Became the Queen of the Legion

Chapter 16 - Choice (1)

“I need a more detailed explanation.”

It was shocking enough to learn that this game was a kind of multiplayer mode with other players besides me.

But those players were definitely not ordinary players.

If they had been ordinary players, the player who just lost to me wouldn’t have sent such urgent messages.

[It is true that multiple players from across the universe are participating in this game]

“Across the universe? Multiple?”

Fortunately, the system message started answering my words. However, I couldn’t understand the answer immediately upon hearing it.

For a game made by the American company Beyond, why all this talk about the universe?

[It is also true that lives are at stake as the price for participation]

“This is crazy, so you really die if you lose? Just for losing a mere game?”

The system message’s explanation continued. Whether it should be called fair or not, dying upon losing the game was a condition equal for all players, not just me.

At this point, it’s only natural to be curious about this.

“Why does such a game even exist?”

It was a fundamental question. I wondered if perhaps others were forcibly brought here like me, and if there were villains who enjoyed watching this.

[All players except you participated voluntarily]

However, my expectation was off the mark. Dumbfounded by the words that they participated voluntarily, I gaped and barely managed to utter one word.

“Why?”

Why on earth would they participate in a game betting their own lives?

Multiplayer mode has too many variables, so even a veteran player can’t win every time.

[The player who becomes the victor can have everything they’ve achieved. Those who recognize that value and want to obtain it voluntarily participate in the game to compete]

The system answered quite simply. That there is an enormous benefit worth taking such a risk for.

Having heard that far, I was speechless.

While some are doing everything they can to survive right now, hearing that others jumped in risking their lives to fulfill their greed, I couldn’t help but feel dejected.

‘Still, that’s a relief.’

One fortunate point was that my guilt for killing a player for my own survival was somewhat reduced.

They must have started the game accepting all of this, so they shouldn’t feel wronged.

[Achievement, System Secret (1) completed. 1 trait point awarded as reward]

“Even this counts as an achievement?”

After hearing all the explanations, the system recognized this as an achievement and gave a trait point.

I couldn’t help but smirk. There was no reason to refuse when it’s being given.

「Physical Enhancement 3」

Using all the trait points acquired this time, I raised Physical Enhancement to level 3, matching Consciousness and Reproduction.

「Magic Condensation」

And as a result, I gained one new trait. The trait’s name is Magic Condensation. Its effect was none other than the ability to condense and store decomposed and digested magic power.

‘Can I make those overpowered soldiers too?’

The sight of magic-awakened goblin warriors slicing through allied soldiers much larger than themselves with just a sword is still vivid.

If I do well, it seems I might be able to make such soldiers too.

[Quickly check the remaining spoils]

“What spoils are you telling me to check? I’ve already collected everything that could be collected.”

At that time, I frowned at the system message as I was watching the workers busily moving and transporting spoils to the nest.

Its attitude was as if I had missed something.

‘This is?’

But when I possessed the body of one combat troop and looked around. I discovered a passage leading underground beneath a goblin village facility destroyed in the aftermath of the battle.

The passage was too narrow, so I mobilized workers to forcibly widen it.

And the sight revealed inside was shocking in itself.

“Right, I wondered why there weren’t such individuals in a village this size. Were they managing them underground?”

Considering the goblins’ method of producing special individuals through mating with different species females, this was a place I should have naturally discovered.

Compared to what I saw as text in the game, it was a very explicit and realistic scene, not a very pleasant sight to see, so I naturally frowned.

‘About 14? The species are quite diverse, from beastkin to dark elves.’

All 14 females captured and imprisoned by the goblins were in a state of intoxication, out of their minds.

Only 3 of them weren’t pregnant with swollen bellies, and even among those, there seemed to be almost none whose minds weren’t completely broken.

Well, no intelligent female could endure a life as a goblin-exclusive pregnancy machine in that dark cave. If one could endure such treatment and keep their sanity, perhaps their disposition should be questioned instead.

“Collect them.”

Of course, I didn’t ignore them despite that. It was a very good opportunity to acquire genetic information of new species.

I thought it would be better to make them our nutrients without pain, since they were already reduced to mere pieces of flesh that had lost even themselves.

“…”

She, who had barely escaped being raped by goblins just before, had been left tied up all night.

No matter what was happening outside, she couldn’t come to her senses due to the paralyzing poison and aphrodisiac components in her body.

But as time passed, the toxicity slowly began to fade from her body, which hadn’t yet become addicted to the poisonous herbs.

Very gradually, her head began to clear, and the sounds that had only been buzzing and the vision that had only been blurry slowly started to return.

‘What’s going on?’

When she became able to think.

Still unable to properly control her body, she realized she was being carried on something as she saw the warm sunlight floating in the sky.

The rope binding both her wrists was still there. She was still completely naked without a thread on her body.

However, one thing was certain: the disgusting and terrible sight of goblins was no longer visible.

“Ah… uah…”

Now, instead of goblins, hundreds of grotesque monsters she had never seen before filled her surroundings.

Realizing that the hard and rough exoskeleton she was lying on along with other females was one of those monsters, she screamed without realizing it.

That scream only faintly leaked out along with drool dripping from her mouth, which was still paralyzed.

‘Am I going to be eaten like this.’

Realizing that the monsters around her were carrying numerous goblin corpses in their mouths as proud spoils, she understood what had happened during the past night when she was intoxicated.

A war had broken out, and she, who had been the property of the defeated, would only be disposed of as the property of the victors.

She was convinced that she would be eaten without being able to do anything.

After all, it would be impossible to have any kind of dialogue with such terrible monsters.

‘Maybe that would be better…’

She realized that there’s a bottom even below the bottom.

Fallen into the hands of the incomparably barbaric goblins, she was merely a female.

Having seen how the female beings captured before her were treated and how they went mad, she believed, now that she had regained her senses, that it would be better to die.

‘Nest…’

As she was being carried helplessly like that, she saw herself entering a dark cave.

It seemed the end was slowly approaching.

The nest, where even more monsters than she had seen so far were lurking, had disgusting tentacles stretching everywhere, and countless eggs were growing in empty spaces.

It was a huge nest where an enormous hive was growing, incomparable to the earthen cave that the goblins had made as a breeding pen.

“Ugh…”

At that moment, two workers riding on the back armor of the shock trooper that had stopped walking began to carefully pick up only her from among the females carried with her and move her with their mouths.

Thinking that finally these monsters would dismember and kill her, she wanted to struggle wildly in her mind, but without the strength to resist, she was just being moved somewhere like a piece of luggage without knowing why.

“Argh!”

And finally, the workers dropped her somewhere on the floor.

As the workers’ actions were not very delicate, she, thrown to the floor as if discarded, writhed and floundered on a floor pooled with some unknown damp mucus.

‘…Brain?’

Only then did something come into her view.

A huge chair made as if rising from the ground with writhing flesh walls and exoskeletons.

The enormous ‘brain’ writhing behind that chair tinted her head with confusion.

And finally, her gaze, slowly climbing up a leg extended from that chair, looked up at the being sitting crookedly with legs crossed on that chair.

“Who are you?”

The queen, her red eyes flashing as she looked down at her who didn’t dare to open her mouth, spoke first the words she wanted to say.

‘Queen.’

Although it was a bizarre being she had never seen before, she couldn’t help but think that truly.
