Chapter 105: What!??
Waking up in the morning, Hyoma saw it was 9 pm.
'Happy birthday to me...'
But all those thoughts were immediately cancelled out with the discovery he made yesterday. Quickly getting up, he made his way to the array of doors and began to investigate them one by one. Strangely, only one was unlocked unlike yesterday.
'Oh... Oh!'
The door which led to the messy room was still unlocked, and the room was still in the same state he had left it in yesterday, however the room where the mysterious boy was sleeping in was now locked.
'Did he forget to lock the door last night? Is he still in there?'
He tried to look through the keyhole to see anything inside, but it seemed to be blocked by something.
'Well, whatever.'
He suddenly remembered that today he would have to decide. Hyoma somewhat understood that he could now see the supernatural, but he still didn't understand the things that he saw. Some were obvious, like the drunk office worker from the other day.
He was a ghost, or rather a spirit.
But then there were the burnings. If they were spiritual in nature, then that means his father, and likely his big brother were able to see them too. They must've known about them for a long time, perhaps even the day since they started.
And yet, they had done nothing.
No.. that was wrong, they know they're happening but even they don't know why. The both of them are still trying to figure it out, but they're coming up on dead ends. Anyway, he was getting too deep into all of this. He slapped himself on both of his cheeks, snapping out from that trance.
'Today is my birthday! I'm going to enjoy it, and no spirit nonsense is gonna stop me!'
After all, he had already decided he would not take his fathers offer. Even if the spiritual stuff was real, it wouldn't just be his fathers fault, but the spiritual worlds fault for what happened on that dreadful day.
**
Around 2 hours had passed, and the sun was still hanging high in the sky. Hyoma was waiting on a city block, dressed in an unbuttoned short sleaved shirt with green cargo pants.
Not long after he arrived there thankfully, Ai seemed to arrive next. Surprisingly she wasn't wearing her glasses, and instead her hair was no longer tied in braids. She was wearing a yellow summer dress, with a red hang bag. She was Waving towards him extatically from amongst the crowd, while he just sighed.
'I can see you...'
Eventually the two finally met up, and for a moment, Hyoma was very surprised. Now that she wasn't wearing her glasses, he could see both of her ruby eyes in high detail. They were very glassy, much like a fine cut gem, and they seemed to reflect the sun in an almost endless prism.
For a brief moment, he was lost in those eyes, and then his heart suddenly skipped a beat.
'What?'
He turned around, quickly hiding his embarrassment as his cheeks turned pink.
'What????'
"Is something wrong?"
It was strange. He had never felt this way towards anyone before. He didn't even think he could feel this way, especially towards Ai of all people.
She was a nerd at heart, and even then she looked average at best.
Hyoma turned around once again, but just catching a glimpse of Ai in the corner of his eye was enough to make him squeal.
'Oh no, oh nooo, OH NO! WHY!'
"What are you doing??"
Thankfully before the situation could get any worse, Arima appeared from around the corner. He was wearing an orange jumper inside of a red puffer jacket, with matching red cargo pants and white trainers.
"Hey!"
Quickly steadying his heart, Hyoma greeted his friend along with Ai.
"So, lets go karaoke?"
"Are you stupid? Karaoke is a night activity! It's 11 in the morning!"
Arima pouted as he crossed his arms.
"Okay! What do you suggest we do, little miss party planner?"
"Little? Your shorter than me! Anyhow, we can just spend the whole day shopping."
The two then looked at Hyoma with a greedy expression. Well it was obvious who was going to pay for this shopping trip, he was the richest of them all, and by a sizeable gap too.
"Wait a minute.. I thought this was meant to be my birthday???"
**
Throughout the whole day, the three friends enjoyed all kinds of luxuries. From shopping around the city, to eating albeit light, delicious food and just fooling around in the park. Heck, they even took a train to the beach and back just to stay there for an hour or two.
As they had their fun, they came upon something truly strange.
Arima needed to squint his eyes, and then rub them once again to check if he was seeing things right. Then he grunted in confusion as he poked Hyoma in the arm.
"What? The cinema is that way?"
"No, do you see that?"
Hyoma turned his head to see what Arima kept bothering him about.
It was a small stall, with double automatic glass doors for an entrance. Although it looked ordinary, the peculiar thing really, was that the doors were open. And even weirder was that a group of freshly bottled cold drinks were hovering in the air, passing through the doors and walking up the streets.
Hyoma stunned, looked at Arima for a moment.
"No fucking way."
Among the stupid stories Arima had told them the other day, what was by far the most unbelievable amongst them was the myth of the floating beverages.
"What are you guys doing? It's going to start soon!"
Ai was shouting at the duo from behind, and so with pale expression on each of their face, they slowly turned around and quickly caught up with the girl. Although neither had said anything, they had both chosen to just stay quiet about it.
**
"Kanonji-Style Special Super Attack: KanonKick!"
Don Kanonji moved in front of the wicked demon with blinding speed, and kicked it into the atmosphere. The power of the kick was so powerful, that tremors quaked the heavens, as the body of the demon flung into outer space, and crashed into the surface of the moon.
Despite being so high though, it was not alone. Don Kanonji had followed, at an even greater speed than he had kicked him.
"Wicked demon, your days of tormenting this good planet are over! I'll defeat you, even if it means I have to sacrifice myself to do it!!
Kanonji-Style Final Super Attack: Giga Kanonball!"
And then the fight was over. A large explosion of blue light dwarfed to moon, devouring both the wicked demon and Kanonji too. They were both eviscerated, with even their resting place being obliterated from the solar system.
Nothing was left. The earth was safe, but it's greatest hero was now gone.
—THE END—
The credits began to play as a round of applause echoed through the cinema. 2 people were very unsatisfied, while the third had already dozed off to sleep.
