"However, that only lasted so long… Magic was deemed as too dangerous by Ancient Kings, and it became rarer because of this." Jannis said, as she looked at us with a smile. "Mana became a forbidden thing only a few selected families could wield!"
