Between Your Letter and My Reply

Chapter 166

『 Translator – Divinity 』

Damian, puzzled, watched Lilliana as she hid one of the shopping bags behind her. He had expected her to show off her purchases as soon as she saw him.

Lilliana grinned and said, "I'll show you properly at the banquet, so be prepared to be surprised by my transformation."

"Lily bought a really pretty dress," Casey chimed in, and Damian replied politely, "Then I'll look forward to it."

"But I also bought some clothes for you..."

"Huh? Clothes for me? Why?"

Damian unconsciously pointed at himself and asked. Lilliana dumped the clothes out of the shopping bag and said, "Try them on and see if they fit. I wasn't sure about your size, so I just bought some. We'll have to exchange them if they don't fit."

"So why clothes for me?"

"You don't have as few clothes as brother Casey, but how can you only have clothes with the same design? You're wasting that face of yours!"

Damian looked shocked and protested, "How are they all the same design? They're different colors."

Lilliana facepalmed.

"Damian, please make use of your face. Just try these on first!"

"Lilliana, I don't need this many clothes."

"Oh, come on. I bought clothes you can wear casually. Change your clothes every day."

Casey burst out laughing.

"Lily, you sound just like Mom."

Lilliana tilted her head and said, "Me? I sound like Mom?"

"Yes. Mom used to talk exactly like that."

While Lilliana and Casey were discussing that, Damian went up to his room with the clothes, looking sullen. He tried them on one by one, then came back down with the clothes sorted into those that fit and those that didn't. It didn't take him long.

"Why didn't you come down wearing the new clothes?" Lilliana protested, waiting for him.

"I checked the sizes inside," he replied nonchalantly. "These clothes don't fit, so I'll exchange them."

"Ahh! Show me! Show me what you tried on!"

"You didn't show me what you bought either, Lilliana."

"I told you I'll show you at the banquet. Show me too, Damian."

"You can see what I'm wearing later too."

"That's not fair! I bought it!" Lilliana said, her face full of indignation, and lightly punched Damian's shoulder with her small fist.

Timo barked as if telling Damian to apologize to Lilliana. Damian, unhurt by her punches, burst out laughing at her childish behavior.

"Hey! Don't laugh! It's annoying! Stop laughing!"

Lilliana, even more riled up because Damian was laughing, didn't stop hitting him.

Damian laughed and thought that he didn't care about family at this moment. He could live a normal life even without a family as long as he had them.

⊱✿❀✿⊰

In the early morning, before people started their daily activities, three strangers appeared at 66 Drut Street.

A man with a long, black case slung over his shoulder, wearing a dark suit. A slender, beautiful woman with a somewhat flamboyant appearance. And an elegant lady wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a stylish outfit.

It was a rather unusual combination, but the only person who saw them with curiosity was a newspaper delivery person they happened to pass by.

Soliel looked around the building at 66 Drut Street and snapped her fingers. Sparks flew from her fingertips. Then, she threw red stones around.

She stretched out her hand in the air, and a long staff appeared, grasped in her hand.

The staff was so long that it easily surpassed Soliel's height. It was adorned with a large amethyst at the top, surrounded by intricate geometric patterns.

Soliel slammed the staff on the ground and shouted, "Libausozis!"

A flash of light briefly filled the air and then disappeared as quickly as it came. Soliel nodded at Damian and Casey.

"Now, no one within this block will be able to perceive us. Including the commotion that's about to happen."

"Then is it my turn?" Casey stepped forward, cracking his knuckles and loosening his wrists.

"Check the door first. This kind of magic usually starts at the door," Soliel said.

As instructed, Casey approached the building's door and felt around with his fingertips. At a certain point, a spark ignited at his fingertip. Casey focused on reading it, then created a flame at his fingertip.

The flame, as if it knew the way, didn't spread randomly but formed a regular pattern, gradually expanding its range.

Finally, the flames completely revealed a magic formula with overlapping geometric shapes and ancient words.

"Soliel, is this it?" Casey asked hesitantly.

Soliel smiled with satisfaction.

"It's so convenient having a spirit around, isn't it? To directly read a magic formula like that is impossible for humans like us. Now, step aside."

Casey stepped aside, and Soliel pointed the tip of her staff at the formula and chanted, "Zitrot!"

Clang!

One of the formulas was broken. And then, like a chain reaction, other formulas connected to it started to unravel.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

As several formulas were destroyed, Soliel withdrew her staff, leaving only the necessary magic in place. Then, she gestured to Damian.

Damian had Soliel and Casey move aside, then shot the doorknob with his gun and destroyed it. He then kicked the door open and charged inside.

He scanned the interior cautiously, his gun at the ready. Inside the door was a small hall that seemed to lead to the front entrance, and a staircase branched off in two directions.

After confirming that there was nothing by the entrance, Damian stood with one foot on the door and asked, "Ms. Soliel, what should we do?"

"Let's take a look around first."

Soliel walked past Damian and entered. Damian followed her, shouting, "Seidel Luriantz! Come out quietly if you're there!"

"Do you think he'll come out just because you tell him to?" Casey said nonchalantly, but as soon as he finished speaking, the door they had entered slammed shut with a loud bang. Casey frowned and tried to push the door open, but it wouldn't budge.

"It's locked."

Damian and Soliel quickly assumed combat stances. They could open the door later, and they had expected that Seidel wouldn't leave his hideout unguarded.

"Replace!" a grating voice chanted.

Soliel was already prepared to deflect the magic when the opponent had only uttered a single syllable.

"DICTO!"

The magic collided, and a shockwave reverberated through the air. As Damian tried to run towards the source of the voice, a man suddenly blocked his path. He was an ordinary-looking man, but it wasn't Seidel.

"Damian, it's a golem!" Casey shouted.

Before Damian could react, more people swarmed out from behind the man.

"Lungmen Legatus!"

Another chant echoed through the hall.

Damian and the other two were suddenly lifted into the air. Though startled, Damian took advantage of the situation and quickly scanned the scene below.

Several golems were standing as if protecting someone, and in the center was Seidel Luriantz. Just before Damian crashed into the ceiling, Soliel cast a spell.

"ZERTA!"

The spell to stop their movement was cast, and the three were suspended in mid-air. Damian aimed his submachine gun downwards and fired.

Rat-a-tat-tat!

Bullets rained down, but instead of Seidel, the golems became his shield. Luckily, some golems were hit in their magic stones and collapsed, but not many.

Soliel gently lowered Damian and Casey to the ground. She aimed her staff again and this time chanted a rather long spell.

"Noirbell Jacques Luo Merults..."

Damian and Casey quickly realized that Soliel was preparing a powerful spell and bought her time to prepare.

Damian kept the golems in check with his gun, and Casey burned them with fire. But there were still many golems left due to their overwhelming numbers.

Under the protection of the golems, Seidel attacked Damian and Casey. It seemed like he intended to eliminate the two nuisances before they could interfere with Soliel's spell.

"Replace! Zalba! Replace!"

Magic spells flew at them one after another, but Soliel completed her spell before Seidel's magic could hit them.

"Brace yourselves for the impact! SERABILAM!"

A blindingly bright light gathered at the tip of Soliel's staff, then shot towards Seidel like a cannonball.

The golems in its path shattered, and Seidel couldn't dodge in time. Damian thought they had captured Seidel for sure.
