Chapter 46: Expectations
"Hahahaha...", Nero's laughter gradually spread throughout the place, until it was cut off by other lips.
The spectators looked away when the snow white kissed him as if she had found her long-lost prince.
A strong red mark would have remained on her lips if the lipstick wasn't special.
"You look wonderful."
"I should say that."
'Huh... I want a boyfriend...', at least in their thoughts, the two were twins.
"I can see the pink butterflies over there."
"Me too..."
"Are you ready?", the door opened a little wider, giving light to a new realm of beauty.
"..."
"What, it's almost time," Erin said with a slight smile. Almost victorious, in the opinion of her humble disciple who followed her.
Diana placed her hand on her chin as she calmed her heart and assessed the situation rationally.
"You two are just unfair..." she pointed out, while the two waved behind her. Nero simply smiled.
"..."
'At least Nero is mine.'
Yes, that thought calmed her down.
Right behind, nature acted on the other two.
While the red on those cheeks seemed to spread to her friend. Their thoughts were conflicting.
'I guess it wouldn't be bad to have an older sister... or something else, right?...'
Later, their hearts only calmed down with a small dose of vodka.
"You look wonderful!"
"Yes, the most beautiful princess I've ever seen."
Staring at herself in the mirror, Sofia could see every sophisticated detail of her dress. The hand-made embroidery, the small precious stones that looked like stars, and the curves that fit her perfectly.
It was a gray dress, just like a sky at dusk, full of dark clouds; the white gave way to pale blue and soon reached turquoise, mixing vibrant yet delicate tones.
Like the color of a flower when it blooms, nothing could seem more perfect and appropriate, but it was still enhanced by the cape on one shoulder, the long sleeves, and the beautiful neckline.
"Yes, you look perfect," with a sigh, Lilian made the final adjustments. "But I still think you were wrong to set up the enemy like that."
Pretending not to hear the last murmur, she lightly touched her hair. Like a flaming river it fell over her shoulders, while one side was fixed behind her ear by a ruby hairpin.
"Now, don't overdo it with the makeup."
With a cheerful smile, Aila was already getting ready while Blair brought a chair.
"I'm serious."
"Leave it to us, miss," Lilian assured her. "At least in makeup and beauty no one can surpass you. We'll leave the competitors in the dust."
Aila helped her sit down, giving the other a strange look.
"It's not a competition, oh genius, and if it were...", she paused for a second appreciating her work of art. The dress had been her design and the beautiful woman, her child. "But if it were, you would always win."
"Even you, Aila?"
The two laughed as they prepared everything.
That year's banquet was promising.
...
..
"How long has it been since I dressed like this?"
"Uh, I have to admit. It suits you well, and strangely enough, you too. Weren't we supposed to be your attendants?", Carla couldn't help but compliment.
Diana was truly a queen. Beautiful with the sky covered in stars, a dawn of her own with her black dress with silver details, and so many beautiful designs engraved with jewels and subtle details that even the smell was wonderful.
The fabric was divine to the touch, with layers in the skirt and subtle details like the sash, the belt and the beautiful design of purple tones that went down from the waist to the feet.
Carla felt like she was in a fairy tale just for helping to prepare it, but if she had to say, she would give the Cinderella award to another princess.
"What have you done with my cherry-colored Ema, huh? Hell, you look like a different person."
"Hehehe!", the young woman was all smiles, as if she was enjoying the first spring of her life. "You look beautiful too, Carla!"
"Really?...", the beautiful woman rolled her eyes as she shook her head. Standing in front of the mirror, she couldn't help but believe it. "With such a beautiful outfit..."
'... Anyone looks stunning.'
"It's your charm that makes the difference, Carla," the secretary was caught off guard by the voice and the beautiful angel entering the room. But it didn't stop there. Being looked up and down, she heard:
"You've always had a lovely face, and a beautiful body that you work hard to keep in shape."
Carla's mouth made a perfect 'O' next to her dropped jaw.
She wasn't the only one.
"You look beautiful," he spat, as easily as a bird sings or the wind whispers.
Not all the dresses in the world would be worth such sweet words. Such a delicate and genuine compliment. Her heart seemed to skip a few beats, perhaps trying to think of a thank you, it stopped beating.
If there was a Cupid, he had come down there, dressed as an angel and shooting arrows of compliments instead of hearts.
"Wow!" Ema's flushed face said a lot about that man.
"What the hell?" she blurted out. That was the only curse word Carla could remember. Her mind was blank.
"Fuck!", before Diana could speak, the young woman raised the stakes.
"Ema!!", Carla took back what she had said. The content was still the same.
"What!?", blushing like a bunny caught red-handed, she defended herself. "My God... He's so hot."
Carla pinched the bridge of her nose, holding herself back from hitting her own forehead... or her cheeky friend's ass.
