Chapter 9: Evaluation
Yves saw the massive metal doors and was in complete shock to see how large the building was. He started touching the stone, feeling how rough and soft it was. The rough parts were expected as the building looked old; however, the soft parts in the block of stone were something very pleasant for Yves.
"Why are you touching the stone so sensually?" Fabio asked Eves while waiting for him to enter the doors.
Yves looked at Fabio and, without saying a word, walked and entered the building; the lights shone brightly, and the sweet smell of honeyvine milkweed. A smell of a blend of sweet vanilla and the fresh aromatics of plants.
Yves loved the smell; it was a very beautiful smell but not very in your nose. It fits all the standards to make Yves love the smell. Throughout his entire time in the forest, he never smelled such a beautiful aroma.
"What is this beautiful smell?"
"That is the honeyvine milkweed. It is a smell native to here, so it is easy to create an aroma, Leia responded to Yves' question.
Yves continued walking and started inspecting the first floor.
The first floor is deep white-colored. The more he walked, the more it appeared to be a training facility. Three people in front asked to see verification to enter this place.
Yves continued walking and saw a group of people sparring, their abilities were very simple, but it was very unique for Yves.
Yves went up a set of stairs beside the people fighting where he saw the second floor.
The smell was the same as the first floor, but compared to the first floor, it appeared to be that of a library; however, Yves could only see it for a little as he was going to the eighth floor.
He continued going up, only seeing the floors and inferring about what they were about.
The third and fifth floors looked like a learning zone; the sixth floor appeared to be a relaxing zone as it had bags; the seventh floor appeared to be closed, so Yves couldn't infer what it was about.
Yves reached the eighth floor and saw a very simple entrance; he entered and felt a strong pull from one of the doors.
Yves cautiously followed Leia; he looked back and saw Fabio walking as if there was nothing wrong with this floor.
Knock, Knock, Knock
Leia knocked, and in less than a minute, an old woman wearing a dark purple dress appeared at the door.
"Hello, we are here for your evaluation of Yves's power."
"Oh yes, and I presume that that young man behind you is Yves, as your brother is beside him."
"Correct, I will now be leaving; you can call me when the evaluation is over."
The old woman nodded, and Leia left. Fabio was confused about what to do, so he decided to stay, as he hated his first class and wanted an excuse to skip.
Yves and Fabio entered the room; they saw that there was a large cauldron with many different glass bottles sitting beside a long wooden table. In the center, there was a square for Yves to stand.
Fabio grabbed a chair and sat a few steps away from Yves so as not to disturb anything.
Yves stood in the square, and the old woman went to the cauldron and began asking Yves questions.
"Close your eyes and respond to these questions while trying to access your abilities."
Yves closed his eyes relaxed his body and tried to activate his powers.
"What type of abilities do you have access to right now?"
"Right now I can't access anything, but I can create a spear."
"Very well then, what color do you associate with your mythological being?"
Yves concentrated, and there was only one color that was in his mind.
"A dark blue color, a blue so pure but so dark that I can't explain."
The old woman looked puzzled at Yves and grabbed a dark blue color and added it to the cauldron.
"Next question. What do you think your role would be with the powers you have right now.?"
"I think in the front line as I created an attack weapon."
The old woman grabbed a black-colored potion and added it.
"Very well, can you make a mental image of your mythological creature?"
"I will try." Yves begins picturing how Ink looks, but all he creates is the image of the version he saw.
The square changed color to a deep blue.
The old woman began opening different bottles, which emitted such fragrant notes it made Yves dizzy. The odors of honey, mint, lavender, eucalyptus, and more floral smells engulfed the entire room.
"What do you feel about this odor? Tell me what your emotions are."
The world felt dizzy for Yves, for every word she spoke felt so long that it made Yves very tired.
"I feel relaxed and tired, with a little bit of anger, sadness, and happiness. It is all just a combination of hundreds of emotions." Yves is on the verge of passing out.
Boom
The cauldron sucked up all the odors, creating a small explosion in the cauldron.
The old woman began mixing and separating the potions into six different glass bottles.
On each glass bottle, she added extra ingredients except for one.
She separated them into two different sections.
"You can open your eyes."
Yves opened his eyes and was surprised to see that there were six potions and their only difference was the very small color change that someone passing by would not notice.
"You will try these three potions and see which potion reacts to your body. This will measure your current strength while the other three options are how much more work you need to do to advance into another rank."
Yved grabbed the closest potion that was a tad lighter than the other two. This was to test his current strength.
No effect, Yved drank it, and it had no effect; he drank the other one, which was a tad bit darker, and there was again no effect. Yves was confused, but he continued to drink the next potion.
Gulp, gulp, gulp.
Yves felt a sweet, warm feeling in his chest. His whole mood changed, leading the old woman to take notice.
"I felt warm. What does that mean?"
"Don't be too discouraged, but since you felt warm, you are likely a low D-rank. Now drink the other three."
Yved looked so disappointed, but he was determined, as this might be the chance where they all get surprised and see how extremely powerful he is. His imagination started running wild; he began imagining making news across the town and then having himself an entire harem just from him.
Fabio noticed the grin and facepalmed.
Yves drank two potions, but there were again no effects. Yves saw how this potion was lighter than the rest, and seeing the surprised expression of both Fabio and the old woman, Yves thought that he hit the jackpot.
He finished drinking the potion and felt a hard sensation in his chest.
Yves's face was trying its best to not grin; he was fully sure that he was an extremely overpowered person. This idea became stronger after seeing Fabio's and the old woman's dumbfounded looks.
"Wow, Yves, in my three years and hundreds of times, I have never seen someone like you." The old woman put her hands on her mouth.
Yves is dying from trying to hold his smiling face.
"I mean, you are by far the weakest person I have ever seen."
"..."
"You are almost like a normal human; if it weren't for that spear, no one could have believed that you were supernatural."
Yves stared blankly; his soul left his body.
