Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Yuugi had found himself out from the office and out on the streets in New York. He had a 30 minute paid lunch break. which possibly has now cut down into a 20 minute lunch break.
Though, he was still relieved that Mr. Sennen didn't fire him on the spot. This was becoming so stressful that Yuugi almost felt like he could collapse at any moment.
If talking to Mr. Sennen wasn't already giving him anxiety enough, he felt like now he had to be extra cautious with making sure he didn't be late in the future.
He wanted to show Yaami that he was a serious person, and could be mature as well as reliable. This yacht party seemed highly fancy and professional.
It was already an astonishing proposal that Yami even offered to allow Yuugi to attend due to his previous behavior. Nevertheless, Yuugi was grateful and walked towards one of his usual spots for lunch.
Walking inside as the bell rang, notifying them that they had a customer at the front. Yuugi didn't even have to look at their menu as he already knew what he wanted.
" ah! Yuugi! Hey! We haven't seen you here in a minute. Everything alright? "
" haha— hey James. Uh— yeah! Everything is fine! " Yuugi said with a chuckle nerve.
" I've just been busy. I started a new job recently. You know the one I've been dying to get accepted into for years, when I was even in college? "
" oh! You mean MCC Sennen Inc?! " James said happily as he grabbed a small piece of paper and wrote down Yugi's usual order.
" yeah! Yeah! I got in. I started today actually had my orientation Saturday. " Yuugi remarked.
" ah! That is wonderful! I'm so so happy for you truly You deserve it. " James told him, as Yugi smiled and nodded.
" so the usual right? Two chicken wraps, with a side of ranch. with black olives, and green peppers right? "
" yep! " Yugi said cheerfully.
" great! Coming right up. "
After several minutes Yugi continued to sit and wait for his food, as James came back out and ring the bell for him.
" Here ya go! All set. Condiments in the bag! " James stated.
" thanks James. " Yuugi replied before turning heel and hearing the sound of the door bell ring as someone familiar walked inside.
Yugi immediately turned red in embarrassment, and felt his heart skip more than two beats. His face became like a shattered glass almost instantly as he never thought he'd run into him again.
" ..... Austin? ..... " Yugi said surprisingly, and clearly in pure shock and disbelief. Austin whom was much taller than Yugi, and heavier in size with a muscular toned figure.
He now had a beard, nicely trimmed, along with longer blonde hair that he could brush back with his fingers. It would seem that he grew in height as well, as from what Yugi could remember.
" ... Yug. " Austin said in a deep voice which through Yugi for a loop as well, as it became deeper.
The tension and awkwardness between each other was so thick it was practically visible in the food place with them.
" .... Been awhile ... huh? " Austin said with a smirk as he saw Yugi's reaction which he found to be amusing.
Yugi quickly tried to blink and recollect himself as he cleared his throat and replied back. " y—yeah.. I mean... what.... What? Are you doing.. in New York? " Yugi asked.
" well... I uh. I decided to move back home. I had finished my goals in California. So why not? " Austin stated as Yugi arched a brow with an eye roll to match.
He walked directly past Austin and out the door as Austin immediately followed Yugi. The short male walking fast a bit as Austin quickly jogged up a bit to catch him.
Gripping the male's arm to turn him around as Austin spoke. " hey! Okay— okay look... I don't know what else you want me to say to you Yug- "
" I hate the way things ended between us.... " Austin continued to say, before Yugi interrupted.
" ugh! Just— just stop. Okay. I don't need your sappy excuses.. Austin. You think I'm gonna believe that you just all of a sudden decided to come back to New York.... " Yugi argued.
The male making a fake chuckle before turning around and trying to walk away again before Austin grabbed him again.
" okay! Okay. Look. I — you're right. Your right. I didn't come to New York for no reason... I—I came to see you .... " Austin told Yugi.
" I — I've really really... hate the way things ended between us.. and — I'm sorry... I know I was an ass back then. But... I've changed. " Austin argued.
Yugi looking up at Austin as he continued to talk, looking into Yugi's orbs, as he slowly moved Yugi's hair out from his eye.
" I miss... us... Yug. "
" ..... Austin.... "
" hey. I know. I know. It's gonna take some time... and... I wanna do things right. Or we can just like talk? ... just us? " Austin pleaded.
Yugi sighing as people walked past them, as Yugi looked down from embarrassment before looking back up at him.
" .... I ... I don't know Austin... I mean... I'm ... I'm really busy with My life now.. "
" hey. Cool. I get it. But hey! Look. Let me give you my number.... " Austin said, digging into his pocket and writing his phone number down on a wrapped piece of paper.
" if you got time. Give me a call. I don't live far from manhattan. Just... think about it. " Austin said as he slowly lifted Yugi's chin up.
Yugi staring into his eyes, as Austin leaned closer and down into Yugi as Yugi softly spoke.
" ... Austin-... "
Yugi remarked before Austin kissed Yugi's lips gently with a peak, before rubbing his thumb over his gentle lips.
" .... Call me. " Austin stated once more before finally turning heel and walking away from Yugi. Yugi watching as Austin headed off as he turned back and started walking back to the office.
When Yugi finally came back into the office, he had finished his lunch while walking. Reaching the break room inside the building and grabbing him some juice to wash it down.
Then heading back into the corporate office and heading for his desk. The time continued to pass by, and still his thoughts ran towards Austin.
He couldn't believe he had returned, after so long, and whenever he pondered about it, he thought about how things ended with them.
Typing fast on the computer his eyes darted to and from Austin's phone number time and time again. Before Yugi quickly grabbed the paper and tossed it into a drawer in his office.
Sighing hard through his nostrils feeling confused and frustrated all in one. The sound of someone knocking against his glass door, as Grim walked into his office.
" hey. "
" hey. " Yugi replied.
" here's the papers you need to copy before 3pm. "
" ..okay. " Yugi said with a dry tone.
" ... you alright? " Grim asked looking down at him.
" hm? Oh— .. yeah... I'm fine.... I — I just ... " Yugi was going to say before Melissa came rushing into Yugi's office looking for Grim.
" meeting. now. " she said swiftly towards Grim before Grim turned to look at her, and then down at his watch checking the time.
" oh? Already. Right. I'll talk to you later, Mutou. Remember make those copies and please fax that towards Mr. Copeland. When you're done! " he shouted leaving Yugi's office.
Yugi trapped between his mind wondering what to do and how to feel with what had occurred today. He was racing between mixed feelings and wanting to pull his hair out.
He slammed his hands on the keyboard and placed his head down on his desk. Feeling defeated and overwhelmed in the moment.
It wasn't long before it was 5pm and people started to head home or were already off. Yugi walking down the hallway with stacks of paper in hand.
He had already made tons of copies, finished filing, made business calls, faxed information over, and emailed Mr. Sennen the proper documents and stocks.
He felt like he had been at work all day long, and he didn't even know how he'd manage to make it to tonight's Yacht party.
To be honest he didn't even wanna go all that badly, is what he thought. Would it be that bad if he didn't show up? Would Mr. Sennen even notice his presence if he wasn't there?
These thoughts wondered through Yugi's mind time and time again, as all he wanted to do was go home and lay flat on his face in his pillow.
Screaming to the top of his lungs in anger and in depression, as his day went from okay, to complete shit. The male walked past Yami's office to his surprise Mr. Sennen was inside.
Finally Yugi made it back to his own office and sat down checking the time. He was off at 6pm and it was only 5:15pm. He had about 45 minutes left from estimate but even then it felt like two hours.
Gradually time continued to pass by and Mr. Sennen had made his way down the hall towards Yugi's office. With just a knock he opened the door to which Yugi stopped typing for a moment.
" Mutou. " Yami said.
" Oh. Hello, Mr. Sennen. " Yugi replied.
Yami handing him some paperwork, as Yugi leaned forward to reach them. " I need you to sign off on those for me, and then place them in my office. " Yami ordered.
" .. will do.. sir. " Yugi said unable to control his tone of voice, which sounded like he was exhausted. To which Yami picked up on a bit.
" sleepy already? " Yami questioned arching his brow.
" h—huh? — I — oh! N—no sir. I'm.. I'm just.. uh a little tired but- not really, just tired mentally, but I can push through! " Yugi tried to say in a more positive tone.
" mmmmhm. " Yami remarked.
" once you sign those documents you are free to clock out. And I hope to see you tonight at the party.. yes? " Yami stated.
" ... I — uh... yes sir. " Yugi commented.
" ... excellent. See you tonight then. " Yami said aloud as he walked out of Yugi's office and down the hallway heading home himself.
Yugi once Yami was far away, and out the office slammed his head down into the keyboard and almost knocked out. Yugi quickly tried to sign off on the paperwork providing by him.
Checking the time and it was now 6:15pm as he completely overstayed his time and worked overtime for 15 minutes. Though it wasn't a lot, Yugi eyes felt red.
He yawned and stretched before he slowly got up from his desk and looked down at the drawer with Austin's number in it. Slowly he reached for the handle before deciding not to take it out.
Grabbing his phone, house keys, and his jacket he headed out of his office, making sure to turn off his office lights before heading out the building entirely.
